Windows 7 Incompatability Empty Windows 7 Incompatability

Post by WTB Mon Mar 07, 2011 5:06 pm

I know this had been brought up before, but line rider, no matter what version, does not play smoothly on Windows 7.

No matter what. The window always reads 40 fps, but the playback is unbelievably choppy and it makes playing the game VERY demoralizing.
Changing the priority doesn't do anything. I've tried almost everything I can, but nothing.

Anyone experience this problem or know how to fix it?

I'm on windows 7 and I don't think I have that problem. Unless I've got so used to it I don't notice...
Have you tried re-installing flash player and the standalone?

I have the answer for you, my friend!

Go to the Flash Player .exe, right click it, go into proprieties, and under the Compatibility settings, check "Disabe visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition".

It will show the Seven Aero basic theme for as long as you have Line Rider open, but it will fix your problem.

Credits for the discovery go to TopazPie.

There is no Compatability settings under its properties, just General, Details, Previous Versions, and Security.
I could find no option named "Disable visual themes" or "Disable desktop composition" whatsoever

What version of Windows 7 are you running?
EDIT: I think you're checking the .swf's proprieties... You need to go into the .exe's.
EDIT2: Wait, you got it?
EDIT3: You got it. Glad I could help. Smile

I never have problems with this even when using Aero. You just need some RAM and a good video card.

Pizza is the answer to anything.

So, open the .exe in your favourite text editor, type pizza at the end, save, run, and WATCH EM GO!

(Or just don't use Faildows Very Happy)

Allow me to destroy your arguement, darling.
The way the new Aero theme was built, it uses Silverlight, which clashes with Flash Player causing, NOT low framerate, but frame DROPPING. Therefore, the only way to avoid it is using the simple theme.
And a bonus: Line Rider doesn't use the GPU at all.

EDIT: Just add a bit of proof, I'm running an i5-750 clocked at 3.2 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 at 1600 MHz and a GTS 250 (refference clock) and it still dropped frames. =)

Not really. Aero and Silverlight have no link.
