No, lets let the staff have some time being humans and lets learn not to be complete dickwatts, instead. The world isnt centered around this forum nor is it centered around you pwoplw, so stop acting like it is.
And while I'm not against kohuded getting mod, I'm against people mindlessly throwing out statements in allcaps that have little to do with the current topic at hands. Basically I don't like random flow disruptors.

Ok, I just gotta say that when I asked to be mod again I just wanted to help out a bit, not be a new constant. I do the featured movie thing now and for the rest I lurk and moderate. Lately as far as I've seen there wasn't much to do, but I have to admit I haven't been online a lot either as I didn't have a monitor for a week or so.
Anyway, I'm all for new staff and if we need new constants I think indeed Raf and Wolf are good candidates. They seem to be reliable members that are online a lot.

Ololol Ceph. How is getting new staff not letting the inactive staff be human? They've been "human" for about 5 months now...

Getting new staff isn't interfering with what I'm saying, nagging on current staff about getting new staff is.

Maybe you should be human too instead of worrying about a site that barley needs any moderating done. Just because you have probably ran a forum before doesn't mean you know how to run one.
The staff do what they have to do, bringing on more staff members won't fix anything, sure it might seem good for a month or two, but in the long run, modding becomes tiring and soul consuming and thats when they start to become slower at their normal forum responsibilities.
tl;dr (even though you should of read it as it isn't that long): Get over it already.

No, seriously guys, lets think a little here,
as a rather inactive member, I tend to miss loads of key stuff going on, however, which people have been the 2 constants you have ALWAYS had? AC and Rabid, from the very god damn start. While you might argue that because they don't have time they shouldn't moderate / be admins, they're the damn reason this forum exists, basically, and don't bring that "its the members that make the forum, not the admins" bullsh*t reasoning in here.
Do we need more active members? probs.
Do we need more admins / moderators? probs.
However, we can't just randomly flip the script on the whole site or everything is basically gonna shut down. What I have learned from years of forum experience is that you need constants, and in general these are the admins. If we remove our constants now, we have no base core and therefore no leadership / organization, and the forum will die out.
What we need is another (ONE) mod that has been, basically, a constant for a number of years, and is willing to listen and pick up on what our admins have to say. If our admins take more of a tutor role and our mods act as "Agents on the field", we'll have a better organized and more attractive forum.
Instead of pushing AC and Rabid into retirement or stressing them so much that they basically don't want to be here anymore, why not just give them some room to work and a more relaxed workplace?

btw, @AC, tear 'em a new one, your at the pinnicle of life.

How hard is it to promote a new person to staff? hahaha I don't think that's really nagging, considering all you have to do is type in a name and it changes there color. You obviously can't say a forum doesn't need staff if the current ones can't even promote someone to LCC after 3 months.
And Rev: Thanks for calling me not human for voicing what everyone has and saying that we need new staff In what way is that worrying too much about a website? hahaha

You just dont randomly bloody promote people to staff, because that always ends bad. You want to know what you're dealing with when you promote someone, and that means actually getting to know the person, which takes time.

Re: I think it's about time guys...
Thank you Ceph. That means a lot. Sorry to everyone for not replying sooner; I wasn't at home because today I value real life more than an internet forum.
But 2-3 years ago, that was often false. I remember several times when I was at my one (I only had one friend that I hung out with back them) friend's house, and I would use his iTouch (it was always too late to use the computer) and chat in the SB, and hell I even participated in important TP discussions and deleted some porn posts on that thing, too. I would be on IRTL for at least an hour of our hanging out time, but I still considered it a privilege to help out. Hell I remember when .org attacked us with porn/spam; I was at my friend Kennan's house (other friend, whoooaaa i had like 5 then), I got a text from DJ (Darkness) informing me about it and I went on Kennan's computer while the 4 or so of them were watching Up. Stayed on there dealing with stuff/trying to cool everything down for the rest of the night. That was maybe a year and a half ago. I remember when I got promoted to Elite; it was the the proudest moment of my life at that point. I have plenty more similar stories, but these memories stick out for me.
+A few months ago I wrote about you guys for college applications, and all of the people that I normally hang out with know about Line Rider and this forum. "But AC, if you care so much, then why don't you do any work here anymore?" I wish I knew; I guess it's just the way I am. I guess I reached the point where I can seldom bring myself to do admin work (but in dire situations such as these, of course I'm gonna do it). I've been avoiding this place recently because it's really hard for me to admit stuff like this; I was growing balls so that I'd be able to. I compare it to having to let your good friends know that you might be moving away in a few months: how [censored] hard is that? side-comment: now you know what I always put hearts and smiley faces and [censored] in every post lol
"Why don't you retire if you don't want to do work?" I've played the situation out in my head a few times: we'll be left with one new active mod, as well as Purtle who isn't that active anymore, ZNF who isn't active anymore, Beast who isn't active anymore, Chih that physically can't be active anymore, Rabid who is basically retired (more inactive than me; let's make him pink [excuse the rude sarcasm]), and Hedge who... I don't even know where he is. And I hate being vain, but there are more ways to contribute to the site than to make MotW/CotM threads; my experience/insight/ideology/decision-making is valued by the staff. It's basically the main reason I was promoted. I just think I really understand people. At least Wabid would back me up with this part.

