Swing - By CamTheMan
Only three weeks, but it turned out as I wanted it to!
Also as a side note, this is the last full track I'll be making. I may have improved quickly but everyone's too good for me to justify putting any more time into this game. So hopefully, this track sums up my style of track-making. This community is great, and I'll still be around posting and looking out for cool things.
Thanks, it's been real!

You got very good very fast! it feels like im watching a manuquirk from '09. good job on the synchs and the variety it feels very non-repetetive if you get what im trying to say
you should try to synch tracks to other music genres so you can explore different track archetypes and see what you enjoy making the most.
favourite moments are: 0:35-0:37, 0:50-0:59, 1:19-1:21, 1:25-1:26, 1:28-1:31, 1:37-1:39
i want more!

Thanks so much, and thanks for watching the stream!
No more tracks from me, unfortunately. However, if I decide for whatever reason to start making tracks again I will definitely use your advice!

Cam, that was fantastic, and from Lukking's comments, I'll definitely have to view it again when I get home from work, as I had to watch without audio at work here. Sorry to hear you are retiring again so quickly but I can definitely understand the reasons, especially the part about "everyone's too good for me to justify putting any more time into this game". I can easily admit that I'm quite intimidated about the technical skill level of what remains of this community. I have started no less then 5 new tracks, put several hours into each of them, only to come back and watch what others are posting and realize that what I'm doing looks like the work of 3rd grader in comparison. It gets to be quite defeating.
Anyway, I think you did a bang up job on this, and have enjoyed what you've brought to the community.

Do not worry about what your tracks look like at first, those who are returning, I'd say. People will be more than happy to give you advice as to how to go about improving.
I loved this, and it's a shame you're going away </3

I really enjoyed this one. It has a fun classic feel to it. Seeing comments about people feeling discouraged to release something that seems sub par to todays standards almost makes me want to continue a track I started a few months ago that has less focus on technical ability and more on experimentation.
Also, despite what others say, I liked your song choice.

That's a limited way of looking at Line Rider. Line Rider is more of an art form than a game. In games it makes sense that you might not want to start a game that hundreds of people have already mastered, there are many games I don't play because of that reason, but art is different. Art doesn't have competition. You make stuff because you like making it and if people like looking at it then that's even better. It's like saying that learning to paint is pointless because others have already mastered it. If the rest of us thought like that people like me, Anton, and many others would have quit a long time ago. We started when the people were already doing crazy stuff, but we stuck with it and improved with each track, and I think it's been worth it every time. Don't think of it as a skill gap that you'll never cross like in an esports game, but a do-able challenge that just takes practice and discipline. You may say, "The practice and discipline isn't worth my time," but I say that every track is worth your time because it adds just a little bit more into the culture of what makes Line Rider, and the community appreciates that. Unlike games, your hard work isn't forgotten or over looked. You may play thousands of hours in CS:GO or League, but no one will ever give a crap about how good you are, but it's different in Line Rider. It doesn't matter how good or bad you are, as long as you gave a good effort towards your goal people will notice and praise you for what you did right and tell you what you can improve on. All that to say, please keep making tracks because every one of them is appreciated by the community, especially when people like you really give it all you got. Also as a side note, this is the last full track I'll be making. I may have improved quickly but everyone's too good for me to justify putting any more time into this game.

Wow, thanks TD! Sound is definitely a big part of this track so I think you'll enjoy it even more. There's some cute music sync stuff in there.TechDawg wrote:Cam, that was fantastic, and from Lukking's comments, I'll definitely have to view it again when I get home from work, as I had to watch without audio at work here. Thanks Seth, classic is what I went for given the Line Rider era I grew up with.SethComposerGuy wrote:I really enjoyed this one. It has a fun classic feel to it. I may have not explained myself properly, lots have addressed a similar point.theacp127 wrote:That's a limited way of looking at Line Rider. Line Rider is more of an art form than a game. So as far as Line Rider goes, I like being technical. That's the way I play this game, attempts to improve technically and make a track where the movement is retro and cool. I'm not great at scenery so I tend to avoid it, not to mention it's very time consuming. With that being said, being fussed about being technical personally doesn't help when I need the time to finish my degree at university with a strong grade. And to me, that matters a whole lot more than Line Rider ever could.
So my point was, there's no reason to spend hours and days and weeks on this when I need to prioritize other things. This project was more for closure anyway, seeing as I never really made anything I was happy with in Line Rider. And well, now I have and I'm satisfied with that. Sorry for the (sort of) rant, but I feel like it needed a response of some sort.
Again, thanks for the comments guys. It's what I look forward to most other than seeing the final product myself.

That was a lovely track. It was synced to a great song which is always good. The whole thing just had a really good feel to it. It was light and hoppy. Great work.

Look, Tech (is it ok if i call you that, I am really self aware right now) you shouldn't let that get to you. I'm sure everyone here would love to see a new track from you, no matter what the technical level was. Just be your self, You do you and it will all work out.

You've got the enjoyability factor down! I loved watching this track, it's a cool blend of old style and newfangled tricks. Great song and music sync too. The world could always use more manuals.
