Purtle wrote:At first I thought maybe Sheldon is worth LRL when looking at the quotes from others you put in the nominations thread. However, I decided to scroll back to the top to see the full list of LRLs.
As I read through the names, as harsh as it may sound, I felt as though Sheldons name being placed along with those listed just doesn't quite fit right with me. Not sure how else to describe it. Those names listed are all in a league of their own above him in my opinion.

Orthuss wrote:I've seen a bunch of Sheldon nominations around, and I'd like to throw mine out there too. Yes to Sheldon. To me, he's definitely influenced a lot of modern LR. I feel like a lot of modern XY with heavy focus on powerful wells and stacking, for instance, takes a lot of clear inspiration from Sheldon's crazy XY section in Centrifugal Force 2 and the last section in Limitations, made by Sheldon and HP. Also, a lot of modern stack-based fling quirk feels hugely inspired by tracks such as Valance and Valence 2. It feels like Sheldon can take pretty much any style (see: Silhouette, Retrograde) and make something great. I feel like the main argument against Sheldon for LCC right now is "he hasn't made that one big development" but I feel he's made a lot of important medium-sized developments that warrant a legend spot.
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
Despite a couple of dissenting votes...
Sheldon has been promoted to Line Rider Legend
Sheldon has been promoted to Line Rider Legend
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
sent about a week ago. waited on posting for emotions to settle.Sheldon wrote:I was going to wait till after Mount Olxympus, but that cannot happen. I have however seen what there is to see of that track as well as Gone, Nocturnal, Limitations, etc. These tracks as well as his influence IMO earn [boo] a spot in the games top dogs. (LRL)
.boo previously received yes votes from dapianokid and OTDE, and no votes from Rafael and Chuggers
Also, I would like to say that boo getting or not getting LRL should not be used as to judge the worth of his person. We can all agree he probably would have gotten in in the not-too-distant future.
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
OTDE wrote:here's my opinion on .boo
He had a lot of phases
One where he did a lot of grolling
One where he tried to be a king
Some alt, some hypersync
Every little phase he had had a direct influence on how others made tracks.
He was a huge part of my formative years-- I looked up to him like nobody's business
And I think I'm not the only one
The quality, scope, and influence of .boo's tracks, in my opinion, is more than enough to cement him as LRL.
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
shotoku wrote:Pure definitely.
Boo definitely.
Helios no.
Sssschiller no.
OTDE maybe right in the middle.
Chuggers maybe if he puts out just one more jaw-dropping full track soon, right now leaning towards no.
Summoning maybe leaning towards yes.
I want to put in a nomination for Lukking, maybe from me leaning towards yes.
I also want to nominate Opal, maybe more leaning towards no.
Lastly, nominate Votale, maybe right in the middle.
boo has three yes votes but nobody else has put a word in. anyone?
(my personal opinion would be no. Some great tracks - nocturnal, gone, boom, the charmer, mudskipper, the beautiful struggle, ahead of the curve - but I've never felt like anything in those was legend worthy. Fun, sure. Impressive, sure. Unique, sometimes. But nothing that was genre-defining or game-changing or made my jaw drop.)
EDIT:
shotoku wrote:As a last thought, IGGB for nomination, at least for discussion. I don't know a lot about him but what I do know is pretty good.

Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
Sheldon wrote:I whole-heartedly believe that Lukking is deserving of Line Rider Legend. He has had a great impact on the community in the genre of quirk and creativity. He broke tracks, developing a method of track making that makes anything possible. And this is through psuedotrack animation, an amazing concept he developed. He also made the amazing tracks Catgroove, and Origin.
Amazing player.
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
It turns out Kramwood, Sheldon, and OTDE all remember IGGB being LRL. So. His rightful status has been restored.
Let me know if anyone remembers when/why he was promoted, because I remember absolutely nothing on the subject.

Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
Z_N-Freak wrote:Can't say I clearly remember this, but I'd expect it would be because of Blue Champion, which was released 5 years ago. So the promotion would have happened on WRTL, but I can't seem to find anything about it. Hopefully somebody else will remember more.
Okay, so. I went back and did some digging. Here's what we know:Rafael wrote:As much as I'd like to see him LRL, Â I'm a 100% sure he was never been promoted. This because I've nominated him many times and every time people were disagreed.
- BC was released in March 2010
- The old site went down in May 2010
- IGGB was nominated for LRL in February 2011, and shot down pretty quickly (in the LCC discussion thread, it's hidden because I don't want everyone's opinions exposed)
SO it may have been possible that he was LRL for a month or two on the old site, but since we have no proof of that and his nomination was shot down a year later, he shouldn't be LRL.
I don't know why I was so quick to decide that people's memories must have been right, since he's been not-LRL for approximately 5 years on this site and nobody has disputed it until now. I don't know why I decided I my memories must be wrong so quickly. In any case, he's not LRL anymore now.
However, if a lot of people think he SHOULD be, we could promote him, lol.
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
I dredged up this discussion about IGGB from back in February 2012 because Sheldon was wondering why he didn't get LRL. Withheld identities to not break confidentiality by posting publicly.Sheldon wrote:but i do think [IGGB] should be [LRL]
...
it may just be we dont see his influence until now
- Spoiler:
- IGGB for Legend. Music syncing is really getting popular now, and he's the one that made it famous....he is? Correct me if I'm wrong, but music syncing happened a lot waaay before IGGB started playing.^ Yeah, but non-legends are starting to use it now. I know tracks such as Bipolar have been released, but it got famous after Blue Champion.rabid squirrel wrote:bolted to the wall was music synced extremely purposefully he even listed in in the credits and told me he was inspired by it.
If gets legend for that reason alone, I should get legend tooWhat the ... ? WHAT!?!
Apparently you all have forgotten Transcendental. TD has synched since he was born
(Oh, and I have too, ever since [track] (And I think FC has done pretty long (As well as anomaly )))I don't see how Transcendental was synced to music. He added sound effects, but he hasn't synced the track to the music (instead of syncing the music to the track).
I started realizing how the music sync thing worked after Blue Champion. Votale did too (correct me if I'm wrong Votale), and I'm pretty sure more people did.Too many people have synced for it to be very special. Have we all forgotten one of the best? Bjerre. He always used a Muse song for his Blends and synced them to it FOR THE MOST PART. That's what inspired me to sync my anniversary track (omg that tracks sucks now) which was [track] or w.e. I accidentally synced somewhat in [track], [track], etc. Everyone syncs really, I don't think legend should be given out for something like that That's only my opinion though.rabid squirrel wrote:1. Bolted's syncing was planned long before Transcendental was released
2. Transcendental was totally synced. Maybe he found a song that synced rather than the other way around, but the golden gate bridge, the houses, the flame, the lighthouse scene, and the end all match up perfectly.
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
I dredged back through the LCC nomination thread.efrazable wrote:Both [boo and Lukking] had insanely good tracks from before I was even riding, and I was even surprised to learn that neither were already LRL. I'd say yes to both simply for that, even if their latest tracks weren't as relatively "legendary" as the ones from the past.
...
what was the reason that neither were LRL in the first place?
- lukking was promoted to LCC in summer 2010 and demoted in summer 2011, never nominated for LRL. His next (and by far better than anything before) track was catgroove. He was never really close in 2010/2011, lagged behind people like hedge and aspi.
- .boo was LCC from august 2009 to november 2010, and then later from August 2012 (immediately after boom) until we dissolved LCC in 2014. Was also never nominated for legend. His activity sort of stopped along with the rest of the site fall of 2013. site sorta started coming back summer of 2014, boo showed up again spring 2015.
As far as I can tell, Lukking was nowhere close to legend material at the release of origin, and boo wasn't that close at the release of Ahead of the Curve either (his last completed track, released in 2013)
[12/12/15, 11:08:54 PM] Ethan Frazier (efraz): also devray

[12/12/15, 11:10:44 PM] Ben Harvey: he was never even lcc
[12/12/15, 11:10:52 PM] Ethan Frazier (efraz): why was that?
[12/12/15, 11:10:59 PM] Ben Harvey: he wasn't very good?

Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
Commandercoke wrote:I say no to both lukking and .boo. Same goes for IGGB if that's still being debated. I think some people are misinterpreting or skewing the point of LRL. And just because LCC is gone doesn't mean those people have done enough with the game to be considered LRL. /harsh
Re: Line Rider Legends - Discussion & Nomination
MORGANg wrote:Ive been gone awhile.... But I just read the LRL nomination thread. Votale for LRL. He inspired me to actually release tracks on youtube. He released some almost legend worthy tracks, but he went out of his way and would message people on youtube when they released LR videos telling them about the site and promoting it. His XY tracks were unbelievable to me, at the time of me watching them six years ago. I do not even know if he is around anymore to be completely honest, but I just wanted my voice heard.
