IRTL down WRTL up youtube project

Honestly I can't believe none of us hadn't thought of this before.

Rich, Chuggers and I were talking in the livestream and were watching some old tracks that had a lot of views. A lot of these tracks advertise Iridethelines which obviously is down, so when people go there they think the community is down. So why don't we simply write a comment on these old videos saying "the line rider community www.iridethelines.com has been moved to www.weridethelines.com! Come join the fun!" Then everyone can thumb up the comment and it'll be the top comment on all the videos so everyone can see it.

It really wouldn't be hard, some of the top comments are like 20 or 30 thumb ups, so we could outdo them easily. And we could really use all those users looking for irtl but find its closed. I bet there are people who still try to go to irtl too, so it's worth a shot.

And I may add that, a lot of these videos still get a lot a views every week. A lot of people still comment them, I added a comment on make believe.

I had an idea like this, but I was afraid I'd be spat at for suggesting it.

I'm down for this. Each person could post a comment on a specific video, and we could all thumbs up each comment.

we need to be sure enough people upvote them though, so IMO rich we literally need to plan a specific time when we all go post a comment and everyone upvotes it to the top comment. we need a time where everyone will be online here at wrtl to do it. cuz otherwise our comment is going to get lost in the pages of comments and itll be tough to search through and find them. unless, is there a way to link directly to a comment on youtube? cuz that would make this alot easier.

It's not that hard to find comments, but maybe we could assign a specific person to post a comment on a specific video at a specific time and plan this all out.

It's not that hard, lol. Rich's comment already is in the top comments. Some of them might be a little bit harder to do, but it shouldn't be too bad in general.

So I suggest we compile a whole list of "top" videos that support or mention I ride the lines and add a comment along the lines of irtl is down wrtl is up. Then post a link to all the videos, or even better, if possible, a link to all the specific comments, and have anyone who view it thumb it up. Spread the word around until we have a substantial amount of thumb ups and then hope for the best from there. I'll be more than willing to do that tomorrow at some point, that is compile the videos and start posting some comments. I use my youtube account a lot though so I don't want to post so many comments that they start looking like spam and might affect my account negatively, but I mean anyone can pitch in really, it's not that difficult. We should probably keep it the same comment throughout each post though, repetition does wonders on mass media.

^ Most people have the attitude of "If it has upvotes, it's not spam". I swear, if spam has 2 upvotes, the number will keep going up.
But yeah, as long as we have 1 of the top comments on each of TD's videos, I think that's pretty much good enough.

Brilliant idea. Enough thumbs up and they'll stay up there. We need to pick TechDawg's videos, but if we wanted to really go for it, we could theoretically do it for all of the massively popular videos such as Jagged Peak Adventure...but that might not feel right, because it wasn't initially advertising IRtL like TD's.

It's gonna take a butt-load of thumbs to the be top rated on Discarded.

So I was going to start making comments for everyone to thumbs up, but then I threw up lots and got a fever. So yeah it looks like the majority of you are already working at posting comments which is great. If I feel better tomorrow I'll try and do my part as well. And wishline is right, let's only advertise on videos that advertise irtl. If it doesn't mention irtl in the video or descriptions then just skip it. Unless you can get permission to do so, but that's a whole other task to get in contact with them.

yeah thats gunna be the problem, a lot of of people are going to think this is all spam. Hedge's idea of making a reference to Techdawg beforehand wouldn't be that bad, makes it seems less spammy.

Also, not only should we be doing this on the huge videos, but look for new youtube members uploading linerider videos.

We should make a list of videos to go to, and assign someone to make the comment, and tell everyone to thumb them up.
