Always thought of a combination between hand and shoulder fling.

8 contact points, 4 on the sled 4 on bosh. they can be pulled in any direction at varying intensities to speed. if a fling fails it is likely that the intensity has changed, from either length from bosh changing or angle to bosh changing.
considdering this there are also 2 main positions for bosh's outer extremities to sit in (hands and feet) with secondary positions becoming avaliable when he fakies. secondary positions also affect the 2 back-end pegs (moving the bottom one forward and the top one backward) and the 2 nose contacts forward and backward in such a manner that basically a large trapizium is formed.
anyway back to the origional point, any fling can be made from any part of the mentioned contact points in any direction, it's just a matter of balance and tuning of intensity.
probably offtopic, but it partially explains why pod thought it was just pulling his feet and hand at the same time.
