Unleashed Design Mockups

I've posted some screenshots of Unleashed before that had some UI elements on display.
That UI was really bland and didn't give a great first impression of Unleashed. Seeing as I'm having a change in direction for Unleashed, I figured that I may as well actually make the UI look a tad nicer. So, I've got some mockups to show off Smile

Because I wanted to see what it would look like in fullscreen on my iMac, all of the mockups are 2560x1440 images, so zoom in if you want to get it pixel perfect Smile

For the title screen, I wanted to give a great first impression for Unleashed. So, why not show off some amazing tracks?
I've got rabid's Archaeology here as an example, and it's blurred and greyed out because it will actually be playing, so I didn't want to create *too much* of a visual distraction from the title pane itself. I figure that I'd have it download a few tracks when the game's open so that the title tracks would rotate through a set of great tracks, alongside some randomly selected tracks created by the user.

Leaving the title screen for 10 seconds will cause it to fade out and let the title track play in all its glory. Moving the mouse or pressing a key brings the menu back.

I'll be adding more to this post over the next week as I define the look of Unleashed Smile

my main thought is - how can you get the tracks that play to update when a great new track comes out?

I'm not sure how I'll handle it. It'd be nice to let authors specify a URL for the track credit to go to, but I don't want there to be a really inconsistent experience where some links go to forum posts, some to YouTube videos, some to personal websites, etc.

What I think I'll do is have it default to no linking, with tracks downloading from an inXile server (we'd get in contact with track makers and ask whether they want their track featured as a title track). However, if a forum decided to write an integration plugin, they could simply override the defaults, specify their own track server and make track credits act as links.

It'd download new tracks while you're in LR and use them next time you bring up the title menu.

That looks very... professional Shocked . I really like the menu setup, not to mention the entire "track in the background" thing that everybody is excited about

People use the word 'pro' an awful lot, but here I genuinely think that that does make it look like professional software. Looking forward to where this will be going!

A few suggestions:

Mysteria, Dacite, ReMake Believe/TD and Son Inc., MMX, Heaven, Beautiful Things, anything simple.

Don't use:

Breathtaking silence, incito scaena, stuff too dense, two tracks by the same person.

Why not have the title go to the track playing on the InXile server, and the author's name go to a site of their choice?

TD and Son - good luck getting the .sol
MMX - in many parts, and good luck getting the .sol
Beautiful Things - sorry wut?
BS and Incito - why would they be "too dense"? In any case, they're all in a bajillion parts and the .sols are lost iirc

Why use tracks that were made by flash versions? Why not release it to some people who can make movies with it? I'm saying this because there will always be that one annoying person that will point this out. I do realize that's me right now, but I can understand motivations once explained.

^ I think it's just a mockup and he'll be using tracks that are made using Unleashed in the beta period. Not positive, though.

Those tracks are all saved on .sols because they weren't made in Unleashed, obviously. I had to send mhenr the archaeology .sol, the youtube video is much smaller than what you see in that picture.

Also, something I just thought of mhenr - can you specify a zoom level?

Maybe use straight video (avi, flv) as the background to get all the classic tracks. I say Jagged Peak Adventure is necessary.

It'll just use the default playback zoom.
This isn't supposed to be the primary way of watching Unleashed tracks, it's just a way for people to get a glance at what's possible and what's new.

It's the plugins window. The bg track is still the title track because you get to this window from the title screen.

Well in that case, make it so only Flatsled and manual tracks play. We don't want to discourage new people because they can't figure out a simple gwell.
