«Static» by Anton
Yet another track!
Link
I just very recently decided to finish this thing, and I am kinda glad I did! Some moments are better than others, but this was never meant to be perfectly perfect. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
EDIT
funfact: the kramual cannon in the first attempt (1:54) is the first angled kramual cannon ever. Yes, ironic I know.

I think this could be a new genre of track making. I have a feeling more people will start adding more sections like this in their tracks.

Re: «Static» by Anton
this track flows better than most others, and it has 0 rotation (except for the transitions)
you are a beast in a mans body
this would be cool to see if bosh was always centered on the screen, like that one 3.4 camera mode

This is a really cool concept and really enjoyable to watch because of how unique it is (as others have mentioned) But I'm going to try to offer up a comment with more substance.
That said, I don't think any moments in the track stood out to me personally, either in the main track or the second one. There was a lot happening pretty quickly but I could never figure out if there was any intention behind what was happening, or what would happen next. I've watched the track probably 5 times or so (one in slow motion) and the only specific moments I can remember are the start, the end, the part you wrote on the screen "nah I'll keep it", and the spinning bit. I don't think this is due to a lack of perfection, just a matter of pacing and presentation and intention, and an awareness of what the final product will look like.
I'd like to compare this to Inverted Physics by FlagCapper - is there anything about that track that is remarkable other than the concept? Not really. It's an all blue all Y track, and that's all there is to say. I would say the same is basically true for this track.
There are my thoughts, take them or leave them. This track still deserves a standing ovation for taking a cool concept idea and executing it.

Really, really enjoyable and impressive track dude. I was caught in a trance throughout and really enjoyed the animationish parts scattered around. It's amazing how quickly you've developed yourself!

Cool stuff! I like that you're messing with categorization and creating some weird new genres. I hope to see more integration of this style into a fully fleshed out concept.
You've made it clear you can move bosh in whatever way you want. I'm excited to see what you do with that.

Re: «Static» by Anton
Let me start off by saying this track is really great. It explores a new concept that has only been briefly toyed with before and makes it into a legible, well presented track. The fact that Anton was even able to achieve 0 rotation at such speeds and in such dynamic sections of track is remarkable. However, my favorite part of the entire track was when bosh finally broke it's horizontal orientation and spiraled into a gravity roll. This was my favorite part not because the gravity roll itself was anything fantastic, but because it felt like the culmination of the entire first section of track. The 0 rotation, at least for me, created a baseline from which Anton was able to build and in turn made that gravity roll so much more interesting simply by comparison. I have no idea if this is what he was going for, but it's what I took away from it. My main complaint is that I wish the breaking of bosh's horizontal state had more relation to the music in order to emphasize certain moments in the song. Other than that, I thought this track did a very good idea of showcasing this new idea.
I disagree with the idea that the only value this track has is "Oh wow bosh is staying horizontal". I think there is a lot of value in the tension created by locking bosh from rotating which in turn makes the breaking of that position so much more dramatic. This is a technique that can be interwoven into other tracks to add build up and emphasize certain moments in regards to the music. For example, when part of a song falls flat, bosh can also stay locked in the horizontal position, and then throwing bosh back into a manual, gravity roll, fling, stack, etc once the music kicks back in will be much more powerful. I think it would be a nice change to see a 0 rotation section before a highspeed section as opposed to say 20 seconds of airtime. This is simply another tool that can be added to our toolbox.
Also liked the little hops at 0:21 and 0:45

This was really cool to watch. I really liked that the concept came together and it worked very well. It all looks so effortless.

If you're referring to my post, if you read it you will notice that we actually agree on pretty much everything. The spinning part was the most memorable part... I wished there was more intentionality in general while you were more specific saying it should align with the music... and we are both encouraging usage of this technique with more purpose (for tension or whatever else) I was saying that with THIS particular track there wasn't much more substance than "oh wow Bosh is staying horizontal", but definitely agree that there is huge potential for using this technique with more intention.shiny wrote:I disagree with the idea that the only value this track has is "Oh wow bosh is staying horizontal".
