Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Sorry this is taking forever guys. I worked on it for three hours today - I'm trying to make it look tech-style but top-end tech style for this last bit, which is some pretty fast manuals (meaning lots of scenery). I'm making a crosshatching grid/pipe thing for the long nose manual that I think looks pretty cool, and I think I'm gonna make the passage to the quirk a sort of cave tech-pipe that slowly dissolves into abstraction.
That said, it's slow going, especially the crosshatching (it needs to line up and not be sloppy, so I have to basically make a grid across the whole thing, fill in lines, and then draw the portions that actually exist in the final scenery, then erase the extra lines, and then finally the grid - basically drawing twice as many lines that are actually in the grid and then erasing half of them. And they all have to be the same width and stuff across the board so I've had to redo some sections that looks different and stuff... yeah.
I think the main important thing with the scenery is for it to be clean and polished. The techniques and styles should advance and become more and more complex, but it should never be sloppy.
I'll have it done soon, promise.

If you look at "Tech Dawg LABS", you see that there is barely any detail in the scenery, yet it's effective.

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
This actually doesn't look all that detailed, just more dense. And yes I agree, and I tried to make the part just before this long tunnel section somewhat look like that. It's a very difficult style to duplicate, especially when in a cave with long manuals.Cereal wrote:rabid squirrel wrote:Sorry this is taking forever guys. I'll show you a screenshot when I'm finished with this section and you can say if you like it or not

YEAH. That took a lot longer than it looks like it would.
just the tunnel to the quirk to do now. I'll do it tomorrow.

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Btw, if you finish soon, I'm just going to let you know that I can't work on it until July 3rd. I'm going to be extremely busy in June.
But hey! 2015 isn't coming anytime soon, so it shouldn't be a problem.
(Btw, that scenery looks gangsta)

GAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH I just lost a thousand lines.
I accidentally used 6.7 for a little bit of work I did on Friday, and I forgot to make a backup before starting, so I lost all the work I did on Thursday and Friday. When I opened it up today, Bosh crashed in the flatsled section (because I used 6.7), and I couldn't find the backup for the huge amount of work I did on Thursday - because I didn't make one.
ugh I hate i when this happens.
Here's where I am in my last .sol backup:

;_;
This is the THIRD FREAKING TIME I've lost large sections of this project, and I've only gotten to about 4,000 scenery lines so far. I've lost and had to redo 2,000 lines total, which is like, 50% of what I've done - AFTER I re-do this.
LCC EVOLUTION PROJECT! WHY MUST YOU TORTURE ME SO???

Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
ALRIGHT. I caught up completely and did some more in the last five hours. YEAH. Almost done with the whole section, I just can't figure out what to do with this last bit on the way to the quirk.

It's supposed to be tech scenery.

^ yeah - tech, but going into old-school abstract at this point.
Re: Evolution of LR - Scenery version!
Also I think Wolf wants to help he posted twice.
For the end you could make a freaking massive tree going up and then show the leaves
also I could help out a bit here's an example.
