I coded today!
For anyone who writes code related to Line Rider, post in this thread that you wrote code and share some results if you would like.

- progress on rewriting the physics, passing the tests and made this physics monitor:

after two weeks of unexpectedly long side projects (also i have a part-time day job) i finally got back to this
re-implemented scenery and acc lines and made sure they are correct. also made test tracks for the next step: re-implementing the grid and making sure it is correct

after 8 hours, finished the grid, the physics are done and completely compatible (at least, for the test tracks)
i took way too long to figure out the line order was reversed because of one typo. if i used a strongly typed language that would have been caught hours before i went into that deep dive into the simulation output
also had a little tangent in implementing a digital differential analyzer (line drawing algorithm), i cant believe there are so few implementations of it!

last things to do: add in some line selection to the engine, and then i can finally go back to the UI

over the past two weeks i steadily got line selection implemented, albeit naively. that part's done. now comes the fun part: ripping out the old physics code and forcing the new one in :|

i forgot to give bosh a scarf so i did that
also fixed compatibility issues with the client

the biggest thing that need to improve is making the physics more efficient. test cases are in place so it'll be a smooth process. but this is not a priority atm.
the majority of the work from now is going to be on the client which is closed-source. stay tuned
