Playback effects I've thought of:
Night Rave Color Playback
Ghost trail: For about 10 frames, the rider can be seen behind the current slowly fading out, similar to the mouse trail setting in windows.
Rotating Track, Stationary bosh. Track Rotates, and the sled stays in the same position.
Dynamic Camera. The slow the track, the more zoomed in it'll be, and the less centered bosh will be. The faster it get's, the more zoomed out it'll get and bosh will be more centered. Both with limits and toleration areas so it doesn't look super ridiculous with stop and go areas.
Up-side-down. Self explanatory. Heck, throw in other directions.
Reverse Playback. For the same Excuse as color playback, more video footage to fill the song.
Also, Pencil XY snap.
And I support color playback.

With mod support, I think you'd be able to implement those yourself, though reverse play back is a simple video editing effect

Well, whenever I've talked to Mhenr about mod support, he's said no every time, or at least he doesn't know what he's going to do about it. Inb4 he swoops in to contradict me like he always does, the little douchebag
Also, I've never been able to find a reverse video effect ever, specifically camtasia, can someone hook me up with this?

different kinds of play back would be cool though whether it would be a color playback or a regular play back. like for instance people can make really cool scenery with the night rave playback and the dynamic camera kevan suggested would be amazing for a normal play back.
No color playback isn't in the game, if you want to see the colors in the track you can download the track and just view it for yourself without playing the game. If you want it that bad though someone that learns the coding language to make the mods for Unleashed can mod it in.

bosh isn't there because I'm rewriting my render code to make him render identically to the flash version (I'd previously just exported pngs of the different body parts)
also the editor doesn't have zoom or pan tools because they're outdated. There's a zoom slider on the lower right, you can use ctrl/cmd +/- for zooming in editor or playback, and multitouch trackpad users can do a pinch gesture on OSX. Panning can be done by clicking in the 3rd mouse button and dragging, space bar + drag like flash, and trackpad/magic mouse users on OSX get full 2D scrolling for panning around.
you can click the zoom icon in the lower right to view the whole track (I'm on a misson to provide buttons for everything that was keyboard only before - in addition there's a full menu system with tons of stuff), and clicking on the swatches in the top left next to the linecounts toggles the visiblity of that type. there's all of the cursors now and they're buttery smooth too.

It's only the sled because I'm putting everything into a vector format for LRU and converting takes a while, so I haven't done bosh yet. Also, the camera hasn't been done either, which is why it sits on the left.

Why would it? Aside from fast forward there's nothing else needed in playback, and the editor doesn't actually need anything else.

So why aren't you allowing people to decompile?
Isn't that the reason for a healthy community (i.e. Source engine)?
I mean, you modded LR, and so did Kevans. And we're all using your versions because they're often superior in some way to unmodded versions.
If we can't mod your version, we'll be stuck throwing away cool ideas or reverting to Flash LR to do our mods.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but please leave that open?

Why decompile and mod the game that way when he is making a modding system for the game using LUA (last I remember of). The modding system allows you to install, uninstall, enable, and disable mods so you don't have to have multiple files of the same game for different "mods".

That's the last thing I remember him saying about it. LUA should be an easy to learn language (I'm about to have a go at it in a few days or weeks when I have more free time just so I can learn it to mod this version of Linerider to add color playback, and other cool stuff.)
