New Site Details

Nope, internet went out while I was at school. Also I don't plan on having a server anytime soon. I quit doing most web jobs and now I mainly record youtube videos with a few web jobs on the side to purchase more games. When/If I get a real life job I might get another vps.

Well first off we need a host. I should be able to get that within a few days. Next you guys will have to know HTML and CSS. Previous experience with phpBB skinning might be useful.

Why not just remake the skin, submit it to www.hitskin.com and then let rabid choose to use it via the ACP?

Well I really don't feel like doing it alone Plus I'm still waiting to see if anyone managed to get an early copy of the skin.

Gay. Looks like the only chance we'll ever have at redesigning the site is by getting a brand new site. If we do decide to make a new site I'd recommend using 000WebHost. On a free account it supports everything phpBB needs to run and it's premium plan is very affordable. Only $4.84/month.

Or you could get HostGator for the same price but is much more reliable.

Nah, in all seriousness, until and unless this has the backing of the current WRtL staff, nothing is likely to happen. Disappointingly. It needs more discussion about what the forum members actually want! Collectively. And that might actually be staying here.

Well, after this escapade with having a site set up and then having it suddenly go down the tubes (I put a lot of time into that site, permissions and sections and such) I'm extremely reluctant to rely on someone else's hosting payments.

I am considering paying for all of it myself, but I have a few problems: 1) I would have to do all the setup myself, and really don't know how 2) I don't have time to learn how right now 3) I'm going abroad in September and I won't be around much for five months

Well Rabid,from my limited experience of forum install scripts, it looks to me to be really straightforward once you know how to work a good FTP client. There's no coding or anything. You can pick it right up. It isn't long before you're presented with a blank forum and an ACP which you'd be really familiar with. It'd be well within your capabilities...however, as to whether you have the time, that's up to you. . I doubt anybody would blame you for not wanting to. Hell, you've already done loads

Installing Skins and Add-ons, also not an issue. Making a skin from scratch though...yuck. I wouldn't know where to begin.

It also depends on the platform you'd want to use. I'd go down MyBB route if it were me, although opinions vary wildly.
