Threads with 2+ pages freezing tab

Rabid and I noticed last night that certain threads would freeze quickly after being opened, and we narrowed it down to being the twitch chat embed.  This only seems to freeze the page in threads with two or more pages, and is a recent occurrence, seeing that we only noticed it just last night.

If anyone is having the same problem, I would suggest that for now you hide the embedded chat with your desired ad blocker.

What could have caused this to happen suddenly?

It's also only an issue on Chrome so using literally any other browser works. I'm on safari rn

Firefox user, last few days have had this as well, it keeps making me stop the flash plugin or my browser crashes, even with just one tab.

yea it's the twitch chat that causes the problem:


See that RegEx line at the bottom? It's searching for text that has "twitch.tv" in it and somehow screws up and takes a really long time. It makes sense to report it to twitch.tv.

EDIT: What a weird bug.
The amount of time it takes for the RegEx to finish depends on the url of the current page. Here are some times:

The bug is that this RegEx is too inefficient:

This might just be me, but when I open a million tabs with middle click on this site, they all close as soon as I change the thread im currently on
