Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Ok sceners, I need some help.
Here's a picture with three sections labeled:
https://i.imgur.com/3AXLV.png
SECTION 1:
I need this to look cooler. Maybe just add something in the background around the tunnel or something. Nothing impressive or very detailed, nothing with shading, and nothing abstract yet - still medium-simple tech scenery.
SECTION 2:
This should look like it's a tunnel made of concrete or rock, but collapsing, or falling apart, or crumbling - you get the idea. Not too detailed, no excessive shading, and not abstract, but not clean or polished anymore.
SECTION 3:
Here we want to merge into abstraction. Maybe have some spikes from the wall that turn more abstract as they get further down? We want to get closer to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocit2cZ2Us8 but we don't want it to look sloppy.
This is a tricky section, and I don't feel that I can finish this stuff myself, at least currently, so I'd like to hand this over to someone else if they want to take it. You don't have to be the person who's doing the quirk section after this, you don't even have to do all of it - feel free to just contribute your bit to any of these sections and then repost it.

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
For section 1 I'd suggest that stuff Sorvius did in MMX at the beginning. I mean the roller coaster thing just not as detailed I guess..

The third part could sort of be like this:

With the spikes, well they could evolve a little bit as they go down.
I'll post any other ideas I have ^^

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Ok Id really like to do the first part This is what I am doing.
Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Hmm, I like it very much, but I think there's a bit too much detail and just too much stuff there, and it's a bit too small in scale - especially since Bosh is moving at about speed 30 there (does that make sense?) I also think it needs to curve with the wall in some way, especially because the rest of the stuff I already made curves with the track lines. Suddenly going XY-ish doesn't fit too well. It also looks suddenly more 2-D than the scenery before it.Sheldon wrote:Ok Id really like to do the first part This is what I am doing.
it reminds me of some of Aqua's scenery, have you seen any of his stuff? You should try scening sometime on one of your own tracks because that looks really good! (Or maybe take some more community scenery project parts? )
Actually, you've given me great ideas now. I'm thinking something like that, but not as compact and tiny, and curving, and more 3-D, but just as simple.
Ooh, I can totally picture thatGeorgio_jc wrote:For section 1 I'd suggest that stuff Sorvius did in MMX at the beginning. I mean the roller coaster thing just not as detailed I guess..

Ok, I really like all of your ideas, and I can see it in my head more clearly so I think I can make this happen now! I'll do it myself sometime in the next few days (I'm not busy this week). Sorry I have to tell you to scrap your work Sheldon
Thanks all three of you for your ideas, they were super helpful! I'm feeling much better about this section now.
Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Dang thats the second time my part was scrapped can I enter in LAOTW?
also are you doing it like in bolted to the wall?

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
well, if you do it and then I like it, sure. But I have high standards for this track, and like you said, you're not a scener. So don't be disappointed if I again say no, that's not what I want. And keep in mind that I will also be trying to scene the same part now.
The last thing I want at this point in the trackis details and
and no offense GhostY, but his part doesn't fit at all, beyond the fact that it is tech scenery. where that is is in the ground, but it's perfect XY holes when nothing at all so far in the track has been XY (on purpose, because we'll be doing XY scenery later), none of it has metallic shine (which is all over the rest of the section), and none of it looks 3-D, where everything else before it does. It's also probably about 1/10th the scale of the previous parts of the track. It also looks nothing like anything I've seen in Line Rider scenery before (which is usually great except that we're historians in this track, not inventors) except perhaps a 2D 1/8th scale Bolted to the Wall (and a 2-D Bolted is like... a flatsledding omnitrack.)

have you tried XY scenery before? I can do the first half but I dunno about the last bit. I want it to be something like Bubbles's beastly XY scenery.GhostY wrote:^ mk i see what you mean now :3

you can certainly help out in the progressive/alt quirk section I'm kind of hoping CC will do the manual section in a LRG-esque style

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
I streamed a bit of this, hope nobody minds. I was careful not to say what the project was, or to show anyone anything other than the part I was working on.
I finished the above tunnel mostly based off Georg's suggestion!
https://i.imgur.com/qnL42.png
And i started an attempt at the spikes/crumbling tunnel section:
https://i.imgur.com/9Bja3.png
The idea is that it will be a tunnel that will crumble away and then there will be a tunnel of more abstract looking spikes, which will then come to a stop as Bosh enters the old-school quirk.
Right now, my concerns are that it looks too much like archaeology, it looks too simple, I don't have a smooth transition from the crumbling to the abstract, I'm not sure if I should have the walls go off to the sides or just blend from one into the other, and I don't know what the abstract spikes should look like.
If a scener wants to take this off my hands and try it, feel free. All suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm straining my scening abilities here
I feel like CC might be good at making the crumbling look better and GhostY might be good at the abstract spike tunnel.

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
I can do the crumbling, but I need more specifics on what generation of scenery it should be. Like how simple or detailed.

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
well... I have no idea, I don't think there ever was any crumbling of note in scenery besides BTTW and archaeologyCommandercoke wrote:I can do the crumbling, but I need more specifics on what generation of scenery it should be. Like how simple or detailed.
I honestly have no idea how to draw it. I feel like it's too detailed and yet too plain at the same time .-. like, there are too many cracks and too little texture... but I don't really want much detail in this part yet because we're not to absurdist movement yet
I'm clueless. I wouldn't care if you erased everything in that area and redid it in a different way, as long as it somehow transitions from tech to not-too-detailed abstraction
Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
I'll give it a go and see what you think. If it's not correct I'll redo it or something.
So send me the .sol, I guess.
