Post by [senpai] kevans Tue Aug 02, 2011 6:03 pm

Update 9/17/11 - Okay, so as one of the tiny features I'm adding for convenience reasons, I am making a conversion chart. This will be an image that will cross reference what versions of linerider will play nice with different sol versions (Basically load properly, and play the track properly). The problem I have is that I don't know is what does play nice, and what doesn't. So I'm requesting help from the community to provide me with this information. Example: 6.7 sols work with 6.2, 8.0, and 5.1, but not 7.0, 7.2, or 7.3. (I'm lazy)

Todo and such

recognize sols - done
create list of sols w/ names - done
rescan - done
rename sols - 95%
public beta 1 release - N/A
isolate function - 0%
Dive function - 0%
merge function - 0% (I might cancel this because it seems a bit un-practical IMO)
password function - 0%
history function - 0%

basic feature

-Rescan: Lets the flash find new sols, or re update the list if changes have occurred
-History: List of the previous 20 actions that user has made.
-Activate/deactivate: Renames sols to be read/not read by your linerider
-Password: When applied, this will f-up the sol in some way to prevent users from stealing
-Merge: Combine sols
-Dive: editing to tracks found within sols
-Rename: Do i need to explain?

BETA TESTERS WANTED, first 5 to volunteer gets to beta test: 4/5 filled. (Helios doesn't count because he was already on my list of beta testers)
I will send a beta to Rabid because he's the admin, and i would like a "professional" review, if you do not want one, please comment or PM.

THIS JUST IN!

Sol exchange public beta 1 will come out sooner than I expected. I will send closed betas when ready to test to the beta testers who volunteered.

If you haven't you should make it an AIR app and set up a server and allow people to host it off there - could be flippin' sweet.

I wish you best of luck, sounds like a huge project!

@KP - what are you talking about?

kevansevans wrote:Merge sols or take single tracks from other sols, and merge them into a single sol.
Apply passwords to sols so certain users can't use them.
those sound like the coolest to me. password protection because then you can post .sols in clan threads and nobody could peek at them, and merge so you wouldn't have to compress a whole bunch of .sols for scenery projects.

all the other stuff besides conversion we can already do without much trouble. I'll be very surprised if you can somehow convert Flash Player 9 .sols to FP10/Mac .sols, or fix the issues with 6.1/6.2/6.7 compatibility because I know mhenr tried and failed, but it would be cool. Beta 3 to 6.7 conversion would be cool as well.

Good luck with this Very Happy

Haha what I'm talking about is not realizing what kevansevans was talking about. Remember how I haven't worked with Line Rider in a long time? My bad guys, just an interesting first post for someone joining the forum to make.

Sounds like quite the project, good luck! I'm sure a lot of people will find it useful.

For those interested (specifically Luddites like myself who still use 6.1) there is a site already set up which provides .sol upload space and track management tools. It claims to function only for 6.1 .sol files, but other versions may work. Sadly the developer abandoned the site, but the features should still work.

Hey kevansevans, remember me?! I'm sure you do.

I really like this idea, I'm looking forward to it. My only concern is that are you able to program all that stuff? It seems pretty complicated to me.

I hate air... I so Hate it. And I don't want to host anything, this is personal application sort of thing.

Actually, I have Fl cs4, which was the first to support ten. If I can dig up my flash decompiler, I can find out the differences between each version and fix it with the codes. Beta 3 to 6.7 may not work because of the decelerate lines, trap door, and the fact it has a smaller line minimum and slightly altered physics. That's why silverlight didn't do well with conversions because of the new physics.

OH HAI! Yes I will be able to code this, like I said it before, I got it to reconise .sols. Save codes are actually very easy, Most save codes just run on word variables like "Frame 30", when thats loaded, it will take player to frame 30. I will have to also dig up my linerider/skater raw files and navigate the code for the save codes. Unless Mhenr is willing to help.
