Re: Manuals For Fun 4 - RAPTO
Don't take this the wrong way, but this wasn't like simple at all - you had a rocket monument and lots of shading and stuff everythwere.Rapto wrote:@ wolf, my main goal in this track were to make a very simple scenery track, just like rabid did. But as i can see it became too simple
It was also much more detailed in the beginning than the end, and it didn't have any kind of theme, very much unlike archaeology.
Not saying it was bad at all - the rocket was well-drawn, the scenery was creative, and you managed to scene the whole thing consistently (which says something), it just needed a theme, a purpose, something memorable.
Here, let's use my scenery track criteria.
---------
Ambitious? - Meh
Epic factor/Impressive? - Meh
Complete/Cohesive? - Not really
Plan/Vision? - Not at all
Creates an Experience? - not really
Quality of art? - rocket was good
Creativity in scening things? - I would say so
Speed manipulations (think DNA)? - none
Level of Detail? - some spots were very detailed, others were bare
Consistency? - not really
Unified Theme? - nope
Originality? - not really
Speed/speed variation? - good
Monument placement? - terrible - you could barely see the rocket and it flew by in a fraction of a second
Monument usage in track? - none...
3-D (extrusion, adding shine, shading, contour lines, adding depth)? - a little shading, but not much 3-D technique
Made sense (no riding inside objects)? - good
"Hiding" the track? (this is bad) - none (good)
Good Ending? - not really
If you want me to elaborate on any of these, please say so and I will I hope this helps you see what to aim for.
Re: Manuals For Fun 4 - RAPTO
Should of called it scenery for fun, but meh
To start, IM SO GLAD YOU CHANGED THE ROCKET Its ten times better. Thanks for listening to my arguements
And other than that, those little things with the lines in them, throughout the end, are good and hasnt been done before, i dont think.
...but, what everyone else said. It was also a bit 'random' at the start for my liking aswell. If it had 5 more monements like the rocket, this would be a good track. And also, i dont really car about white space as long as rocks, etc are fully shaded, so shade the rocks in CS.
One more thing, i was a bit dissapointed you used TL's plant, same as the first rocket really, its copied and itdidnt really fit. But, other than that, twas an alright track. You have potential.

Nice job with this Rapto!
For some reason this track reminded me of monumental, don't know why though...
Things I liked:
-I like the style of scenery, and that it was similar but changed throughout the track.
-The rocket was very cool.
-Great song choice! Maybe it's because I love Sub Focus but I thought it went well with the mood of the track.
Things I didn't like:
-It was zoomed out a little too much. =/ I know you wanted the rocket and everything to be shown, but I think it would have been more enjoyable if it was zoomed in more.
-The rocket seemed out of place. It's a great drawing but I'm just saying. (Maybe you didn't care and just drew what you wanted )
-It seemed a little bare in some places. JUST a little. Pretty close though.
Anyways, great job.

And now, it's time for me!
So ya, I've been looking out for this video a long time and I love it. Great job. It's like my style, but less dense. Also, I wow'd at 1:03

could think of "MFF4: s.f.f" :/Smit5y wrote:Should of called it scenery for fun, but meh
My part had a double extension at the beginning but not a wierd combination between smooth and rough.
Re: Manuals For Fun 4 - RAPTO
Some parts had lots/some things going on and details and such which made the other parts seem so bare.
No.

Isn't that what everybody does these days?
No.

I was in it.
I'm quite pleased.
Has a minimal, classic style, and enjoyable.

Re: Manuals For Fun 4 - RAPTO
It was not anything like that, i can say. I did this track to try out larger projects (look at turbo boost and compare), and i didnt make it to impress. I dont know how you got that thoughtCamQuartr wrote:There were pros and cons
the pros were that there wasn't a single messy spot, which, is a major plus. I also liked that the music FIT (this is different then it sync'd)
cons were that it was pretty bare, i mean the track lines were filled in, but thats it. LOOOTS of white. It also seamed, a bit repetitive, idk i felt like i was watching the same scenery over and over again (I watched it 4 times). But the major con was that it looked like you didn't have fun with it. It really seamed like you wanted to impress the LR community and perfect every single line. Which i mean, perfection is a good thing, but impressing people TO GET NOTICED is actually a pretty slutty () thing to do, you should do these things for yourself, and not so much for other people.
i c potential though
i did this bump because i dont want to make people think that i only did this track to impress
