Streaming Idea

as i was watching the marathon stream, I noticed people would talk about tracks that didn't make it or just fun facts and inspirations. That gave me an idea, what if we have someone go through all their old tracks and commentate about memories, inspirations, favorite parts ect. They can pause to tell a story or w/e they want, it'll be more free and open than the marathon. I think the best way for everyone to watch the track would be to just post the link in the chat and then they can watch it themselves, that way streaming quality doesn't ruin the track.

i know for a fact i have lots of stories of old scenery tracks i've made, and i feel like people just know me for scenery, when in fact i was pretty active with bare tracks and i loved making them

of course we need to have a set schedule, like find out a time that works for everyone and what not. it'll almost be like a "these are the tracks that made me who I am today" type of thing.

so any thoughts?

This is a genius idea. Sort of a Sled Cast 2.0 except more personal and flexible. I'd be glad to participate and/or organize anything with this.

I think this would be awesome. I was already thinking about doing like, sled cast style interviews (except letting the other person really drive the interview instead of just asking a series of questions) BUT I think it would be EVEN COOLER to take myself out of the picture entirely and just have someone kinda interview themself. (still might also fun to do interviews to get people who won't jump at the chance of broadcasting themselves on the stream)

I still don't know what sledcast was. Somebody point me to an archived session?

what if the viewers were to ask the questions and the streamer answers them

Maybe, but if the stream viewers answered all the questions, the person streaming wouldn't have time to get to the parts that he really finds interesting to talk about, and/or the chat gets grumpy because their questions aren't answered. Maybe if the streamer asks for viewer questions, we could do it that way.

Having viewers ask questions is also hard to do when you don't have a lot of viewers, or you have viewers who don't feel like asking questions or don't know what questions to ask.

No harm in trying it out but I wouldn't bank on that. Could do a Q&A session at the end of something else, or while you were working on something else, that way if there were (worst case scenario) zero questions you wouldn't be stuck with nothing to do.

All of these ideas sound great. One thing that I didn't like about sledcast was the generic series of questions. It felt really mechanical, dull, and predictable. An interactive, flowing, improv interview would be more enjoyable.

i see it more as just getting to see tracks that people aren't really known for, it'll show that everyone has to start at some point!
