Hmm. I would go with a large SB so we could have large posts. The settings about the layout of the SB based on your own preferences could be saved to your account, thus saving everyone the trouble of actually bickering over what it should look like, and the only fixed thing would be the look (a.k.a colors, smileys, etc) and we could rearrange and change it however we'd like. /lurk setting. Ossum. Just hiding while watching people in the SB is a main concern so NO ONE WILL TALK TO YOU IF YOU'RE BUSY.
What would be the opposite of lurk? Enter imo, so:

/ignore Please. (/all, /user)

Rearrange/ change size of SB and stuff.

Make sure it's an SB that you can use on the site and minimize whenever you want, make sure it's a fixed pos., make sure it has a pop out option.

Archive everything.

That's all I have for suggestions. I had all the suggestions I could, because I don't have a Facebook, and really don't want to anyways.

mgc_chatbox.php?mode=archive (yes, I know the phpBB url scheme. 'mode=' is phpBB's version of vB's 'do=' query string.)

The poke request isn't really copying ELR, its copying Facebook since in mhenrs pic it has the facebook chat bar on it.

y u gotta make me move bro? this site works fine we get nothing transferring to a different site appart from being forced to do our own maitnance (usually means more downtime) and margainly more control.

^there was some downtime fairly recently but that was schedualed maitnance.

but considder this, how often the old site went down. ALOT! that's how often. in fact I'm fairly sure the reason we're in this mess is BECAUSE the old site went down.

Im pretty sure the reason the old site kept going down was due to hackers and TD buying the gayest hosting on the planet.

This site was originally made because TD got hacked. The only other time the site went down was when the horrible tiny 100MB database filled up. That's never going to happen again (right, Revo?).

Maybe we should write a cron job to do a full site dump (code and database) every week and put it in a spot on the server where it can be accessed by FTP only, and then Rev and the admins can download that dump every so often so that we have backups of the site spread around.

I'm not going to see the same s*** all over again. I don't think any of us want to.

On the sb porting side of things, I'm progressing well, but while I've been coding in the db additions, I realised that I should add something: Shoutbox nicknames. Mods could use it to give people with massive names (like snooze had) a shorter name (most people get nicknames anyway from the community, so that would be easy) so that the margins aren't destroyed when theyre in the sb, and it makes for a cool little privilege for ranks to be able to set their own <=10char sb name.

Well since I have the final say on the domain (I own it atm and I'm donating it to rabid to be used with the new site once it's 100% completed), I have the final call on when the site can open.

We're still waiting on the style to be finished for the non-frontpage stuff (plus some tweaks here and there), and I think I'll have the SB done in around 5 days from now (the 27th, it's the 21st here as I write this post), although with these kinds of things you can never be sure as things tend to pop up and slow you down.

I think we'll be moving over to the new site (registering, getting all ranks redone as the people in them register, all that stuff) in the last 2-3 days of january/first few days of february. That's just a guess, but I want to see it be true. My school load wont really kick in until mid feb, so I'll put all the work I can into the sb, as well as a few mods here and there to recreate what we had at old IRtL.

I'm also having the initial thoughts in my head about a mod that will let topic authors name others who are allowed to edit the first post of that topic, so that clan threads can be mini wikis for those involved in that clan. Dunno if that'd be worth it though, and I'd need to run it by the team.
