CONTACT FROM TECH DAWG

Hey guys,

after many emails, phone calls, messages and spamming Eliah i finally got a response from TechDawg. i hope he doesn't mind me posting this up here-

I apologize for my apparent apathetic attitude towards your persistent
requests. It is not, however, the way I would like you to think of it.
When my Google Mail was hacked, the hacker did more damage than I really
care to admit to anyone, let alone to myself. The entire database, at
the
core hosts level was deleted, My linerider.com account was hacked, my
hosting account passwords where changed, my file hosting premium accounts
were changed (rapidshare, etc).. anything and anywhere I had an account
with, including paypal, ebay, etc. all were violated.

I was able to get a core dump of the database as it was before being
deleted, but as it turns out, it is not so easy to just 'restore' it,
being
90MB and the lartest importable file restriction stops at 2MB. On top of
all that, I have been without an income, basically, since March. We have
several real life stressors, not the least of which is the very real
possibility we could loose our house.

Having said all of that, it is my intention, to at a very minimum,
rebuild
IRtL, and at the best, restore much of what had been lost. These last
several months, I have been too pained to pour my soul into it again, and
devote the effort and energy what I propose would require. However, I
have
started the process.

This is really all the information I can give you, but you deserved a
response, even if it was not the most encouraging or uplifting one.

anybody who can be trusted and knows a lot about website things EMAIL ME-

i want to make up a little donation pot for TD >_<
to help towards the site. we were already going to start paying for a new forum and stuff, so why not put it to good use.

WOW, so he's making IRTL again? Also, it's the most unlucky thing that he got all his paypal and stuff hacked, why?? Its so unfair to him! Bit coincidential that yesterday BHCS was asking for IRTL to be back or he may quit, and now it might be, lol. Great that it might come back!

I don't think making a donation to him will help get the site back. He obviously has more important stuff to deal with.

If he's almost losing his house I don't think it will help him much even if we all send like 5-10 dollars. This is probably about a lot more money.

TD has over 10,000 subs
if 100 of them would give a lil bit thats $1,000 for TD
covers the site and a bit of food >_<

We need his PayPal account to send it to, though

its just his paypal one.
he got it fixed though, its still working and not hacked.

I know alot about the site...

Sucks for him.

I didn't know the hacker(s) messed with that much of his stuff; I can see why he has been busy...I wonder what happened with his work at InXile, I guess that fell through?

Let him get a job, and stop bugging him about IRtL(well, you didn't know about his financial situation before, but for future notice). It's fine here. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to accept donations, considering it's rl and TD is an adult/a genitalman(icwatididthere)gentleman who wouldn't just take money from 15 year olds, even if it's donation. Just hope the economy gets better. ^_^;

I meant that he is in to much trouble to fix IRTL at this point. It's not important enough. If he has the time then I'd gladly donate some money to get/keep the site running, but I don't think we'd all need to pay a lot for that. It's more about TD not having time for this and we not having enough money to buy him a new home so that he has less worries thus more time

that is why i am asking for anybody who knows about vbulliten sites and websites IN GENERAL to send them self forward. so that TD doesn't need to worry about all of it. we can have others working to fix it.

Aren't we getting our own vB anyways? I would have liked the old IRTL back a couple months ago, but if it got back up now it just wouldn't be the same and as active; nor TD's trouble.

im agreeing with whoever sed tht we shud let him sort out his real life problems first and on his own. if he really needed financial support he shud get professional support. this may even mean he will have to declare bankruptcy or w/e u call it which is bad... although techdawg has technical skills but if he cant find anything local he may have to move anyway which is better than a foreclosure on the house, cuz now the bank has it. im not sure about house pricing right now, whether its good or bad right now, but if the case is a different house he has even more work to do ontop of what he has to do already. although he never mentioned anything about moving, u can kinda read between the text and see that as a viable option. my point is he has alot of stuff on his plate and needs to work through them himself at his own, hopefully quick, pace.

however, i feel as though we shud hold off on creating the new vb. wasting money is not a good thing in this situation. It may be a sign of courtesy, but Td may no different coding for the original site that we may miss in the new version. Also coke, i personally consider irtl a heart of line rider. right now line rider is relishing off of a fake heart. we can't rebuild a heart perfectly, because it still isnt a heart. it may seem like a bit of a hassle for TD but its the fact of how iconic the site is. Apart from that td built irtl with his barehands really. its a pride thing. rabid may have saved him by making this, but its tsill not the same without the real site. one more thing to add on, td will not (imo) be beat by a hacker. hes too good for tht. back to pride, he needs to do this and he needs to get back up himself. no offense to rabid but irtl is tds and rabid in a sense is nourishing it while td is down. as td climbs back up he will take responsibility again. if rabid were to make the vb its like td has nothing to come back to pride-wise. its much better to retire on your own terms than have something else knock u down.

now this is for bhcs. my suggestion is u shud ease up on trying to make contact with td. great, weve found him and hes not in the best of a state but hes ok. things can go up and things can go down. now this whole problem started with email... more email in a sense is getting in the way. of course checking up on him wud be very nice, but u shud limit urself and give td tht extra week to respond now. I mean as a friend u are, u shud no wen to give people space. itll relieve some stress on his part to know that he doesnt have to respond to u right away. u shud also tell him this. let him no u are there, but by being there u r going to give him his space he needs.
