That is beautiful. I really liked all of the rolls. And that little hang time he gets at 2:33 is nice too. Kinda mesmerizing, like Intro.

This is nuts, man. Like, really, really nuts. You're taking a lot of sync concepts like airtime and rotation and you're using them more effectively than anyone else has so far in Line Rider. This is basically what I wanted to do with hymn but never had the skill to do. Beautiful track, and I hope you keep making this stuff, because you're exploring a brave new world and I'm more than happy to tag along. Smile

Did I mention how much I love this track? It was such a good first watch. God, stop me before I keep ranting about how much I love it. SO GOOD RYDER AAAAAAA

Edit: OH MY GOD 2:17 IS A GREEN MANUAL YOU MAGNIFICIENT BASTARD

Oh my goodness! This track is so good and fun to watch, it's actually a huge inspiration for me on my current track. I loved the smoothness at 0:44! Great job. Smile

That was lovely. Not much to say this time, just keep doing your thang and you'll get better and better. I liked how you varied in which instrument you synced to, you should definitely keep playing around with that.

When I saw the green tailie the first time my thought was "damn why this unsmooth manual". Probably not the effect you were going for :P  IMO it didn't add to the track. The highlight was definitely the rolling from 1:11-1:13, that fit so well! It really works when you match lyrics to rotation.

i wish there were more syncs  beyond tricks, airtime, tricks, airtime, tricks, airtime
in fact its like 50% airtime, and in a lot of that airtime were spots that were major beats/rhythms in the song that would have been neat to have been synced to

it also lost heaps of steam near the end

but, the syncs that were there were really well done

good luck in contest

I would like to note that airtime itself can be considered a trick. Especially no rotation airtime, which gave a few very nice moments in my opinion. Like silence in music, the absence of lines can be used to create fun and interesting moments in a Line Rider track.

Some of the most beautiful work with rotation I've ever seen... ever. Ryder, you've truly mastered a concept that's all too often overlooked in quirk, and I have to give you huge props on it. Incredible track, a testament to the power of simplicity in modern quirk.

airtime is a trick, but its an overused trick when its half of the track.  this track suffers from the same major gripe people had over Jam, it had syncs that were repetitive and predictable, and the same thing every time

maybe instead of airtime every time, you could have used a long x line where he sits in 0 rotation, or maybe you could have used something for a quick direction change along to a beat.  the track looks really pieced together especially towards the end, when theres a second of track, then 3 seconds of airtime, it makes it hard to review even because of the lack of track

im not even sure if i would call this a manuquirk, maybe its a manuquairck

/2 month late review

I really like this track. Mostly because it is something different. I love how this evolved from the realization in Intro that highspeed does not necessarily mean intense - which IMO is a pretty novel concept for all of us. It's not exactly a song that you would think would fit with a highspeed track, but it really does work.

0:14-0:28
Watching this again, I wish you had realized it was going to be a highspeed track from the get-go instead of starting out midspeed and then getting faster and faster. But, the precise sync is top-notch in this section. I love 0:24-0:27 in particular, the airtime close to the line.

0:28-0:30
At 0:28 the song feels like there should be a dramatic speed change or at least a dramatic style shift, and I didn't really see it. After not much changes at 0:28, the roll at 0:30 seems abrupt, especially since the track up until this point has been precisely synced. I know you were like "damn gotta slow him down" but I would have slowed him down in some sort of smooth way at 0:27 with the cymbal.

0:31-0:54
However, what comes after it is great "buy and sell gravity" with the chain and then pass-thru at the snare is perfect, and then "I knew how to fly" is just STELLAR. Love it. "I would teach you for a fee" I wish you had kept him on a line of some kind on "fee" because you already used the airtime bit so well with "knew how to fly" and using it again devalues it a bit IMO. Love the integration rotation-reversal on "hotel heart", matches so well. The next phrase I can see you didn't quite know what to do, I wished that there wouldn't have been a big shoulder launch before "start", it didn't match well here (should have kept him on a line for the word "start") and IMO the shoulder cannon should have been saved for the chorus at 1:09.

0:55-1:09
0:57 is just to die for, it's so beautiful, it's like a smooth jump at 15ppf except it's actually super highspeed. and it fits so well with the music. But then "blowing my mind" there's just airtime - this could have made the part before it look even better if there was something here. "Son you got an angel" is a bit odd, the pinch doesn't quite work IMO and we have way too much speed for our own good haha. The roll fits but at 1:06 there's another spot where there is just airtime and feels like there should be something more. And then the kramual was probably the most baffling place to put a kramual IMO, like, what...? was that...? why...?

1:09-1:22
Here is where the big arrival of the song is, so it's disappointing that you've basically run out of tricks up your sleeve. You used up everything too early! Sad The integration was a good effort at making that less evident, haha, and "grandfather was a" integration was good, but then you do the unnecessary airtime thing again on the word "preacher" which is the title of the track! Stop doing that! And then you used the no-rotation trick again where it wasn't as effective. If I don't look at the sync these frame-based thingies are super cool though, and some of them are still good with the sync. I wished you had done something with those huge snare hits, but  "talk about god" looked good, and so did "something like a" though "he was" sync was a little off and "teacher" again with the airtime.

1:23-1:37
1:23-1:27 is really great, I love the sync here. The rotation, the little bits of airtime, and the chains work super well, but then "themselves" needed to be held longer to match the music and it ended too soon Sad And then you had done too much tumbling and he slowed down too much (A fling for "themselves" would have solved that) and this part looks good but the slowdown at 1:31 looks all sorts of wrong, haha. And then the huge airtime at 1:33 is totally weird and really makes it clear that you ran out of steam and just wanted to be done with it.

Overall, I love this conceptually - highspeed quirk synced with an emotional downtempo song - and there are some incredibly strong moments in this track, but it doesn't hold up to multiple watches because there are a lot of things in it that are just... sloppy/lazy in execution.

My main point of advice for future tracks like this (and you better make more damn it) is: Keep things up your sleeve for those big moments. Don't blow everything in the first 30 seconds. I know then the issue is that some parts will feel like filler, but that's better than the second half of the track feeling like filler :P

But above all, come back and make stuff please! I know you can take this concept and make something really kickass that will blow everyone's mind and I WANT TO SEE IT.
