You can't "convert" .sol files. AVM1 uses the same .sol format over all fp versions, it's not the .sol that's different, it's the differences in precision of the math engine between different flash players. The 6.1/6.2 difference is due to optimisations of the gridsize internally, as well as acceleration lines - you can't "fix" a track - that particular configuration of lines will simply never work in 6.2 without it running in compatibility mode (which is what 6.2 and 6.7 do to handle 6.1 trackers).

The 6.2>6.7 difference is due to math errors in the decompiler I used to get my source to build with - the core variables of the game are actually different by a small amount (like 0.001), so it'll feel the same but you won't get the right calculations. Because of this, the 6.1 mode in 6.7 will similarly be broken.

Also, you can't code a .sol tool in Flash. Because LR saves them with a header of savedLines.sol, you can't name it specialLines.sol and then read it by asking Flash to load specialLines.sol. I always had issues with that, it's why I never had multi-sol capability in my versions. You might be able to pull off some ungodly hack to work around it, but I never figured one out.

(except for firing up a text editor and changing the header to the other filename, in which case it's easy but then the whole point of a tool that does things for you is moot)

That was unexpected.

Welcome back for a day, Mhenr.

I didn't say anything about converting, the application will only rename, I've put in a warning saying basically what you said

yes I have decompiled different versions of LR, and I'm aware of the differences.

ummmm.... did you not read my most recent success? I have gotten the flash to recognize the sols. I just need to add the rename application, and add some warning pop ups and such, and tada! I didn't intend this to manipulate the tracks by how they appear or load. The only track editing will be the ability to merge sols, and isolate individual tracks as separate sols. Why don't you try putting in the wild card code inside the name reconnection, that's what I'm doing. Basically what I'm doing is making my flash read sols containing "savedLines", anything can be before or after that key word. I might add some shorter key words or something...

Update 9/17/11 - Okay, so as one of the tiny features I'm adding for convenience reasons, I am making a conversion chart. This will be an image that will cross reference what versions of linerider will play nice with different sol versions (Basically load properly, and play the track properly). The problem I have is that I don't know is what does play nice, and what doesn't. So I'm requesting help from the community to provide me with this information. Example: 6.7 sols work with 6.2, 8.0, and 5.1, but not 7.0, 7.2, or 7.3. (I'm lazy)

This is a preview of what it will look like. Please understand this is not a beta for the testers, it it currently unstable, and not ready for testing. If you do figure out how to get a sol folder to appear for it, edit at your own risk.
