Re: NIGHTMARE
awesome track saw it all on stream haha, any coincidence in the fact your track has the same song as rafaels most recent video
Re: NIGHTMARE
That was beast! Everything was so fluent! This track reminds me so much of Chui Ninji, it's insane. I loved how many loops you added and the size of the lines made everything look so clean, I could see what what going on almost at all times. Groll at 0:57 was one of my favourite moments.
My first thought on why quirk is hard for you is that it's because everything you make is so clean. To get dirty moves, you need to make your lines dirty. Try playing around with that. I'm glad you didn't do it here though, because the song you picked asks for cleanliness and fluency. Great song choice Btw, why Nightmare? Just so you could use that clip?

So glad to finally see the final project after watching you stream for countless hours! The beat drop and when the track got real serious was so exciting! I love your style and nice kramual cannon

Re: NIGHTMARE
Honestly my first thought was how enjoyable the first section was. The fling quirk was starting to get repetitive until you elarned was airtime and speed variation were ;P
Then I thought "GREEN STUFF BLERGHERHGHE GO TEAM"
Then I was all "Cannon! "
Then I said "Summoning is truly one of a kind."
You have such clean quirk.
I loved this.
Also, boo strongly disagrees that to get dirty moves, you need to use dirty quirk.
I happen to strongly side with raf, who is a master of clean quirk. Boo, where do you get this idea th at clean quirk can be just as strong as dirty quirk

Just chance haha. I planned on using this song for a few weeks now, even tested it on stream a bunch. Side note: I watched Valence 1 & 2 a ton while making this.

I always did think chui's quirk looked cool, guess I subconsciously made my stuff look like his . And Boo was gonna use that clip at the beginning anyway and I didn't have a name for the track so I thought why not.

Yeah it was 3 years ago and Rafael (Jam) tied with Cereal (Explosivo), and iirc, Pure's Type R was 3rd and SCG's Blitzed was 4th, tempted to double check now EDIT: Splash was actually 4th with Serein >.<Dapianokid wrote:^WAS THERE A TOC 4 WAT

How. How is Summ so good at every single style.
I loved it! So dang clean. So much control and so much trick variety, and nothing feels out of place.

Lol (at both), I said "try playing around with that", not "make every line you'll ever fucking create dirtier than my room at this point for the rest of your life". No side to take really. The "quirk is hard for me" line made me think Sum wants to be able to create the crazy quirk other people create as well.efrazable wrote:lol'd a bit. Re: NIGHTMARE
Can I just also say that you exceeded my expectations as for possible ways cannons can be used in tracks? It's like the difference between slamming a kramual into a track and pullin' a georgio and defining the way that they should be used.
Very sophisticated, mature, and lovely choice of kramual usage. It just topped the whole thing off nicely for me. Everything you did was done in a way which was both stylish, technically impressive, and satisfying. You convincingly pulled off new tricks which composers normaly get told off for not using right.
It's easy to know when you use a trick wrong, but knowing when it's right to use one is an artistic quality I see you've mastered. Even insane power well loops took on a less "wtf why" feel in this track. The track felt less about the tricks themselves, and more about the effect they had on the track.
Also, you probably beat rofl for most finds of songs to sync to one particular track over the course of you streaming this. I remember when you were just excited about the first string chain loop in this track.
We need more quirkers for reviewing tracks and for making them.

