Rather than go into the various and sometimes a little complicated tricks of the trade we have to record our tracks, I'll simply direct you to this wonderful video that helped me when I was starting...

In a basic answer. Record at 30fps while the track is playing at 5fps(or lower on big scenery tracks) then speed up the track in a video editor to the normal time.

Re: hypercam 2
That link I posted is how. There is no other way unless you have the most powerful computer in the world that can play the track perfectly while recording.Danthetubaman wrote:I mean how do I record smoothly with a bare track
What happens is you slow it down so you get no frame skips. Then you record it so Hypercam will capture all the necessary frames, then when it is finished recording, if you did everything correctly, the video will automatically be sped up to the correct speed. Just follow the instructions in the video I posted and you'll do fine.
Also, you can ask someone else to do it for you. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm always up for doing recordings for people. Just PM me the .sol of your track, then I'll send you a video of it to you within a day, usually only a few hours.

Most basic, but well known/used settings to get a smooth recording:
Put 5 for the first box (rate of frames per second), and 40 for the second box (Playback) Then record while lr is in slomo.
the other two or three boxes under those dont really affect the recording for lr.
also, use auto select for the compressor option

It's still the exact same thing though, just depends on if you use cheats to slow it or M key. I never record at 2fps anyways, I always do it at 10 (or even 20 now with my new computer). The final point is, you need to slow it down, no way around it.Kramwood wrote:Shotoku wrote:Did you even watch that video I posted for you?Danthetubaman wrote:I didn't think of using slow mo.
Ive personally never used that method. Ive always used the method boo mentioned.

Yeah, the way aspi does it, though, you need to download 2 more completely unnecessary programs to do so. Rather silly when we could do everything in hypercam itself. Plus, Aspi's way did some really weird stuff with my recording. It ended up having huge seconds where the track would completely pause, and then skip ahead again, and I just don't know what went wrong.

This is the average settings for most tracks, but not always entirely accurate. You might need to make a few adjustments to make up for lag. Some of my recordings I've done in the past I noticed ended up being 10 seconds slower than real-time so you should also take note these aren't always the best numbers for accurate recordings. Aspi actually made a helpful tutorial for how to get the best results so you could also give that a peek
Edit: Welp Shotoku seems on top of things.

Guys, you're making this way too complicated. Get fraps, use FP11, records like butter if your machine can hold 40 fps. No slowing down needed.