"SO YEAH THAT WAS NICE I GUESS, AC, WHAT ARE YOU AND THE STAFF GONNA ACTUALLY DO?"
1. Discuss the current staff activity; decide if any demotions should happen. But honestly I doubt we'll do it. And maybe somebody will retire, but I also doubt it. Yeah yeah high staff numbers blah blah. I'm just trying to be as realistic here as possible
2. Discuss promotion(s). Feel free (or encouraged) to be all bromantic and support people that you'd like to see promoted just don't be annoying and make a bunch of new threads or something, just do it in here lol, because after all this place is supposed to be democratic (besides appointing staff; rawr we are supreme overlords).
3. Promote people. Eat cake and give each other hugs etc.
4. ACTUALLY get stuff done. Sort out MotW, CotM, maybe LAotW, general moderation stuff, propose new ideas to spice things up, hopefully organize some fun stuff, make plans for ToCC2. If you guys would like to see something done, then just suggest it!
And please don't be impatient! I expect things to get done and decisions to be made quickly, but not immediately.

All I ask of you guys is respect. If you can't do that, then just be neutral, or lie and make me feel better (as long as I don't find out). Read between the lines, don't call me out for a sentence or two or twenty, and realize that the aim of this post is to get things moving and end all of the conflict/controversy. and that it's 4:30 AM and it will be easy for you to call me out, but I'll just reply tomorrow and make perfect sense and you'll end up agreeing so don't bother lululu. Just stop arguing and WORK TOGETHER. Stop having personal debates and JUST GET ALONG. Don't be "that guy", because one person can do a lot of damage with words in situations like these. And please realize the veteran staff are kinda sensitive about the topic right now.
+I know you might be thinking "oh you've promised to 'actually do stuff' last time and it came to this." Well damn, you've got me. None of us have good excuses, really. But we're not gonna let that happen again. If you guys are encouraging, however, we'll BE MORE MOTIVATED. :3
++I won't be here tomorrow late afternoon/night; going to a concert. Just wanna let it be known since some people are in srsbsns mode right now.

Re: I think it's about time guys...
You are TOTALLY missing the point. We're not saying "GET ACTIVE HERE WE'RE MORE IMPORTANT", we're saying that the staff should take responsibility for not being active. If they can't run this forum because they don't have time/motivation, I respect that. But then they should take responsibility for that and not being like "I want to keep the rank just in case.", or whatever their reason is. This might, and probably does, sound disrespectful, but I've alarmed the staff personally too many times (in a relatively polite way) and nothing has happened yet.Cephyric wrote:No, lets let the staff have some time being humans and lets learn not to be complete dickwatts, instead. Re: I think it's about time guys...
Wow...
First things first, thank you to everyone who nominated me for mod...seriously...it's quite amazing to feel that other people think I'm doing a good job ^^
Just been reading AC's long post and it's nice to see that some of these threads can make a difference.
I don't really think we need a WHOLE new set of staff. Just one or two promotions. What is really wrong is just that things like MotW and CotM get started and juust aren't finished due to inactivity. I think that some people would step in and finish them. We just don't have the power to really do it as so many things rely on having the mod/admin powers.
I think the mods/admins are active enough, they just need to be notified about some things, well apart from MotW/CotM as that's rabid's territory which should be changed...So we just need active enough mods who can step in and finish things, or get things started.
So, if you're discussing promotions, good luck to everyone really ^^
At the moment we need people stepping in for MotW, CotM, WrtL Scenery project and probably others.
CC runs LAotW perfectly well, he does it on time and all that, so no issues there.
Me and Purtle do PotD kinda consistantly...yeah I need to do more work for that, and I will, promise <3
I'd be willing to do the scenery project as I've done like 15 parts and I know how it all works and that. Plus we're SO CLOSE to being done in one of them and I want it released so badly ^^
I can't really come up with a conclusive paragraph or sentence so I'll just leave it at an abrupt ending.

First of all, everything that should've been said have already been said.
Thanks Rapto, I appreciate it. *Brohug* Anyway, I know the staff doesn't seem like they're doing anything because of their lack of motivation and what not to do anything and most of the staff really ain't here anymore.
I joined this forum really damned early, but I've never seen them done a really bad mistake and I hope and know they won't make one in the future.
I know that they'll promote someone soon, but let's just be patient.
Also epic epic post AC, I agree with all of it.

I think this is rubbing some people the wrong way.
Are we begging for the current staff to be more active?
My mistake, I thought we were simply asking for some NEW mods, people who don't mind spending time on this forum.
However, I see that AC is trying from his post, so I'm not trying to rush anything.
I thought returning to line rider would be fun, but damn, if there's always going to be explosions of controversy over stuff like this, I might as well do something else.

Re: I think it's about time guys...
Here's my idea, which probably has a ton of flaws, as I am making this post as I think of it, without planning
Make a list of all the active members, who have been on a lot. Colour code them to show ranks, and let members "vote" on who they think should get a promotion, or demotion. If a large portion of people think someone should get a promo/demo, than it can happen, as long as it's not a stupid trolling idea. If a bunch are like "Oh yeah, Tech Dawg should get demoted trolololol" then don't do it. But if a bunch of are like "I think W_S should get a promo because he's been active and helpful lately, and overall could add to how well the staff work" than he may get a promotion.

Just to clarify my situation briefly, I am finally online and have been for a couple days now. Yay me.
I'm mixed on this whole idea, and even though I'm gonna try to be brief, I feel that you guys deserve to hear my input as well, because we are all in this together.
I think it's a bad idea to say "its been x months/years since the last promotions, so its time". But I do think that it makes a good conversation starter. AND we do have several members that are more than worthy of any positions they could possibly receive. True, there isn't a lot of modwork, and most of the busywork are the cool recurring stuff we occasionally slack off on. But I agree with AC that the most important part of any of these positions is to add to the discourse, not just to make poll threads. In that regard, we could use some fresh minds.
And, even though I am officially a nerd and sit in front of the computer a lot again, I'm spending that time trying to finish a compilation book I'm self-publishing. You guys might see more of me after that project is done, and I might even sketch a nub track