Re: NIGHTMARE
This track is somewhat of a mystery. I read nothing remotely uncomplimentary in the comments, and yet, this happened:
https://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t10920-feature-nightmare-by-summoning
I'm curious where these "meh" opinions came crawling out of the woodwork from, as opposed to hybrid eclipse, which I could barely find any complimentary quotes but it did better in the polls and actually got featured. Maybe I can try to find them?
first of all, I feel kind of awkward bringing this up as it really should be a minor thing, but the opening clip from the eric andre show. Why was it there? What did it have to do with the track? I feel like this is important because 1) we can't pretend anymore that everything that is in your video is super important to what people make of your track, and 2) It makes this track pretty unlikely to get spread around. I'm just not quite seeing the intention of that opening, except maybe it was some sort of attempt to pull the votale-esque "this isn't actually serious" dealio when presenting this track to try to shield yourself from potential criticism? If so it looks like it worked? But do you not want criticism? Maybe I'm reading too far into this but tbh the most memorable part of the track was not actually the track, but the opening clip.
Okay, that aside, let's talk about the actual track.
0:22-0:44 was actually pretty cool stuff, but due to the music being a pretty clear buildup, the end result is it all just feels like filler that's trying too hard to stand out. I know this is because you picked the song after you were like a minute into the track, but I also know you picked the song because of how it synced around 0:45-1:00 ish, which meant you were essentially making everything in the slower opening section filler.
0:45-1:15 this is quite fun, and what it has going for it is the whole clean quirk + sustained flings + occasional superstacks. I'm really surprised nobody mentioned sheldon in this thread because I feel like this is basically valance / valence 2 material. Enjoyable, but it does start to get repetitive.
1:15-1:48 it seems to me that this part is either you trying to experiment with different things, or you getting bored and playing around with stuff a bit and just loosening up and having a bit more fun. The manuals, then the crazy green thing, the kramual cannon, and then the integration. But the thing is, they're really cool ideas and really fun to watch (the green stuff was GREAT and the kramual cannon was probably the first I've seen that really flowed well) but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for when or why they happen, and our ultimate conclusion is that this was a "fuck it let's try this thing because I'm tired of doing the same old fling quirk" moment.
The interesting is, the clean fling quirk does get boring to watch, at least for me, as well as it is boring to make. I know valance and valence 2 were hits, but it feels to me like a style that gets stale pretty quickly because of how little change there is in the visual - that is, if there isn't some overarching plan or reason to it. Even in supersonic motion, which I gave a holy shoe, I criticised the speedy fling quirk parts the most because it did get somewhat repetitive after a while, and the cool bits like the tube and such felt kind of randomly thrown in. And maybe if you take supersonic motion and take out the synced drop, take out the kramual ending, and make the opening feel like filler... do you get this track?
I think this goes to show the power of 1) planning 2) the ending 3) engaging the viewer throughout the track, including the beginning.
I'm a little worried to post this review because I know you spent months on this, and I know I'm not actually giving any coherent advice. But I will say one thing - if the track had had 10x as much of the green stuff, 10x as many krmaual cannons, 10% of the fling quirk, and the opening was intentionally slow and building, this review probably would have been mostly positive.
This isn't to say that there are criteria for variety or cohesiveness that I am comparing you to or that I like some tricks more than others, but I think our tracks turn out better if we find the ideas we have that seem sort of crazy but super fun, and then just take them as far as we possibly can. As it is, the three things I will remember about this track are 1) lots and lots of speedy clean fling quirk that all kind of blurs into one 2) that moment where you had all the green crap 3) that spot where you used a kramual cannon.
Line Rider is hard. This stuff is hard. I hope this helped. I hope you keep playing and make more stuff soon.

Don't worry about not being positive in your review . I kind of encourage a more negative standpoint so I know what to work on for my next track, however, I'm not sure when or if there will be a next track.
What you described my track as (repetitive, kind of dull I guess) is how I feel about Line Rider as a whole right now. I know I have the capacity to make a really good track if I put my mind to it, but I just don't have that drive anymore. If I take the time to plan a track, I'll spend too long trying to perfect even the slightest thing to the point where it becomes a chore to work on. If I even manage to open Line Rider now-a-days it's to work on a singular collab with Ryder, and even then I just kind of half-ass it because I can't stand playing this game. I only push through because I don't want to bail on him. Kind of a shitty way to go out right? I always wanted to make that one track people would remember me for, instead I'll probably just be remembered as the most average and modest Line Rider player. I guess if I am remembered at all in a few years that's a plus haha. Maybe one day I'll make something you guys, and even myself, can be proud of. I guess we'll see whenever that day comes . Until then this is probably goodbye.
