Eden 2 vs. Gone
Two big-ass tracks. Two awesome track makers. One winner.

Re: Eden 2 vs. Gone
I guess now would be a good time to review Gone, especially right after reviewing Eden 2.
This is certainly an awesome extension of infinite, and definitely a huge solid track, but I don't know if Infinite was worthy of extension. The syncing is impressive but there are many many parts where it doesn't really fit. The tricks are off the hook but it felt like you were going for something more that that, so I'd like to take a look at this as if it were an attempt to create "music visualized" - the concept everyone seems to be aiming for and missing
- Intro was great, but LONG. SO LONG. I loved the first bit, but then 0:35 and 0:50 were both moments where I was like "okay now what" However, when I forced myself to sit through it it did build up to the start better than Eden 2.
- I don't understand the title? I just don't?
- 1:06 this moment was really cool, but it's the only part like it in the whole track, and the music isn't doing anything particularly awesome so it doesn't fit much
- I just generally don't understand the rapping in this song, it's about nothing in particular? Makes it kind of hard to know what you're going for in the track
- 1:13 the music has not changed at all but the track has a huge shift here
- 1:29 the music has a moment here but the track doesn't really
- 1:33 seriously what the hell is he rapping about? I have no clue
- 1:41 this was a great moment
- 1:43 what the fuck is this you're ruining the great moment
- 1:48 huge moment in the track, why didn't this sync?
- 1:52 what the fuck is he wrapping about butts now
- 1:57 sudden speed up? why?
- 2:13 smooth manuals all of a sudden? why?
- 2:26 why did you stop?
- 2:28 why is he trying to sing he sounds like a hoarse goat
- 2:40 again, why is the track so busy when the music is so static
- 4:48 to 3:08 this was GREAT. best part imo
- 3:10 why did you start doing xy that was a great moment
I'm sorry this is so negative. I don't feel I can really speak to the quality of the tricks but they look really impressive and really intense to me.
You said in the credits that you wanted to achieve a track that had a balance of vision, technicality, and instinctive trackmaking. I saw the technicality, and I think you are the only one who can say if it was instinctive trackmaking, but I really didn't see the vision. I saw great individual moments of individual syncing (I could list them off but there are a lot and I'm tired of typing), but the large sections did not make sense with the music at all, and there were a couple great extended moments ruined by jumping back into intense stuff before the moment was over. You also commented about making certain sections certain ways to make fun of stuff but that did not come across to me at all?
Overall, it felt like this fell into the same issues as Jam, only more so - good individual syncing moments, but lacking good overall sections and being really fickle about what style to portray in a section. And the song not really having a lot of depth and thus making it difficult to work with.
Helios has fallen into some of the same problems - sections that don't fit, fickle style changes, BUT - he is willing to let moments cook for a bit (e.g. the pinch) and try crazy ideas (e.g. the ending) and his track overall shows better vision in the different sections of the song working with the different sections of the music (you can see all the negative stuff I said about his track in that thread)
So Helios GMV
tl;dr read it

Re: Eden 2 vs. Gone
These two tracks are quite possibly two of the most soulful, emotional tracks in the history of LR. I believe tracks like these are what the future of LR is going to be; beyond even the most complex tricks, focusing on the feeling of tracks. 2013 begins the era of the "vibe."
Boo gmv. I felt that Gone was a fair bit more omni-oriented and had a certain higher degree of cohesiveness and logical progression. Both tracks are incredible in terms of both technical skill and entertainment, but Gone has a certain je ne sais quoi that edges it out against fellow masterpiece Eden 2 for me.

I kind of don't want to release my own omni anymore nowrabid squirrel wrote:[review]

Re: Eden 2 vs. Gone
Thanks for the review rabid, not going to really respond to it because this isn't really the right thread to do it.
Now I understand how Raf feels when you put alot into a track and have alot of fun making it, but someone interprets it another way. Also I was prepared for people not liking the song. But, this kind of music fits my personality and helps me put my own unique touch on lr. And no, I'm not saying it's bad if the music influences your perspective on the track. It's okay.
Oh, and I never really said this when I released it, but Gone is not my masterpiece. I don't believe in masterpieces because I feel like that applying that word to a track only holds you back. You can always do better with every track if you have goals and specific things to try/accomplish. This track was just my first attempt at trying to tell a story with LR.

Glad you're taking my harshness so well I typed it and then I was like "is this too harsh to post" and then I was like "nahh boo can take it"
Re: Eden 2 vs. Gone
The thing with the sync between both it seems unfit at times but it's decent over all. Another thing between both was the style of the two tracks which are the same besides the alt quirk part in boo's track. (This was just to make you see the similarities and now below there are the differences)
Now anyways boo's track it self was very nice overall, I mean the density was alright over all but at times it was pretty dense. Now the styles which where XY, Modern quirk, alt quirk these styles where commonly seen throughout the track. The flow itself played a role in how I saw this from eden2 in which the wells where the big difference. In boo's track they seemed forceful at times but mainly smooth and clean, so pretty much the flow played a big role in boo's track.
Now Helios track which seemed amazing and very stunning, like I said before it reminded me of kramwoods style. Anyways the styles I saw in this track where pretty close to towards boo's track which are XY Modern quirk, proquirk and that's pretty much it. They pretty much share a common number of three styles in my opinion. The flow as well plays a role in this to because it seemed relevantly flowy overall some spots weren't though. The wells now have played a big role because they where strong and they were stacked but they were very strong mainly, and made everything fast and speedy which is good. So overall in helio's track it was the wells that had the big role.
So Eden 2 gmv....

It's funny, most of the people in this thread said they voted for eden 2 but gone has more votes. If you voted for gone, tell us why! I'm confused

Nah, that wouldn't be fair to the other tracks.rabid squirrel wrote:if you want to bumpy our own thread..

Re: Eden 2 vs. Gone
I enjoyed Gone just on the fact that it felt impressive without the overbearing need to be complicated as all getout. It has a little bit more of a simple elegance to it that makes it feel more loose, and relaxed, than the other.
