CotM #25 (Febuary 2015) - "I'm Bringin' Booty Back" [RESULTS ARE IN]

COTM #25!!!

I came up with this concept to symbolize what I'm trying to do with CotM, by "bringin' it back".

GOAL:
In this contest, the penguin is launched out of a box at ~45 pps. The goal is to get the penguin back into the box as FAST as possible. There are two categories; kramual and non-kramual. Kramuals are allowed!

RULES:
Because of the vast experience of our members, I will be counting in frames, not seconds. 1:20 frames will be the "zero", and it is highlighted on the .sol. None of your own lines may touch the penguin, sled, etc until 1:21 frames. At that point, you may use as many lines as you like to bring the penguin back into the box. The frame count will stop once bosh is entirely within the box; a little nub of sled outside the box will prevent the given frame from being your time. PM me your entries when done plz.

In the event of a tie, a tiebreaker will be held; the same contest on a similar track, but the penguin will be launched at 180fps.

Also don't share scores plz.

what counts as "in the box"? Does the green diagonal limit the box? Does the graphic bosh have to be in the box, or the contact points? Does the black line, which delimits the box, count as "in the box", "out of the box", or does the middle of the black line delimit the box?

orthuss ya got me. make sure the penguin stays on sled, and get him into the larger box. also, write your name in the "hi my name is" box if you feel like it.

dang gao you got me too the green diagonal counts as a side of the box. if the penguin is inside the green line, he's "in the box". also, the outer edge of the line (the edge facing out into the white abyss) is the limit; if there isn't a single pixel of the penguin/sled other than his scarf that pokes out the side of the line, then the frame counter stops. in other words, the first "here" of your picture is the boundary. cool?

not really sure what to do about this, but if it is a version difference that causes this, then I'll say that IF ANYONE IS WITHIN ONE FRAME OF THE WINNER OF EITHER CATEGORY, THIS WILL ENACT A TIE-BREAKER!! :rabid:nvm gao gave me a simpler idea. let's go with just simple subtraction from the highlighted area.

Thanks for clearing that up, but I don't think you have to change the rules for tie-breaking. You could just do a subtraction, which would be the same number of frames for any version.

and don't feel bad if you were talking about your score or anything, it wasn't really in the rules or anything at the time anyway. it's just that when people know what everyone has, they get discouraged from entering unless they beat first place (or give up)

will there be a leaderboard for overall fastest?

Why won't anybody else use kramuals

after some discussion with some gusy, i'm announcing that KRAMUALS WILL BE ACCEPTABLE IN ALL ENTRIES, AND THERE WILL ONLY BE ONE CATEGORY OF THIS CONTEST!

there was some debate over whether or not a kramual would actually HELP in this contest, and eventually found out (mostly due to the diagonal take-off) that it won't help a ton, and that it'll spice up the entry video anyway.

And with that said, congrats to dap, who is now in third place!

As a side note, I apologize if this contest appears unorganized :/
