LRG - Roses & Violets
https://vimeo.com/126758054
I don't have that much to say about this. It was a really fun track to make though, because it made the whole approach to "scenery" (I use that loosely) totally different. It started out as a normal quirk, then for some reason I started liking the color playback better than the normal one, and I started to think about things you could do if you planned mainly for a colored playback. This is just me trying whatever came to my mind, like a "trackified" brainstorming session.

I really enjoyed watching this.
This track feels inspiring, to go out and try new things.

Wow, that was cool. Besides the fact that the "scenery" was really cool, the track itself was amazing. I was expecting a huge manual track with awesome scenery when I found out you were making a new track. This blew my mind a bit. Very cool.

oh my gosh, you are my inspiration, that was flipping awesome both the track and the "scenery", espicially the mirror image that was amazing

Pies, that are ossum. Ossumpies. I LOVED this dude! Apart from the creative scenery, the track displayed some real skill as well. The flow was very refreshing, it's always sweet to see "oldschool" players come back with a new track, they're less affected by recent developments. I hope you'll stay for more

Oh how I wish I could make a track like that. Very cool stuff. You were able to keep a large amount of speed and consistency throughout the entire track, which many people can't do half that well. Loved it.

Re: LRG - Roses & Violets
Unless you called it specifically for this track LRG was making, not really. There have been a number of attempts to do color scenery in the past. Most notably, this winner of Line Art of the Week by noname219 back in fall 2009 (original poll was on the old site):Dapianokid wrote:CAN I SAY CALLED IT ON COLOR SCENERY

There was one attempt to make actual color scenery in a track (I remember there being peppermint candies in it) but I don't remember the track or creator anymore, as it was in like 2008. Concept hasn't been explored in a loooong time though and it's cool to see it coming back in light of all the innovations happening recently.
Some really cool ideas in this track. It was a little bit of a grab bag, so I hope some of the better ideas get the full-track treatment sometime I think my favorite things were the fake granuals, never seen anything like that before but I love it because it's trick-based aesthetic, which I'm excited to see developing. I also really enjoyed the mirrors, though I think this would be really awesome with a full track treatment and maybe he could ride on both sides? Not sure where you were going with the 1-2 bit, but it was certainly confusing. And of course the DNA stuff was super fun especially when he rode in it, and the platform balancing on the circle, and the big X support things (though I wish there was more of them, I'd love to see a whole track created around stuff like this). When I was recording I also noticed the fling recycled as a quirky curve thing, that was nicely done though I probably wouldn't have noticed it upon first watch.
Overall, lots of really cool ideas that I hope to see developed, even if it was pretty clear that it wasn't planned that way for the start. Really hope to see more from you, whatever it may be!
Also, any reason you didn't upload to youtube? If you're not planning to I may end up uploading it to IRTLTube for playlist purposes.

totally different, dude... technically yeah "color scenery" but it involved a ton of editing, vs this stuff looks the same in the video as in line rider.Getthim wrote:don't forget my attempt with your help rabid

Re: LRG - Roses & Violets
Thanks for all the awesome comments, everyone! I had no idea what any of you would think about it at all, so seeing all this positive feedback regarding both the concept and the track itself feels amazing!
Thanks! And yeah, the mirror thing is probably my favorite part as well, along with the granuals Rabid mentioned.
I think Dap mentioned it in regards to my track. Someone did in the chat at least, I don't really remember who, as I was in the chat all day long, talking to a lot of people.
I wasn't aware of the track you're talking about, but I remember that star upon seeing it. It didn't enter my mind at all while making this though :o But yeah, this is really just dipping a toe into the water of possibilities.
Thanks! I'm definitely going to explore this concept further, especially after seeing the interest in it, so thanks again to everyone for all the feedback, I really do appreciate it greatly. Aaand there will probably be some other stuff eventually too
Also Sheldon, I wasn't aware of that either, it's really cool though!
Same goes for you Getthim, even thought it's a totally different concept, it looks beast. Shame it didn't get more attention, I would love to see it explored further!
And creds to Rabid for noticing my recycled fling and all the detailed feedback in general, I'm definitely going to keep it all in mind while exploring this further. And yeah, it's not on YouTube for a number of reasons. I was a bit worried about them removing the music, and I feel more like reintroducing my YouTube channel with something more than this little experiment. Feel free to upload it to IRTLTube though. I can send you the video file, unless you can download straight from Vimeo?
I would also like to encourage anyone who feels like it to explore these concepts further too, wether just as a gimmick in the color playback, or as the main track. The mirror thing for example is really easy to do with 90 and 45 degree line locking, and a bit of geometry. I can post a quick image-based tutorial if anyone is interested. And it is insanely fun to force oneself to think out of the box, which you have to in this situation, because it's pretty much all uncharted territory.

Yeah lrg I noticed the recycled fling no one recycles as inverted hand. Luck or intentional it was really good either way ahah

I can download it straight. But might I suggest making a junk youtube like I did?LineRiderGjert wrote:And yeah, it's not on YouTube for a number of reasons. It was a really good idea. Super freeing to be able to upload anything without having to feel like it meets a standard. So many fun things have been uploaded to that channel since I made it an eon ago.
Haha I never saw that! No I'm thinking of a different one. So cool though how so many people have done this idea in small ways in the past.Chuggers wrote:also rabid, are you forgetting my giga masterpiece from 2009

Re: LRG - Roses & Violets
this thread's accidental derail made me lol
was referring to his specific track, from chat that one day. Also, I want to really explore zoomed out color scenery. I did wanna do the American flag but never got on it...
Anyway, this finally inspired me to manual and try stylistic rotational and speed choices. You were the one who motivated me to try working with lowspeed and manuals for real, so don't anybody forget that :p

Re: LRG - Roses & Violets
This track made me laugh, in a good way ofc. As I was watching it was really apparent that you're a scener at heart. I could just imagine the struggle of trying to make flings and stuff and in your head your scenery instincts are going "OH MAN THIS WOULD LOOK COOL SO IM GONNA MAKE DAT!! "
Well done!
