WRTL Skype Chatroom

Yay or nay?
Meaning, have a room on Skype that we can chat and do calls in.

Pros:
More reliable than what we have currently.
More people likely to be in chat.
Easier to put together calls while streaming like Cereal has been doing recently.

Cons:
Not everyone uses Skype.
Less people watching stream.
Less active shoutbox.

I vote yes just because I'd rather have it, and I don't actually watch the stream much anyways because of my crappy internet connection at home, I usually pop-out the chatbox

Why the hell not.

Despite having a chat call, there will always be people that don't want to be in a call or won't want to at certain times, so the stream chat should be decently active no matter what. Or if someone wants to say something to someone else in the call but doesn't want to interrupt someone else who's taking, they'll probably type it in the chat. Just pointing that out. And not every streamer will us the skype call while he streams, so yeah. It'd be a cool idea. Voted yes cause why not.

I'm not sure about making it on skype. Much rather have something linkable from here, so that we don't have to add new people manually every time they join. Plus, some people use their skype for business reasons, and having a large group of people that talk a lot can get a tad annoying.

You can just make a group with everyone in it. They don't have to hear the call, they can just leave the call but still be in the group. And if you use your skype for business, just make a new one for WRTL stuff?

I understand how skype works, I'm just talking about the endless bleeping that'll go on all day every day. Granted, that can be fixed through notification settings, but then you'd have no idea when you get a new message

Because it is so hard to add someone to your contact list on Skype.

You can turn off notifications for certain groups, problem solved. I did that for the Pathfinder group you let me join the other day, and that is probably 50x more active than a WRTL one is going to be.

You can just type /alertsoff in the certain skype chat and you won't get bleeps for it, try it out :p

I'm against this. In another forum i was apart of a while back we were a pretty small community and we started a skype chat. We ended up just using it so much rather than the site we ended up shutting the site down. I'd rather not see that happen to this site as well

A skype chat is really a closed community thing. If you want more members you need to be open to new members, especially with the chatbox!
