It's really meant to be viewed as you would a movie. So, full screen on the largest screen you can find, good audio, and definitely no skipping around
Many of y'all are in the credits as inspirations, so check those out for sure.

- Quick thoughts while I watch (may contain spoilers):
- These won't be particularly organized...
I love how you keep introducing little ideas that you use throughout a part. Like the sharp things in part 2 and the fakie drops in part 1.
The beginning of part 3 is so much more sudden than the other two so far. That was cool. I know it's supposed to fit the music and that's what the music does, but I still think it's cool. Geez, when part 3 picks up is probably my favorite part so far! Very dramatic. What the crap, it never stops picking up. This is so cool.
Part 4 starting backwards! The rebel. Entirely in reverse! That was a relaxing part.
Part 5 and 6 are nice. I'm really liking the pencil stuff in 6 right now. Oh crap, I'm especially liking the half pencil half line parts. It looks so cool.
Wow. Part 7 was incredible. The scenery at the end and the animation was so good.
I felt like the whole thing was so unified. Nothing diverged or looked out of place. The music was perfect and you definitely made the perfect track around it. This is one of the best Line Rider tracks I feel like has ever been released.
Amazing all the way through.

this is really, really good. a few spots started to lose me a bit but that is by no means the fault of the track but more just the fact you were completely consistent in how you synced it to the music which i can't really call a flaw.
the ending was absolutely stunning, fantastic work rabid.

Beautiful. Subtle. Important.
It's not as grandiose as other magnum opuses—despite it's length. And it's not a novel concept either, but it's perhaps the most thorough of synced tracks. Unfortunately, I think what helps propel the greatness of the project (the music) also puts a leash on the project. With what you were "given" it's all executed without a flaw. I especially enjoy when you imitated the texture of sound with lines (has that been done before?). But given the length, I don't think it has enough highs and lows. So I'm curious to know if you pondered other music, or if this was what you knew to be your choice from the start, or if you just started the project half-hazardly and then you were too far in to change to an album that better suited your ideas? I'd like to know. I think it could accomplish the same goals as something more concise. We'll probably bicker about that lol. Part 1 works really well, and I think Part 2 is a great inclusion as a meditative portion (it might actually be my favorite part), but there then seem to be a bunch of areas that accomplish the same thing. Some parts (Part 4 for example) just don't allow the same amount of passion and creativity as others. That's my only critique. Outside of that, I think it's great. It should also be viewed multiple times for me to set my thoughts in concrete—so they're not. And it's probably the most successful idea to finished product you've made. I'm sure there's an insane amount of subtle nuances employed that I won't be able to pinpoint myself. You definitely don't need my validation lol, but you should be really proud, rabid. This is stupendously ambitious, smart, and successful. (Post)rock on!

I keep wanting to reply to this, but I feel like my words wont deal it justice.

I chose it primarily it's my favorite album. But for me personally, I don't currently know of another album that I'd ever like to make a track to (or another album I wish I'd done instead) in this style. This style of track can be made much more quickly than most styles in Line Rider (I made Colorblind in 3 days, and Line in 1 day) so an album-length track (that's about the same amount of work as an intense 3-minute quirk) is kind of a natural expansion on, and legitimization of, the style/concept of music visualization through flatsled.Commandercoke wrote:I'm curious to know if you pondered other music, or if this was what you knew to be your choice from the start, or if you just started the project half-hazardly and then you were too far in to change to an album that better suited your ideas? EDIT: I do also hope/plan to make totally different styles of track to totally different styles of music too, in the future. (This isn't supposed to be some kind of final masterpiece)

I thought I might finally log onto this website to leave a comment.
I had been putting off watching this for a while because, to be honest, I didn't know how you could make a feature film-length line rider movie and keep my attention.
However, I finally got around to watching it today, and my god that was truly something else. There isn't much I can say without repeating what others have said. Each part was not only creative, but extremely satisfying to watch. And that ending - something I won't forget anytime soon.
It's a tragedy that not many people can appreciate this form of art (through no fault of their own; line rider is quite niche). I hope this gets the attention it deserves. 300k views is not nearly enough.

300k views (and 6k likes and 1500 new subs) is beyond my wildest dreams so I'll definitely take it
