Autosave

Post by OTDE on Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:29 pm

Just another idea I'd like to toss at Kevans/Conun/mhenr if he's alive.

Something simple that you could toggle on and off, which could then be set to save every X minutes. Wouldn't that make our lives all so much less excruciating? Well, at least mine, because I'm A BIG STOOPID DOODOOHEAD and always close the program before saving.

or like most programs have it alert "Would you like to save your work before exiting? Y/N" then
"Are you sure you didn't accidentally click no?" then "Are you positive" then "Just making sure because i Know you tend to accidentally click no."
Just to be safe.

Well it would suck if you just made a mistake. For example erasing a line, and shift+backspace doesn't work properly. Then autosave! Track is gone.

what if it made frequent backups of the track, so you could always have something to fall back on in the event of a cereal/kramwood moment :P

I've had lots of experience with Line Rider. I know what frustrates all of us.
Also, gonna collaborate with mhenr18 after I learn C.

No. NO! You can NOT just waltz in here after being innactive and suddenly go "Yeah sure, I'll do some stuff".

This is UNNACCEPTABLE! STOP IT! NOW!

I believe I figured out a way.

There will be a separate code that automatically saves every minute. the auto-save sol will have a name of "Autolines" or something similar. the save/loader will have the option to switch between "savedLines" and "Autolines". similar to 6.8, a secondary sol will be saved in the #localwithnet folder, but will not be read or editable unless moved.

the only downside is that these sols can fall victim to clearing your cookies.

Spoiler:
also, if I can apply some kickass javascript, a third sol will be saved on the desktop 8D
