... Yeah, it's definitely hard, which is why I wanted you guys to use MyBB -- you only need to write ONE XML and include all your images, since the skin system is very similar to vBulletin's.

Actually it's only around 30-40 template files. The only actual hard part is the images.

... Yeah, it's definitely hard, which is why I wanted you guys to use MyBB -- you only need to write ONE XML and include all your images, since the skin system is very similar to vBulletin's.

Trying to skin with an xml file is just stupid, the only reason the skins are imported/exported as xml's is so that you don't have to import/export hundred of templates/css files.

It is easier to just use the templates, but I do agree with Eibwen, the damn phpBB has way to many files, I could say the same for IPB but IPB is a really simple thing to skin, same for xenForo, you can just use dreamweaver cs5's new ftp feature and skin it via dreamweaver and every time you save a file it will be uploaded. Which is what I will be doing with xF and IPB in the near future.

The fictitious number was an exaggeration, but that's still quite a few and you still have to deal with Smarty's lame macros.

Actually even with the built in FTP client you'd still have to purge the cache EVERY single time you make an edit to a file or image. I believe there is a way around that but I'm not quite sure.

I know. But you don't have to change EVERY single file. if you keep the names of the images the same you take out about 10 of those files that actually have to edit. And you won't have to change the entire file completely. Just a few thing in each one.

lol I just meant to get them the same as IRtL's and it's kinda hard cuz there's more than 100 maybe even 200 images that you have to edit. I think it would be better overall if you just start with a new skin entirely. There's tons of 'em on the phpBB site. But I guess it's not my choice

No not really that many images that I had to cut from the psd etc to get them. Mhenr posted all the major ones and the forum layout psd so it will come out good.
