Rabid's Video of the Week #5 - LOVE by Z_N-Freak
Welcome to video of the week, where I pick a random video from my exceptional playlist and talk about it in depth

THIS WEEK'S VIDEO: #27

This one is a heck of a lot to talk about.
By the time LOVE was released, MrZNF had made himself famous through blue manuals and won several MOTWs, and had been experimenting with the style that would become his signature fling quirk style (e.g. in OWNT and PWNT), but people didn't see it as his signature style yet, they just saw it as experimentation, similar to redcap trying out manuals
This track, however, changed all that. This, while not MrZNF's most notable track, is the one that got his signature style started (the style we call "ZNF style" ) It's fast paced, it's unpredictable, it's quirky, it's speed, it's flingy, it's manualy, it's flowy... It was like unlike anything before it, and has indirectly and partially inspired nearly every "fling quirk" since.
It's a shame that this was released right after ToC ended. The "ZNF era" of quirk started with this track and ended with EPIC, (KING was released much later) which was a span of about 6 months (8/07 to 2/08), and ToC2 started 5 months after that. If ToC had been held at the time EPIC was released, I'm sure ZNF would have blown everyone out of the water. So his gold ToCC trophy and silver ToC2 trophy is really a gross underestimate of his impact. So are his MOTW trophies, because he stopped entering MOTW somehwere around the release of LOVE, because he decided he was winning too much (I believe he has something like 10, which was about twice as much as anyone else at the time). For those of us that lived it, you can remember that a huge chunk of the forum was somehow related to ZNF in those 6 months
Anyway, back to the track. Before this track, people either made scened tracks that had very few gravity wells, fast-ish manual tracks, or slow quirks. When this track came out, people said "wait, wut? a SPEEDY quirk???" It caught on instantly. I could actually name quite a few members whose tracks are virtually ALL the type of track ZNF started with LOVE.
This was also a wake-up call to everyone to the possibilities of quirk. Everyone saw this track and ones similar to it, and said "holy cow how is that possible?" It didn't necessarily introduce new tricks, but it placed them so that the whole thing somehow flowed together and looked great.
Let's just say this is the track that got Fling Quirk and "ZNF style" started

Re: Rabid's Video of the Week #5 - LOVE by Z_N-Freak
it truely is one head boppin of a track
anyway, i remember seeing love i think like a few days after its release, and the thread topic for it in bare tracks was like 3 pages i think? idk. anyway, point is, even in irtls prime, thats alot of hubub over one track. as rabid sed it was truely inspiring for alot of people, and it caught on quickly.
one thing to note tho for those readers who hit the scene late 09 early 10 area, for 2008 standards, the speed in this track compared to other quirker tracks is like the rush type speed of its time. line rider was in a way still in its game exploration stages, and this was a first for many tracks to come.
also +rep rabid cuz ur boss for doing this, i dont think ill rep you every week, but you deserve some credit too
