We Want Contest Trophies

After a staff discussion, we want to have contest trophies that last for four months. Every newsletter I will award them, and every newsletter I will remove ones that have been up for 4 months. For this month, I will put up any contests won in the last 6 months. So if you won one since July you will get a trophy until March.

I could do it myself but I am kind of busy with far too many things so I'm appealing to you all to help me out

We want something big and shiny and with the text easily replaceable, or else someone active who will be cool with making a different one for each contest (though they should all look similar) Doesn't have to be a trophy - could be a medal or a badge, but it needs to be big and cool and have the name of the contest on it. Line Rider related awards are a bonus.

any historical rewards happenin', for example getting a track featured?

That's an awesome idea! Maybe we could use a system similar to MOTM? This way newer people won't feel intimidated by people who have won loads of contests.

The trouble with awards was that inactive players would have 20+ awards and new people would look at that and go "I'll never be that good" so that is why we're having them only last under your avatar for 4 months. Nothing will last forever there, but if you go to someone's profile you can still see all the MOTW/Member Awards/Contests/ToC stuff there, and that stuff will last forever.

This thread is mainly about the graphics though. We need the actual trophies themselves and they need to be large and shiny and have the contest name on them.

Oh, and I should mention that battles also fall under this category

same rules as the trophies. they last for 4 months, and are given and taken away at every newsletter. if anyone wants to make them better, feel free.

The current design is way too big, imo. It should also blend in with the sites colors better

I'm okay with them being big. Big fat awards to motivate people

But as to design complaints, I am totally open to changes as long as YOU do them, not me.

Have you noticed that with rewards, the pages get twice as long? I think the right idea would be to go for pip bars, like we used to have back then. I could make a few examples if I get the time in the next few hours or so

These are a bit too big as chuggers said. I'm pretty handy with photoshop myself so I'll see what I can come up with and see what you think.

no real reason other than a feeling that 6 months is a better balance between recentness and not being too long. 4 months just seems tad short personally

PIP bars for sure imo, would blend in but you can definitely see them. and heck, I vote for every 3 months, isn't the idea to promote activity? Why prolong it? Take away their trophies, they want them back.

EDIT: Scratch that keep the trophies, but make the banners into PIPs

I don't want the trophies and banners to be confused with ranks, like the old MOTW. Hence why I want them underneath custom usertitles and not looking like the other PIPs. I do think the size may be too large but I really want the names visible on them, if someone can come up with a design where the names are still legible but they are smaller I will probably implement those. (But I also do like Bosh on both)

Do you think we could set up a system where instead of having the award name on the trophy, users can scroll over the trophies to see what they are? That way we can keep the text and shrink the size.

who gives a shit about it saying the contest name, just do the rollover with the mouse thing LIKE IT ALREADY DOES

also open to critique on design, but ill probably not make it too much bigger or add a bosh to it because why the hell

ill make a separate one for featured movies, will be a different color too
