Acid Rain - Enil Empty Acid Rain - Enil

Post by Enil Sat Aug 17, 2013 1:41 pm

Turn out to be a bigger project than I had intended. I tried to keep riding inside of objects tasteful, but feel free to absolutely hate it. Don't complain about length though, please. I made this track because it was an enjoyable little hobby to do when I had some free time, and with that, I only wanted to scene a 20-30 second track rather than a super long one. Just what I prefer.

I actually hit a point around 25k lines where it lagged enough to make sceneing somewhat difficult, so you'll find parts of the track aren't as polished. It's also a reason I just didn't want to scene the end, as well as I just started to get bored at the end. Don't want to keep making a track if I'm not having fun!

Anyway, 32k lines. Acid Rain.

Oh lord, out of all the times you could have possibly released a scenery track...

This was very nice, though! Something about the art style just made it really enjoyable for me; I'm no expert, so I couldn't pinpoint it for you, but there was something about how you drew the scenery that made it totally lovable. Props from me, great to have you back in action!

That was really cool. Only bit that I felt weird about was the last bit of the last curve, which didn't look very much like part of the tree, yet had some of the texture of it. Sorta struck me as odd.

I liked the cartoony art style. It looked very solid.

yay I get to use my scenery criteria again and stuff

Ambitious? Nah but thasokay
Epic factor/Impressive? certainly impressive. lot of black.
Complete/Cohesive? cohesive, yeah. blank stall makes it kinda incomplete though
Vision? idk
An Experience? yeah I suppose. was cool.

Quality of art? pretty good. kinda felt like cutouts which was really cool.
Creativity in scening things? loved the tunnels.
Speed manipulations? nah but thasokay
Detail? yeah! loved the dots. ground looked awesome too. And I loved the XY shading creating greys
Consistency? great
Unified Theme? fo sho
Originality? not much in the overall thing, but great in the details and small stuff and whatnot. so yeah.
Speed? slow but good speed for a minitrack. Fit well.

Monument placement? not really any monuments, would have been nice to have one at the end perhaps.
Monument usage? trunk of tree = nice
3-D (extrusion, adding shine, shading, contour lines, adding depth)? It felt flat, but in a cool patchwork kind of way. Like... a flat surface but with lots of details and stuff that popped out. shading was top notch and original. depth was awesome in some spots and maybe could have been utilized more in others.
Made sense? for the most part
"Hiding" the track? (this is bad) some of this. Didn't bother me too much. Didn't see any of what I would call "riding inside objects" (which would be like, bosh riding on the inside of the edge of the tree or something) just a bunch of kinda-covering up the track and stuff. Not really anything that bugged me.
Good Ending? Twas blank.

So yeah I understand about the not wanting to finish stuff. But here are some things to think about:
1) something small and intriguing can be just as great as something giant and crazyawesome, and is ALWAYS better than a blank stall.
2) you can let me help you split in the future if you are tired of lag: https://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t8243-let-me-help-you-split-super-easy-technique?highlight=split

also another thing, I noticed that you can't see everything at this zoom level, but if I zoom out then there was white space and stuff everywhere. So maybe in the future planning out the zoom level for the recording might be a good idea.
