Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
Listen up gang, I'm trying to get back in LR, and I've noticed you have this crazy trick that everyone's doing, and I need a pretty specific tutorial on...
the ubersquishy.
You know, the thing where it's like the sled is mostly under the line and he's stomach-down against it. That is an intense trick, and I want to fool around with it.
I'll repay you with +rep, a favour, whatever you want.
Thanks!

You mean Kram's "Inversed Manual" or w.e those kids are calling it? I can't do it but I know georgio and Kram both have. I'm sure you just have to have bosh at the right speed and position then use a perfectly flat line.

I've also done some (he weren't surviving tho ), their not like uber uber hard.
There was also one in Rofl's new track

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
There could be a whole series of unexplored (but hard) tricks when getting into the inversed shoulder manual. Perhaps there might be an inversed shoulder squishy out there where the lines are facing outwards and he's in between or some ISM alt fling. That would be awesome.
EDIT: I still think it's some sort of body well. It needs to have a proper name when analyzed, though.

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
True. A short history on that:
Kramwood was the first to find it. He found it by accident while trying Votale's Maze Contest, the December 2010 COTM. [link]. Of course, others have claimed to find it, but Kramwood made the first ever surviving one. He then later made a short experiment with this new find. [link]. Later, Georgio used this new trick in his track "Flashkick", making it the first ever implementation of inverted flatriding in a full track. [link]. The only other implementation of this trick so far was by Pure, who, in the Rain of Life Clan collab "Efflorescent", replicated this trick, and made it into a flanual. [link]. He also added this trick (without the flanual ofc) in his part in the 7th ELR Collab. [link].
From what I've heard, the "Ubersquishy", as you call it, or "Inverted Flatriding", as others call it, is made by sending Bosh at a high speed, and while he is in a perfectly normal position (like the starting position, not tilted in any direction), he should hit an X line. The direction he is going should, of course, be downwards, but also slightly leftwards/rightwards, so you can get him out of the position by doing something else to it. This is usually done with a "bump" underneath the line Bosh is riding on. In most cases, the bump touches the tail or the nose. If you want to know more, I guess you could contact Kramwood, Georgio, or Pure about that.

^it's pretty much like this.. though, I think it's also possible with an unperfect X line.

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
Thanks a lot, guys, the history and nomenclature stuff was a pretty interesting read.
What I'm really looking for, though, is an annotated video of someone making one. Anyone feel up to it?

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
^sure, the .sol to that would be interesting to pick through, go ahead and post it if you feel like it.
As I said, what I'd really like is a video of someone actually making one (like, them actually drawing the lines and testing and adjusting it and such).
Upping the stakes here, if I can get that, I'll post a video of me working on the track I'm working on right now.

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
I've tried now for about 1 and 1/2 hours Hedge, but somehow I f*** up everytime I try to get bosh into the right position <_<
I can tell you though.. it's easier/possible when bosh's hand(s) is(are) like this:
And obviously the speed is important as well....somehow I got it 9/10 times too slow and once a tad to fast >_<

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
I don't know how it's supposed to work, does the sled get slammed so hard into the line that it gets stuck there?

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
@Orthuss: That's a LR Wiki-quality post right there. +rep
@This trick: I find it amazing that we've come as far as to have the sled physically underneath a line. If we saw this track in 2007 we'd poop our pants.

i find it's easier to do it off a hand fling.

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
That's just a regular squishy, sir, as it happens when his hands are down. It's easy to do that on a ceiling line, where it gets really bizarre is when it's on a floor line.rabid squirrel wrote:while we're on this subject...

Which is still not what I was talking about in this thread.
And Georg, yeah, I noticed that. In every clip I've seen, it happens only when his hands are down and he's rotating counterclockwise. That might just be because it's easier to keep his hands down when he's rotating in that direction, but it is rather noteworthy either way. (EDIT: my bad, the one in Efflorescence is rotating slightly clockwise)

at 5:08 where it says "watch the sled"
it's basically this trick except he doesn't stay on.
Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
Hm....I've just sort-of done this trick. I got him in the position for a frame and I added a line in front to move him slightly forward to continue the trick, then he dies. I'm gonna keep adding to this to see if it'll actually work that way...
EDIT: I think I've got two of them now...

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
Isn't the ceiling like up (shifted) and floor a normal line?
If so, I did it at a floor line without letting Bosh crash.

well, the trick where the sled rides "under the line" without him on is actually kinda old...
I did that glitch only it was completely vertical and you are able to stall it: [[Link]]

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
Holy [I am a potty mouth]. I just got it.
The trick is that you can't go too fast forward or backward when going into it because the sled has less friction than Bosh himself. Also, as established earlier, his arms have to be down.
Also, a good speed is about 2/3 of a sled length per frame.
Thanks for the help, guys.
EDIT: now how do I pop him out in XY?

idk if that is possible, whenever I see him pop out it's with non-xy lines =/

Re: Tutorial Request from Hedgehogs4Me
if a contact travels into two lines (one X and one Y) on the same frame it may push him out without killing him for an xy track.
otherwise you can just shoot him off the line into other lines and pray.

You take him off of the line and do another well related trick.
