Community Line Rider Documentary
I've had this idea for a while, but it's never really taken off because no one really wanted to go on camera. Now that the livestream is up, lots of people do it. Obviously, though, since we can't actually go to people's houses and interview them, we have to fudge it a bit. So, anyone who's interested, here's what I'd be interested in:
- People who can appear on camera (preferably a real camera, but a webcam will do fine if you don't have one) to answer questions, which would involve reading the question, posing in a way that makes it sound like you're listening for about 5-10 seconds, and then answering it to the best of your ability in a way that doesn't sound scripted. It doesn't have to be perfect.
If you're not comfortable showing yourself on camera but still want to contribute, I can blur out your face pretty easily, and I can see what I can do about the audio as well.
- People who can make up questions that would reveal stuff about the history of Line Rider, linerider.com, linerider.org, iridethelines.com, weridethelines.com, and some basic theory behind Line Rider itself. Bonus points if you can also help with general script writing for the narration and such.
- People who can narrate and "ask" questions. Obviously we can't have the same person asking as answering a question, but there can be a little bit of overlap.
- People who can track down guys like anomaly, fsk, and TD, and ask them to contribute. I think this is probably the most important task of all, actually. Bonus points if you can find those old Q&A-type interview pic things from .org (the oldies will know what I'm talking about).
So, who wants to make a movie?

I'm down, you could use skype for the interviews and edit out the skype part; So you just have your face and their face.

I'd rather have the raw video file for higher quality, rather than recording something via Skype. Plus, having two faces being recorded that are clearly not in the same room kind of takes away from the atmosphere.rich wrote:I'm down, you could use skype for the interviews and edit out the skype part; So you just have your face and their face.
Also, peeps, if you just say that you'll do it, or that you're down, or whatever else, I'll just assume you can do anything I want you to do, including make me a sandwich.

But if you want to animate yourself, that'd be kinda cool, as long as we can ask you about Bosh's Adventures.

I could be a guy who is on camera and answers questions. But uh... I don't know if I have any answers.

Narrated by morgan freeman.
Anyways, I WOULD try to ask for an interview w/ td, but... it would be insanely awkward, if you know what I mean. I live about 30 minutes away from him.
Anyone have the location of any other ledgends? Also, Ram Tzu (if he's not a ledgend) would be nice to interview as well.
I'd also like to have a few interviews from the most social people on the website to talk about why LR still matters.

Re: Community Line Rider Documentary
One idea for the general "story" of it:
We want to interview fsk, TD, and ezo, and a bunch of oldies about stuff, but we need it to be a big thing first, so we set off to make our own documentary stuff about the background that people should know about them and about Line Rider, and then we have this big thing where we find people that can actually go interview them, or at least talk to them, or anything like that.
So, yeah, meta-documentary style.
The storyboarding would go something like this:
- A bunch of clips of people talking about what they think Line Rider is (Important background info mixed with"Well, I mean, it's not really a game, is it?" type of talk) intertwined with livestream-type clips of people playing LR and small sections of super awesome tracks.
- Someone slides from that into the community, then who they'd want to meet IRL from the Line Rider community if they got the chance.
- Some clips of people talking about how far apart people are, various people that are inactive, and how the community's been slowly... downsizing, and such, and speculation about what it'd be like if the oldies were still active.
- Short title: "Line Rider: The Documentary" or something like that.
- Narrator talking about the community getting together to make a documentary, and wanting to interview people that are long inactive and such.
- We start going through them basically in chronological order, but not actually going through the interviewing of the super-suspenseful-omfg-people until after a lot of stuff goes by. The order of people would probably go something like this, assuming we're staying quirker-light (mind you, 3/4 of these guys are unreachable, but we can hope):
1) UnConed
2) Ezo
3) Holcomb
4) anomaly
5) Wizzy (lol)
6) Chih (lol)
7) Ram Tzu
8) x612nt13
9) Sorvius (should be an interesting perspective)
10) BHCS
11) LineRiderGjert
12) rabid
Yes, I am intentionally setting up a clusterf***.
13) TechDawg
14) fsk
15) Possibly mhenr to talk about the future of Line Rider?
I didn't really want to put Ezo early like that (frankly, I doubt we'll hear from him anyway), and I know I'm missing a LOT of important people from .org, so, yeah, it's a WIP. Also, of course, we'd have a scattering of nubs like Guest in there, but that's just so that it's not simply one thing after another.
Also, I'm typing this at 6 AM, so don't expect any of it to make any sense to anyone tomorrow, and don't expect it to make sense to anyone today except for me. PEACE.

Re: Community Line Rider Documentary
I'm not volunteering myself, sorry, buy in terms of asking questions, are you planning on doing that thing where they put the text of the question on screen before cutting to a video of their response? That might work.

Re: Community Line Rider Documentary
^ I was planning on having a thing where it has an audio recording of someone asking the question while the interviewee sits there looking like they're listening, hence the "posing in a way that makes it sound like you're listening for about 5-10 seconds". I feel it's more personal that way, and not just "lawl some dude answering some question". The way you suggest would work fine for the opening parts, but, frankly, the question doesn't even need to be asked there.
