Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Version http://www.mediafire.com/?e5uy616s66zb79e
Okay, I'm just going to list off the stuff:
Strike out = Features to be removed
By default, opens at 1280 x 720
Text alignment bug fixed
flag lock toggle
Quirk physics added
-To keep people from passing off quirk for real, I made the scarf have spasms for an obvious difference.
pause button fixed
pop lines added
Line minimum fixed
Toolbar vectorized
-What this means is that the pictures you see are now hand drawn in flash, rather a pre-made image like a .png or .jpg (These were actually custom swatches, but they originate from an image). This reduces a small amount of lag. Pencil and flag have also been vectorized
Frames ratio meter thingy added
-First number = # of frame out of 40, second is well... 40, third is total frames.
Save menu safety questions fixed
-Menu is disabled until user presses yes/no
Line Counter Fixed
-Lines add/subtract properly now
Future Ideas/features to add/consider
Change Seconds to Minutes:seconds
Update help menu
Try to fix speedometer
-By my theory, this new speedometer will be slightly different, but a more accurate number.
Try to fix blink rate
-I honestly don't see why this needs to be fixed asap, but if people want to record using my slow motion settings, it's crucial.
Flags will save
Draw in Start Point 50 percent done, just need to figure out how to toggle it.
If rider has crashed, then flag is placed, sled will be broken upon playback
Zoom playback control
-Standard is 200 (Normal zoom when pressing play button w/out shift) and can be changed from 10-1000, or with a setting of current zoom that will play as if you are holding shift.
Assign Shortcut keys
-Pause/resume = |\ key thing (Below backspace, above enter/return)
-Play from beginning even when flag is placed = enter/return
-C for color shall be put in
-Options - to be determined
Separate editor for track and scenery
-I've learned some more code, and now I do believe I can have more than just shades, colors too! Here's what I have plan:
-While in track editor, you cannot edit scenery, and vice versa. This will allow for better control of what you want things to look.
-Shades will be replaced as "shaders". What this means is instead of the lines being a solid color, they'll gradually get more and more transparent, so you can add color, then shade the color to a darker shade. Lighter tint will need some brain storming however. Maybe a transparent white?
-Colors will be A) Six colors, Primary with secondary, or B) Twelve colors with Primary, Secondary, and Intermediate.
-Depending on which editor you're in, will determine what the lines look lines
-Track editor: "Ride-able" lines will show, while scenery will be faded
-Scenery editor: Drawings will show, while "Ride-able" lines will be black and faded.
Tell me what you guys think of this version (Do not mention the new lines), report any bugs, and throw ideas out there.

Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Want
Ghost flag toggle in playback settings
Ability to place 2 flags
Don't Like
Different shades/colors of lines
Quirk physics option
Hard reset button
Orange Lines
Bugs
Your link to your website doesn't work
Help section is severely outdated
EDIT: Sea Green is a bad name, just say pop lines, and the accelerating ones should be pink, just so they all are one syllable and can be combined easier (like bled is)

TheRevTastic wrote:What is this quirk mode you speak of?
Higher endurance physics (cheating, essentially)
Not gonna lie, I downloaded this yesterday, and I'm having a blast! It's still too easy to be official, though.
Also, want: option to toggle slo-mo lock

Seems odd to name a mode after a style that already uses that name to me.
Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Yeah after playing around with it a little more I actually don't like these very much. They are fun for some quirks, but using them elsewhere is very iffy. They are incredible easy to pull off flings. It is also very easy to gain an insane amount of speed. For example, I increased his speed from ~3-5 pixels per frame to 13+ in only 5 frames. I'm beginning to agree that it shouldn't be an official version, but I still like some things better than 6.7.Cereal wrote:Not gonna lie, I downloaded this yesterday, and I'm having a blast! Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Well that's one thing settled, no more quirk physics.
Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Don't get me wrong, I still like the direction you are taking this, it's just the new lines and quirk physics are not cutting it for me

My Thoughts on the Matter
Line Rider is essentially a dumbed down Halo. It needs to be more like Super Mario Galaxy.

So you are saying we need to make a halo reach?JoaTrades wrote:Line Rider is essentially a dumbed down Halo. It needs to be more like Super Mario Galaxy.

And how do we make it like that?
Also guys, i'd like feed back on some of these things please, I don't want to do all that work to find out no one wanted them in the first place.

Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Also, I like how bosh's scarf goes all crazy in hax mode, rather than a watermark.
Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
How about a color playback so that you don't have to press y when you load a track.

For Kevans...
New Lines (orange, sea green, and purple) Just don't like the physics involved all that much, plus I don't really find a use for orange lines
20:40:60 frame counter Regular Frame counter is good
Colors, I don't know why, but I really don't like how this looks in my head

The new lines are under debate. There is basically the same amount of people who like it as dislike
The orange lines are for track planning/signatures that won't apear on the playback
Frame counter, you're the first
Colors, under debate.

I don't know, nor do i care since It's going to be removed.
Also guys, i forgot to mention this, Please explain why you hate a feature, (This can be as simple as "I find it frustrating"), otherwise I'll just ignore you. Basically I want a good reason.
Re: Let's talk about this new version + Future ideas
Keep the new lines, but change the name "Purple" to "Pink" since they're clearly pink. >_>

looked purple to me. I'll try to fix it either way. Pink rename or Purple recolor?
