Holcomb227
also known as: Holcomb
@Holcomb227
The first person in Line Rider to make all-manual tracks, and the first person to show everyone that manuals weren't as hard as we thought they were. But, beyond that, the first person in Line Rider to make an entire track that followed some sort of theme with its tricks, and the first person to make tracks in a style that people are still indirectly copying to this day.
Even though his videos have been lost, the entire genre he created lives on, and we still have evidence of his mastery from two collabs and a compilation video.
Best One Ever [2006]
Nothing is know about this track except that it is his first track to appear in the Linerider.org archive on December 16, 2006.
The Amazing Nose Manual [2007]
Released January 20, 2007. Video has been lost. The first all nose manual track ever created! It caused a huge buzz.
[Many other videos that have been lost]
Lots of manuals, smattering of gravity wells.
Some fragments can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUy_PHzZYnk#t=27m08s (27:08 - 28:54)
Make Believe [2007]
(Bare Track)
Watch it Now [2007]
Video has been lost, release date unknown. Entry for the first Tournament of Champions as "Manuals". This is the track of this clip from DaPoe's compilation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUy_PHzZYnk#t=27m53s (27:53 - 28:54). Nose Manuals, gravity wells, and some very simple scenery.

Holcomb's manuals are still amazing - they're so clean, even for today's standards
Also, more of his work can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUy_PHzZYnk from 27:08 to 28:54

whoa woohoo thanks IGLima! Glad to see at least some sections of his tracks preserved! I remember that lightly scened track in particular. (updated the OP)
Re: 2 - Holcomb227
sorry for double post, but I also think I remember one track of his where it started out with an upwards nose+tail pinch, which everyone called an elevator, and trying to duplicate it and failing miserably haha. Not 100% sure it was holcomb but I think it was him.
Re: 2 - Holcomb227
Wow, I had no idea people were playing LR anymore, let alone talking about old players. Thanks rabid, this made my day.
And I didn't do elevators so I don't think that was me.

I'm slowly writing bios about big names from the past because nobody knows who you guys are anymore!
Glad that you got to see this.
I suppose I will be forever mystified about that elevator video I remember from 2006, haha. But thanks for clarifying.

Re: 2 - Holcomb227
I want to say !wendel! was doing tail manuals before I was. And he's a pretty good artist for the time. Check out his youtube channel for some old awesome stuff.

Scorpion video is broken at least for me so I reuploaded it to IRTLTube:

Also found a partial .sol with Holcomb's first part:

Hedge must have given it to me way back when

Re: 2 - Holcomb227
Data dredged up from the linerider.org video index
I think the video he entered in ToC was called Watch it Now but he entered it with the name "Manuals", based on chih's list and the playlist I made.
The track I remembered watching when I was first starting out was The Amazing Nose Manual.Jan 20

Re: 2 - Holcomb227
So this history stuff is fascinating. I am about to publish an unfinished and unreleased 90% nose manual track by wendel that predates crazy castle run (12-29-06), or at least I think it does because the save is earlier in the .sol file.
So that brings us to this progression:
November 2, 2006 - Valo/rollerboots makes Beta 1 nose loop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2Uli37BcLs
December 2006 - wendel makes first (90%) nose manual track but doesn't finish it or release it (recently discovered in Chih's old .sol files)
January 20, 2007 - Holcomb releases first nose manual track, "The Amazing Nose Manual" (video lost)
February 3, 2007 - Wendel releases "Manuals" which include the first tail manuals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmDDAS5jKsQ This is his only manual-related track release. (followed up with a tail manual tutorial three days later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1z8b6DbNaY)
Also, I found the thread where he posted the naked make believe sol via archive.org but the link was broken It's so old though that I wasn't surprised. But I KNOW people have it
I will edit the OP with some error fixes (Notably, naked Make Believe track was made in Feb 07, not 2006)
This is all before my time (I signed up on .org in February 2007) so if anyone has corrections to this (CHIH IF YOU'RE READING THIS!!!) please let me know.

Re: 2 - Holcomb227
^ That is correct, sir! Tail manuals didn't exist until people figured out how to balance manuals with accel lines.
Here's the video of wendel's track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ-hCfr_EYs
