Another quiet month here at we ride the lines. Dare I say it, even quieter than October. Yep, things are pretty dead here (Maybe because many of us are in college and november is always a busy month) However, there are some very, very exciting things in this month and looking forward to the future!

November 2014

Site News
  • YouTube enabled 60fps video uploads! This means we will now be able to watch Line Rider in full speed on youtube and see every frame. Check out the difference with Chuggers' 60fps re-edit of Creation! Plans are in place for a new youtube channel "Line Rider ReMastered" that will have re-recorded and re-uploaded classic tracks at 60fps in HD with original music but new editing. Stay tuned! In the meantime, post all your .sols here please (esp if you have a well-known track amongst them) so I can do the 60fps thing with them.
  • Your friendly neighborhood squirrel is doing a 12-Hour Line Rider Video Commentary Marathon!!! I am so, so, soooooo excited for this event. It will take place on the livesream on December 27th from 9AM to 11PM Central US Time (GMT -6). I will watch every single video in the Exceptional Line Rider Video playlist (about 200) in three four-hour chunks, with a different co-host(s) each shift watching and commenting with me. Dapianokid will be there from 9 to 1, Chuggers and ImJOSHH are joining me from 3-6, and Opal will finish it off with me from 7 to 11(ish). Mark this on your calendars, and spread the word to anyone you are in contact with who plays line rider, or used to play line rider! Panic (Especially if they made a video on the exceptional playlist) Come watch and chat with us if you can, but if you can't, the whole thing will be uploaded to IRTLTube so you can always go back and watch it.
  • We had an offer for a new forum for line rider that would allow us to shrug off forumotion and utilize our weridethelines.com domain, but the person who made the offer has since disappeared. So it's not going through
  • However, on that note... last newsletter I hinted at a super exciting thing that I couldn't tell anyone about. I still can't, but I WILL be able to in the next couple weeks. Sorry I can't do anything but hint at it right now, but just know that it is very exciting news concerning a new website. Eep
NEVER MIND I CAN! Conundrumer, as part of his web apps design class at Carnegie Melon University, and along with two classmates, is developing a new version of Line Rider with an integrated website, Line Online. This means a totally redesigned game as well as a brand new website directly linked with the game. Read more by clicking here.
  • EDIT: Extra! Extra! News since I posted this last night. Let us bid a fond farewell to Commandercoke, our longtime mod, who is now retiring. CC has been a member for many years and is most well known for hosting Line Art of the Week and for his scenery in the Mysteria trilogy and Happily Ever After, as well as countless ending monuments. We will all miss him as he goes on to pursue a career in graphic design and illustration!
Track Releases
  • Blissful Memories by Kramwood - The only track released on this site in November, and it's a beauty. The music choice, the title, and the relative simplicity of the track make it feel like a symbolic track, or possibly a tribute, but the details are left ambiguous. It almost feels like a farewell track, except that Kramwood is not, in fact, leaving (which I am sure we are all very happy about)
Engaged Riding
  • The Beta Decline Contest was a success, (yay Very Happy) with five entries by shotoku, Ryder, gaoyubao, Getthim, and myself. The plan was to have voting in December so expect a poll very soon. (If ryder doesn't make one in a few days I'll make it myself haha)
  • The Synchronized Battle Royale release week has been extended to the start of January. With seven participants (Shotoku, Getthim, DaPianoKid, .Iso, Ryder, Rafael, and myself) this is shaping up to be a pretty serious event! Stay tuned.
  • There are plenty of WCC projects that could very much use participants (many of them are sitting open and waiting due to the low activity)
Casual no-standards tracks: Tales of Twenty, Experiment Collab
Scenery projects: Forest Scenery, Phunky (community scenery project), Repeating Track Different Scenery (not sure when this will be ending)
Big music syncing tracks: Oxygen (almost done!), Blackheart
  • GhostY and myself have decided we are going to attempt to finish Evolution of Line Rider Scened by 2015, because the original video said "coming sometime before 2015". If you would like to join us please let me know Very Happy (Even if you don't feel good enough to we can probably give you jobs like filling in black and stuff like that so if you can offer your help we can probably use you!)
Version Development
  • I have been hearing various things about new versions of Line Rider and new directions for version development from kevans but he has not posted anything yet so I am not sure what he is comfortable with me putting here. So I'll just say new things are brewing and let him announce what he would like, when we would like.
  • There is also news I can't detail that is tied to the announcement I referenced in the news section of this post that will be made soon. (sorry!)
Upcoming Stuff!
  • 12-Hour Line Rider Video Commentary Marathon!!!!!!!1 on December 27th (sorry I know I already mentioned this, I am just super excited)
  • Previously mentioned BIG site news, coming before Christmas
  • I vowed to murder a puppy if the silent flame CSP was not finished by now, but I ended up giving opal some more work to do halfway through the month. So, since it was really my fault, I'm extending the potential puppy murder to January. But seriously guys we are soooo close.
  • LineBenji is now working on finishing the Clarifaction CSP monument so we hope to release that soon as well!
  • Battle Royale tracks! Get excited.
  • shotoku is quite close to finishing metropolis scened
  • Dapianokid is making stuff
  • summoning is working on a track
  • If you have something you want to add to this list in next month’s newsletter, PM me!

Really great newsletter. Hopefully the new version of LR goes through and finally gets finished, that's what I've been waiting on to get back into the game, I'm tired of the old flash version that with a gtx 780 ti and a 4.0ghz processor I still can barely load a 40k line/scened track.
