WRTL Patreon account?
Every (major) track released on this site goes to a WRTL patreon acc and if we get money, we buy a paid forum and then a house we can all live in.
what do you think?

Consider ning—essentially a streamlined social network specialized for Line Rider. https://www.ning.com/pricing/

who would want to be responsible/take initiative for any of this?

...pardon me
Re: WRTL Patreon account?
But who is going to be putting money into the patreon? The people in the community would basicly be paying for the whole thing. Second, what would qualify for a paid track? If we had say OTDE run it as the administrator of the site, he would get flack for choosing whether or not certain tracks should count for this because at least 1 person would disagree with whatever track is chosen, or get pissed that their track didn't count and another one did.

Yeah, on further thought, I'm not super jazzed about the idea of spearheading this.

Re: WRTL Patreon account?
I mean it obviously be determined via a poll. One person is far too biased. But with the size of this community the bias is realy.

Someone has to manage these polls, make people vote, and actually commit time to take action on the poll results.

Re: WRTL Patreon account?
as long as i dont have to buy the forum related stuff (im not an expert on that) i would be willing to manage the polls here on wrtl aswell as setting up the patreon page. i however dont want to be the owner of the paypal account or bancaccount or whatever.
we need to do several things for the patreon page:
- an introduction video
- a 1600x400 cover image (of some scenery maybe)
- a short article why were doing this
- a wrtl youtube account where ALL "relevant" line rider videos which are posten on this forum will go(this means that you allow the forum to post your track on the previously mentioned wrtl youtube account)
- a specific money goal (and a reason for that goal, for exmaple a paid forum)
- donation rewards
- a "thank you message+video"
btw i think rabid needs to be fine with us going on patreon!

i dont know lets find out. some of us have a decently sized viewerbase and if we can get another viral video, we might have a few patrons. its all about viewerbasetheacp127 wrote:But who is going to be putting money into the patreon?

Re: WRTL Patreon account?
I'm sorry, but this reads like "As long as I don't have to the stuff that's hard or people will give me shit for, I'm fine with doing the stuff that looks nice."
I also think, given the way most of the community has harassed rabid for having a patreon to the point where he has effectively had to leave a community he has almost singlehandedly kept alive for the better part of a decade, that you can perhaps allow him to have mixed feelings about someone suggesting the idea of a community patreon.
Maintaining a viewer base for Line Rider is hard, and you're expecting a lot of work to be done—for free, mind you—so that you can enjoy a paid forum.
Large viewer bases are nice, sure, but maybe can we focus on being a kinder community for the people who are already here first?

Just notifying you, this is quite passive agressive and an overstatement. I can think of only a few people who would fit that description, not most of the community..OTDE wrote:I also think, given the way most of the community has harassed rabid for having a patreon to the point where he has effectively had to leave a community...

Providing a Paypal account is not hard and having regular payments for something isnt hard either. i just dont want to be responsible for the money things since i wont have as much freetime as i have now and i dont want anything to expire because i didnt pay in time or something.
but i suggest we drop the idea. i dont see how this community can maintain anything other than making tracks.

i just offered that i would care for EVERYTHING except providing a paypal acc. why exactly am i expecting a lot? what is a lot for you?

Re: WRTL Patreon account?
It's clear I've let my anger and bad judgement get the better of me on this one. I apologize.
Rafael, you are correct. I won't generalize like that any more.
Lukking, I misread your post. I still don't think this is a good idea to make the patreon, but that's not a huge amount of responsibility on my end, you're right.
I don't understand why allowing someone to feel a certain way about something warrants a "the fuck," but I clearly should collect my thoughts and read posts better before I comment. Again, sorry.
EDIT: This could be a misinterpretation? All I was saying was "rabid's feelings of hurt are valid," not "his feelings invalidate this project."

Re: WRTL Patreon account?
Like I've said in the past I'm willing to let WRTL use my XF license (it would still be my property, but I haven't used it for anything in years) for the forums. That's a $40 cost due to having to purchase the license extension on it for 1 year (we can still use it now, just an older version, newest version is way better). And then hosting would cost us around $6 a month.
Re: WRTL Patreon account?
why are we considering a new forum in the first place?
