Re: Round #2 - Poll #3
Very curious to see if Driftwood makes it through this poll. This is a tough poll and it was ranked right on the edge of whether it will make it to round 3.
Anyway, this is what I said about these tracks last round:
Evolution of Line Rider - has something to say and says it loud and clear. √
Party's Over - still dig the flow but doesn't quite do it for me this round. X
Astir - Still like the aesthetic, but doesn't quite do it for me this round. X
Roborant - Still feels thrown together but I found myself really enjoying the movement of Bosh this time around and the effortless feel to the whole thing, which I don't know if I've seen in another XY... so GMV even though it didn't last round. I'm a fickle guy apparently. Maybe it's just after watching inhibitions and mount olxympus and comparing this track to those. √
Eden 2 - FUCK YEAH. What a track. Doesn't get old. There are some weak spots but so many other beautiful, emotionally powerful moments more than make up for them. √
Blitzed - Found myself enjoying this one a lot more in this round. Love the syncing on a macro level. √
Nightmare - I wish there had been more of the green line fling quirk, that stuff was easily the highlight of the track for me. X
Manual Mayhem Supernatural - still enjoying those great creative moments scattered throughout as well as the massive amount of work put into this √
NODA - This track manages to be quite emotionally powerful for being quite crappy in terms of technical tricks. GMV for this round. √
The Painting - I don't know if I would agree with my past self that this had awesome execution, actually. He could have made a track specifically for this purpose to make bosh look like he was flying around, instead of taking a manuquirk in a box and scening over it. Some of the spots where he rides on the inside of the edge break the immersion a bit. But GMV this round for the brilliant concept. √
Silent Flame Scened - Still cool but doesn't do it for me this round. Too disjointed. X
Dystopia - Was a bit more impressed by this this round just in terms of the work put in, and there are some creative ways that track bits were scened, but it's still pretty disjointed. X
Anyway, this is what I said about these tracks last round:
- Spoiler:
- Evolution of Line Rider
Party's OverI've always been proud of how well this expresses what bare trackmaking in Line Rider is about, and what we as a community do, to the masses. Not all of it is perfect and it's a bit outdated now, but I'm so proud of its existence as a track that has something to say and says it loud and clear to anyone outside our community: This is what we do, and we're proud of it
AstirI think the flow for me just clicks in this track, though it loses some steam towards the end. And of course the music sync, whether it was an accident or planned.
RoborantI can't say the flow clicks for me in this track but I dig the aesthetic and how it makes the track unpredictable.
Eden 2I really like the X and Y integration and stuff... but it does feel a bit, well... thrown together. Like it's just messing around instead of expressing something. I like the monument but I don't know if there is any reason for it being what it is or if it's just random.
BlitzedNot all of it works IMO (the start, and then the section with the chorus of kids) but other bits... they don't just work, they're like, POWERFUL. Emotionally. For a non-quirker. That's a feat. And then the ending is incredible, not just because it works with the song, but because it reminds everyone that Bosh can actually fall off the sled.
NightmareSorts feels monotonous at times and the song doesn't always sync, but it matches it overall in style, and there are a few parts that sync and I enjoy them.
Manual Mayhem SupernaturalA fast and fun fling quirk, with some really cool moments. I really wished there was a bigger push for conceptual creativity from those moments, but most of it feels pretty generic (though it does consistently maintain the push of effort).
No One Dreams AnywayOverall, yes, it's disjointed. But there are some top notch creative moments in scenery scattered throughout the track. I personally still really enjoy this.
The PaintingI love the music syncing in this track. It might not be precise like Jam but it's incredible on a macro scale.
Silent Flame ScenedAwesome concept, awesome execution. The huge reveal at the end is gold.
DystopiaThis is the first CSP since dacite that I thought turned out really well. When these do turn out well it's mostly a fluke, and there were definitely parts that were weak (and a couple that were just awful and distracting) but overall I enjoy seeing the variety of scenery styles in this one a lot.just feels really random and haphazard to me. And not in an experimental way but in a draw-whatever way.

Re: Round #2 - Poll #3
Dystopia, Silent Flame Scened, No One Dreams Anyway, and Nightmare are eliminated. Driftwood and The Painting enter into a tiebreaker poll.
