OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DDDDAAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNN
I am unspeakably excited to see that this trick I kinda invented is becoming a thing. Can we give these an official name yet?
Also my excitement is compounded by the fact that iPi is making it

Re: epic manual track preview
I believe that these are just manuals, and the lines just aren't connected, just making for an awesome visual effect.
Edit: lol I said just 3 times oops, but iPi I can't wait to see it

Oh cool! I was thinking about if it was possible to do a curve like that last one, and now I see it is.rabid squirrel wrote:no but that's the whole ideaRyderLR wrote:I believe that these are just manuals, and the lines just aren't connected, just making for an awesome visual effect.

Even if it's not new, I think it's pretty cool to see it executed like this! That's what I've missed about iPi's tracks: he took simple ideas and executed them brilliantly

Re: epic manual track preview
Nearly a month later and I've made 2 seconds of progress. This is because I've been having technical (and IRL) issues. The track is at about 2300 lines and lag is already starting in FP10. I found that in FP8, it runs much better, but since I made the start of the track in FP10, it doesn't work in FP8. However, if I place a flag on the track in FP10, save it, and then load it into FP8, everything works fine. I've determined the only thing that breaks between the FP versions is the start point, so as long as a flag is saved on the track, I can work on it in FP8.

Re: epic manual track preview
Does that mean you need to record both parts and split it while editing? That's scary to me, accidentally losing the flag or something would really suck if I'm getting what you're trying to say.

Re: epic manual track preview
It basically means if I accidentally delete the flag or move it into a bad spot while working on it in FP8, I have to save the track, open it in FP10, place a flag, save it again, and then load it into FP8. It's a little annoying, but it's usable. No splitting is required. The issue is if I get to the point where I can't open the track in FP10 because it crashes. For example, I downloaded the .sol to Catgroove, and it plays fine in FP8, but crashes in FP10.

Re: epic manual track preview
Huh, well if it works, don't fix it.
By the way, that second spoiler is the most beautiful curve ever.

Re: epic manual track preview
unfortunately lag is probably just something you will have to deal with

After a 2 month hiatus, I actually got a lot done today (by a lot I mean 3 seconds). I'm experimenting with new manual tricks, and let's just say things are getting weird...
At this pace, I should be done in... a year

Here's an update:
Line Count: 5442
Length: 1 minute (out of 5)
8 Months in the making (although I've only been working on it regularly recently)
I've just completed what I'm calling the "Intro" Section, and now I'm moving on to highspeed manuals. Here's a screenshot at full zoom.

Yeah, it's a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it has allowed me to do things I haven't done before. On the other hand, I can foresee the linecount reaching 25k. I'm getting a new comp soon though, so hopefully it will work out.Rafael wrote:Holy crap dat lineboosting

Re: epic manual track preview
I added a progress percentage to my sig. Things are happening slowly, but at least they're happening. Also, here some more of that line.

Re: epic manual track preview
Holy shit. I have to thank you man. I was working on the track, and I hit 7k lines, and the lag got really bad with almost crashing while saving. I kept going anyway, and today I found that the .sol file completely erased itself. Because I had a backup, I ended up losing about 4 seconds, instead of the entire track. So, a minor setback which puts me at the linecount currently in my sig, but far better than what could've happened. I'm getting a new computer tomorrow, so this problem shouldn't happen again.iPi wrote:Done.Chuggers wrote:make a backup
