Abstract Rain - Rain Of Life
SO! Here's our first fully scened track by Rain Of Life. It was made for a clan battle against thornclan.
I personally am very proud of us, managing to make this track and scene it so quickly ^^

I actually liked all of it except for the end monument. It didn't look as smooth as the rest of the scenery. All around great track though.

at the intro i was like "holy [I am a potty mouth] thats many members... owait its just our own names recycled"
scenery was much better than i imagined, cant wait for the manual project to be finished ^^

Reason: It's an XY, no curves involved
Flow: 8/10
Reason: I thought the flow was really good! I've seen some nice stop'n go stuff and I haven't really seen (m)any flow killers. There also weren't any parts that were much worse than the rest. Good job on that
Trick alternation: 9/10
Reason: The tricks you used were very varied. I also liked that there were some speed changes, good job!
Fitting pressure of manuals/flatsledding: /10
Reason: You can't pressure anything in XY.
Smoothness: 8/10
Reason: Overall I thought it was very smooth. The music added a lot into that too. But you had some nice airtimes and stuff. Nice job
Originality: 10/15
Reason: The scenery was original, but this is about the track. The track wasn't very different from other XY's I've seen. It had some cool moments, but there wasn't really much of which I thought it was very original. The thingy on 1:55-1:56 was cool though ^^
Execution of other tricks: 11/15
Reason: Overall I thought you executed everything very well. There were some flaws in it, but overall it was good.
Entertainment: 20/25
Reason: I enjoyed it a lot, good job.
Total: 64/85 = 75/100

Great job guys!
Both the track and scenery were fantastic. They felt very equal to each other. I can't wait to see the Thorn clan's track.
Also, 1:10-1:30 reminded me of my track (WTMS).

Good stuff guys. Loved how the downward part was scened. I kind of wished that the track could have been scened to be shown off rather than covered, and have yet to see something like that in a scened XY.
Can't wait to see how we do against this.

That was pretty intense o.o
The track and scenery both pwned. I loved the city part, reminded me a lot of bubbles. Great job Rain Of Life!

That was really good!
I loved the track, but I didn't really like the scenery. Some parts was REALLY cool, but some weren't.
Overall, it was pretty enjoyable

Oh lawd missed this track.. lol Constructive criticism for jhoo:
Scenery: You guys used some very cool and original stuff, but the whole "abstract arrows" thing has been used many times before; that was a large portion of your scenery. Another thing is that you guys seem to use scenery to cover the track. Scenery, in my opinion (you may have a different one), is meant to enhance the track, not to shad black ever line and call it scenery; not saying you guys shaded everything black, just sometimes it was... thick and just placed on top of the track instead of utilizing the track. Otherwise then those issues you guys had some original stuff; very cool and modern/abstract. I just wished it had been used WITH the track instead of OVER the track.
EDIT: Oh and I didn't even think that was a monument at 1st because it was just like the rest of the scenery to me

Huge props for that it looks awesome and just felt like Bosh was getting sucked to the left I would also have to say that the big drop... I aint diggin' the drop bro. It seems like every XY track nowadays is like this: "Compact XY, BIG DROP TUMBLE THING, Compact XY, Stall." That's exactly what this was, and also is exactly what Nocturnal and High Pitch were. Nocturnal being the original to have the idea. The drop just made me go :\ But still a great track.
I don't know if we have a chance at this since you guys have scenery and we don't. Hopefully people will judge not only by what covers the track but what the track is too. Good luck ROL

Also, btw, the track was awesome. I cant really judge the scenery because i dont know what its supposed to look like, but it was very cool. My abstract sucks compared to yours (and in general). Good stuff.

I promised a review, no?
It took me a while to stop being annoyed by the slightly off splits and start looking at the track. I personally would have gone through and lined up each frame in the video - they were only like 1 frame off most of the time. I did that for the lukking/fc comparison in the december COTM that took me about 2 hours though, and it was only about 4 seconds of footage lol. still. it bugged me. and the one fading split part as well, but not as much. Also, a zoom-out would have been appropriate at the ending monument.
I absolutely loved the artistry, especially the ending monument. I'm very happy to see a clan put out a high quality scenery track My main criticism would be that that scenery related only loosely to the track and at times didn't make sense at all. But still, loved the art. It was so fun and cool and original and diverse.
On to my criteria!
Ambitious? Yes, I would say so
Epic factor/Impressive? Somewhat
Complete/Cohesive? Yes. rather abstract, and varied, but it was all in a similar style
Vision? A little. could have used more.
Experience? the split iffyness took me out of it but if I ignored that it definitely created an experience.
Quality of art? mostly high quality. bit random at times
Creativity in scening things? definitely. loved it.
Speed manipulations? not really. a little in that faster part
Detail? definitely
Consistency? yep
Unified Theme? yeah
Originality? a little. ending monument is very original. most of it was pretty good, some was a little recycled (e.g. thickened lines)
Speed? some variation but was a little too slow overall. especially when so zoomed out.
Monument placement? could have used some great monuments in slower sections
Monument usage? not really any except the end one (which was great)
3-D (extrusion, adding shine, shading, contour lines, adding depth)? a little. could have used a lot more.
Made sense? biggest problem with the track in my eyes. it very rarely made sense with what the guy was doing. It seemed like you drew stuff around the lines but didn't focus on the path of the guy at all.
"Hiding" the track? (this is bad) yeah, some of this too.
Good Ending? yes (but zooming out would be better)
So, overall, great scenery, work on designing the track for the scenery as well as vice-versa, and work on making the scenery make more sense with the movements of the guy instead of the lines of the track, but the creativity was awesome and I hope to see more scenery from you guys!
