Line Rider v3 progress thread (Flash version)
I want to show you guys what it's going to look like, so please tell me if you guys have any issues
I guess I might as well be doing this. even though I don't want to ¬¬
Newest Update
~playback control - Pause, rewind, fast forward, and frame forward/back - working
~physics - Switch between standard and quirk (PLEASE DO NOT ASK WHAT IT IS!) - done
~color playback - When you press play/"y" it plays in color w/out having to hold "c" - almost done
~slowmo control (Previously recording) - plays simulation at certain speed, 1fps for recording is included.
~camera sensitivity - Control the box where bosh will trigger camera movement. smaller the box, the more centered bosh will be. bigger, the closer to the edge he will be. Will include a reset button and save/load buttons.Saves will be their own sol file. - working
~Zoom playback - A slider bar will be provided so when you press play, the playback will be at that level. A scale will be provided for reference. - working
~Contact points - on/off setting so you can see contact points for those of you who want to use it. - working
~Frame skipping - self explanatory since Mhenr explained this so many times. - working.
~green trash bin - hold shift and press 3 on your key board to delete all green lines. The purpose of this is to allow smaller sols so recording is easier. - working
~Autosave - almost done
~Color swatches - Choose between 7 colors - working
~Guide lines - self explanitory
~Zoom in/out lines - when bosh triggers them, player will zoom in/out.
- Spoiler:
- and no uber color

Re: Line Rider v3 progress thread (Flash version)
2 things:
1) I wouldn't recommend putting a quirk physics setting, It could just be best if you have it separate... Its not exactly legal*
2) instead of 1FPS you should make it 2 FPS, 1 FPS would just be insane, and 2 fps goes into 40 better(?)
Otherwise, Its pretty nice. The one feature I'd like you to add would be from mhenr's 8.0, and that is the real time play back skipping feature. Could be sweet.

First, define legal. Second, just set hyper cam to record at 1 fps, but playback at 40. Frame skipping I can do, but im not a big fan of it because if it's used on a slow computer, it looks even worse.

Working on it
Re: Line Rider v3 progress thread (Flash version)

I actually have no idea how it works, but 6.8 can do it, so that's why it's there.

Yes, it just adjusts the zoom.
(And no - I won't release 6.8 in an incomplete state. I'll instead release my really fast C version once it's done. Having 10k lines occupy 300mb of RAM compared to 980mb for ~1.8k in the flash version is kind of awesome)

Re: Line Rider v3 progress thread (Flash version)
If you decide to keep the quirk physics (I'd rather you not), then at least make it have a (bigass) watermark or something..

alright cool, thanks for letting me know. ^^

Thought of that. But if you have worked with quirk/hax physics, it's kind of obvious if it's being used. I'll create a image text (That way no cheat engine like program can be used) somewhere that changes between standard and qurik. but it needs to be in a spot that can't be avoided by simply adjusting the recording screen.

The admins will just delete your post if you release a version without modified physics that make it easier. Don't bother.

No. When people are quirking, they're exploiting flaws in the physics model used by LR. Why should you make it easier to exploit these flaws?
The reason my stuff got noticed and endorsed by inXile instead of the other countless hacks was that my work extended LR - it was "in the spirit" of the game instead of just turning it into a joke.
If you want to introduce a new dynamic to LR, why not introduce something actually interesting and "in the spirit" of LR? Double sided lines, smart guides (think about how Illustrator lines up lines and objects) or stacked acceleration (if you draw multiple acceleration lines on top of each other, LR would combine them into a single line with a higher acceleration) are all examples of changes that whilst changing gameplay, keep it distinctive, enjoyable and "in the spirit" of Line Rider.

Re: Line Rider v3 progress thread (Flash version)
I'm just going to quit this all together. I'm still going to work on it for personal reasons, but it's going to be more of a hax then an advancement. I wish luck to mhenr and conundrumer.
