How fast is Bosh actually going?
2021 EDIT: since people keep referencing this I'm going to edit in an update here. It turns out OTDE's 3ft height was a guess, not something determined based on assuming Earth's gravity. instead of 6 pixels = 1 foot, it seems like it's actually about 8.7 pixels = 1 foot (thanks to jealouscloud and Arglin for calculating this). So all speeds and sizes are actually about 30% slower than what I said in this thread. The conversion factor between mph and ppf isn't 4.55, but 3.135
As OTDE discovered, Bosh is 3 feet tall (that's the size at which gravity makes sense) and thus the sled is 3 feet long.
What Chuggers and I realized today, is that this means we can calculate the size of tracks, and the speed of Bosh!
Since the sled is 18 px long, it can be determined that 6 px = 1 foot. therefore, 60 ppf is 10 feet per frame. Since there are 40 frames in a second, that means 60 ppf is equivalent to 10 x 40 = 400 feet per second.
Using this http://www.calculateme.com/Speed/FeetperSecond/ToMilesperHour.htm
We can determine that 400 feet per second is ~273 miles per hour (holy shit!)
That means that 60 ppf = 273 mph. 273 / 60 = 4.55, soooo....
To convert PPF to mph, multiply by 4.55
To convert mph to PPF, divide by 4.55
Here's some fun speeds for reference
- The fastest a human has ever run is 27 mph. This is ~6 ppf in Line Rider.
- The fastest land animal is a Cheetah, which runs up to 70 mph. This is ~15 ppf in Line Rider.
- The fastest car of all time is 270 mph. This is ~60 ppf in Line Rider.
- A typical jet plane travels 550 mph. This is ~121 ppf in Line Rider.
- The speed of sound is about 761 mph. This is ~167 ppf in Line Rider. (so supersonic motion is technically achieved at over 167 ppf)
- The fastest fighter jets can reach 2200 mph. This is ~480 ppf in Line Rider. (passed by Funspiration by SCG)
- The fastest manned plane of all time (which went a little into space) went 4519 mph. This is ~993 ppf in Line Rider. (faster than the fastest published speed in Line Rider, VIBErate)
- The fastest rocket sled went 6,450 mph. This is ~1,418 ppf in Line Rider.
- Escape velocity from the Earth (the speed required to get away from Earth's gravity into space) is 25,100 mph. This is ~5500 ppf in Line Rider.
- The fastest spacecraft reached 36,360 mph. This is ~7991 ppf in Line Rider.
- The speed of the solar system is 450,000 mph. This is ~100,000 ppf in Line Rider.
- The typical speed of an electron in a cathode ray tube is 30,000,000 mph. This is ~15,000,000 ppf in Line Rider.
- The speed of light is 299,792,458 mph. This is ~147,388,270 ppf in Line Rider.

Follow up - sizes!
- The structure I made in driftwood is 570 feet long and 120 feet tall (about a 13-story building)
- The statue of liberty in silent flame is 500 feet tall (2.3 x larger that the actual statue) so, like, this tall
- The wall in Bolted to the wall is 800 feet tall. A bit taller than the height of The Wall in Game of Thrones. About 60 stories.
- The caves in Archaeology are 6,000 feet deep at the lowest point Bosh reaches, about 1.1 miles beneath the surface. (He breaks the speed of sound on his way up at about 819 mph)
- The War of the Worlds Tripod in End of the World is 130 feet tall (about 14 stories)
- The MMX DNA ribbons are6.5 miles [EDIT: .65 miles, 3000 feet, sorry] long
That's all I got in the way of scenery .sols

Re: How fast is Bosh actually going?
are you absolutely sure about that one, i watched it through and he only goes down slope for about 20 seconds, also im not sure how much that curve deterred his velocity, but he didn't go up into the air that far or fastrabid squirrel wrote:

i could see like 2-3 miles at the most but thats just guesstimating
like remember how the grand canyon would be like 300,000 pixels long and need 150 longest-length lines to be full size and thats around 10 miles, the dna would need ~95 longest length lines to be 6 miles

Whoops, you're right. I misplaced a decimal. .65 miles, aka ~3000 feet. Not 6.5.
It's like the length of the sydney harbor bridge
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Harbour_Bridge#/media/File:Sydney_Harbour_Bridge_from_Circular_Quay.jpg
also here is the wall in game of thrones that the bolted to the wall wall is taller than:

Re: How fast is Bosh actually going?
Using the metric system is easier in this case. 1ppf = 2m/s
A usual shoulder stack speeds Bosh up to 15ppf in about 6 frames. That gives an acceleration of 200m/s^2

From what I see with this info, it may be possible to calculate how many g's of force that is being put on Bosh in some of these tracks.
@powell, that's nothing. Dap, achieved speeding bosh up from about 2ppf to about 100 ppf in 2 frames I believe in a cramual cannon.

Re: How fast is Bosh actually going?
ive changed boshes speed from 180 downwards to 90 upwards in two frames, and i think i can so more downwards. I think kramual cannons have a much lower accerleration tolerance than decelaration
Re: How fast is Bosh actually going?
^Yeah there's a lot of pretty absurd directional changes possible. I'm curious the fastest speed a manned sled has ever achieved.
This is really awesome stuff!

Re: How fast is Bosh actually going?
Ooh we can calculate the force of a kramual cannon! My high school physics background is coming in handy lol
First let's calculate the acceleration.
a = ∆V/t
∆V = 100 ppf = 455 mph
455 mph = 200 m/s
a = 200 / .025s = 8000 m/s(2)
g = 9.8 m/s² , 8000/9.8 = 816 gs
DAMN. When Bosh does a kramual cannon, he goes from 0 to 455 mph in 0.025 seconds and that puts him at 816 Gs.
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090505133859AAI8tqD
According to this, the max instantaneous Gs a human in the real world can survive is about 40, and the record for survival is 179. Bosh is doing 816 and still living to tell the tale!
Okay, let's calculate the force. If we say Bosh is a shortish 6 year old he's probably about 40 pounds, or 18 kg, and he's accelerating at 8000 m/s(2). This makes his force about 144000 N.
That's about the force of a car traveling at 50 mph and crashing into a wall.
First let's calculate the acceleration.
a = ∆V/t
∆V = 100 ppf = 455 mph
455 mph = 200 m/s

that turn has a radius of about 20 feet, or 6 meters
his speed is 25 ppf, or 113 mph, or 50 m/s
(50)(50) / 6 = 416 m/s(2) = 42 Gs. DAMN. He would be so dead.

speeaking of unrealistic, that dancing stick figure is going faster than bosh and bosh is going 741 mph there. hmm guess I have to re think life now.

Re: How fast is Bosh actually going?
Just measured the height of funspiration. from the animated stickman to the spot where he peaks shortly thereafter is 170,000 pixels, or 28,000 feet, or 5.3 miles. Covered between 3:28 and 3:45, or 17 seconds.
Mt Everest is 5.4 miles high. Bosh basically scales Mt. Everest in under 20 seconds.

Hate to be pernickity, but...
You want 670,616,629 miles per hour
These values are interesting. Although, given Bosh lives in a frictionless world, it's maybe not surprising. I might do a few experiments myself
an electron can have any speed up to the speed of light, and, the speed of light you've given there in metres per second.rabid squirrel wrote:- The speed of an electron is 30,000,000 mph. This is ~6,500,000 ppf in Line Rider.

WHAT THE HELL WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?!
And Rabid, escape velocity isn't achieved within the first five miles of leaving the atmosphere...so I'm not talking about the fastest we've ever sent a rocket, I'm talking about the fastest initial acceleration
