Re: Line Rider

Post by rabid squirrel on Sun Apr 24, 2011 4:28 pm

Hey guys, I decided to make a list of the stuff that was said in this thread, and sort it into true statements and false statements. Enjoy 8D

Note: There was a lot of stuff in the OP that was rude, mean, uncalled for, and/or off topic. I didn't bother including those, and just stuck to stuff that was just plain wrong.

False:
Spoiler:
@Helios Pavonine wrote:I think this will be slightly different than my other threads
@Helios Pavonine wrote:Line Rider has become a machine.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:Do you really play, after school, or if you're bored, Line Rider to have fun and experiment with styles? No.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:By the appearance of new tricks, a bit of style is lost.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:there are a few people who don't get suck away in the trend and lose interest in Line Rider, because they know they can't meet the standards. So they leave and only the pro's will stay.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:in the future every track will be just slightly different from eachother.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:We're simply blogging about Portal 2, Minecraft and music.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:No! All [HG14] does is turning WRtL in an off-topic battlefield of pointless discussions about drugs.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:Why don't we just go scene our tracks and then, even if it's [censored], release it? Nobody will really hate it
@Helios Pavonine wrote:Our only last hope for active trackmaking is obviously Pure. Pure is more amazing than LRG and Kramwood.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:Pure is truly the only one who sticks to his own style and express it into his tracks using simple tricks.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:I'm not scared to be -repped for a thread like this.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:People like me should be +repped for being honest and give IRtL feedback about how the future can look like. But nobody seems to get it.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:I didn't create this thread to start a discussion, you know. It's just my perspective on things.
(yes, they're all HP)

True:
Spoiler:
@Helios Pavonine wrote:riders who can't meet the standards quit Line Rider, [now] just rape the Off-Topic section.
@Helios Pavonine wrote:where have our sceners been? Where's the enthusiasm?
@Georgio_jc wrote:Dude, you remind me of a politician.
@Georgio_jc wrote:Just be the change you want to see on this forum, same counts for the whole world.
@Georgio_jc wrote:who cares if Kramwood does the craziest tricks ever or LRG one of the most insane scenery tracks..as long as they enjoy it, it is a great thing.
@Rafael wrote:You don't know how any of us play.
@Rafael wrote:It's extremely ignorant to think that everybody that doesn't have an awesome style doesn't care/think about style.
@Rafael wrote:I haven't seen anything new from you ever so you should know you can't "just" think about something new.
@Rafael wrote:Most of the time people don't quit because they can't reach the standards, but because they just get bored of the game after playing it for a long time. People go to the offtopic section because they want to relax a bit, share something, participate in a discussion, etc.
@Rafael wrote:you can't compare LRG to Pure because LRG is a scener. They're totally different.
@Rafael wrote:style ≠ using simple tricks. If you think style = using simple tricks, then you're freaking retarded.
@Purtle wrote:People enjoy different things. Some people enjoy pushing games to new heights/challenges/whatever, some people just like to play and see what happens, and everything in between.
@Purtle wrote:there is no such thing as the best player/rider in the world. Don't even try arguing it.
@Votale wrote:Tricks have nothing to do with style. And "style," actually, is something everyone, every single rider in history, has. It is their style. Your use of the word "style" is perverted into something you believe in your mind that it is, but it is completely different.
@Votale wrote:While we bust it making new tracks that we enjoy making you sit back, as someone before me said, "like a dictator telling us to have fun and make a stylish track."
@Votale wrote:you suck at Line Rider.
@Votale wrote:You didn't even know Line Rider existed when LRG was at his peak of activity. He was doing stuff in 2008 that many people can't do today.
@Votale wrote:It takes a ton of people to make a community active, and that's all of us. Pure could be here by himself and release tracks at the same rate, but is it active? No :|
@Votale wrote:Your opinions are so off it's hilarious. [it's sad]
@SPL4SHZ0N3 wrote:Style is how someone would put down lines without thinking; it would be your natural thought process of "what would I prefer to do at this moment."
@pure5152 wrote:The real problem is when people try establish one style as being better than the other, trying to 'standardize' line rider as a specific and idolized style.. whatever that means. But when you try to take someone's style like that, say kramwood's speedy and trick-heavy style, and criticize it to the point where it resembles this standardized and ideal style, what you're doing is you're devaluing that style, what it is; you're stealing what makes it unique and special. Some hate kram's style, but others, like myself, actually enjoy watching bosh mindlessly being bashed about and thrown soullessly around--it's actually enjoying to us.
@pure5152 wrote:The problem isn't tolerance, it's acceptance. We have to have an open and objective viewpoint when looking at tracks; we can't look at them in a limited and subjective manner. Everyone is different, and likewise, every line rider track is different as well. It's the subtleties, the things we often throw in vague categories: beautiful, stop-n-go, flowy, stylish, soulless, entertaining, boring, ugly. Instead of hating on tracks because they're not made in the kind of style we enjoy; instead of trying to force them to switch styles because it's getting repetitive; instead of forcing people to conform towards some standard; instead of trying to force people to do what they don't like doing; we should express acceptance, and encourage them to do what they love to do: making line rider tracks however they want. no standards. no judgement. if we do that, not only will more members be willing to express themselves without fear of judgement, but we'll have a more accepting, tolerating community that looks at tracks in their best light instead of subjecting them to unruly stereotypes.
@pure5152 wrote:although trick discovery will slowly slow down to a crawl, there is an infinite amount of combinations tricks can be put together. This is what matters: putting tricks together in a way that is interesting and unique. that's what we call style. It's not about the tricks, it's about how you put those tricks together. And although knowing more tricks gives you a lot more leg room, you can still make a great track with a limited trick base, just like how you can write a brilliant essay with a limited vocabulary.
@pure5152 wrote:line rider will never die. People will always be finding new and innovative ways to position their lines to make brilliant tracks. You don't have to be an aspi or a kramwood or any crazy rider who makes tracks that focus on high speed and a variety of radical tricks. Master what you have, what you know, and you will go places.
@GhostY wrote:scenery takes time and patience.
In my book, pure wins for best post. He should have written the OP lol

it's irrelevant, rude, and off topic, so it doesn't deserve to be sorted.

EDIT: and this:

is debatable, seeing as there have been a zillion threads on this. Most people would agree, but I'm not going to sort it because it's not agreed on by almost everyone.

To be fair, you can't say those are all false and true statements. Some are just opinions that the majority(or minority) disagree with.

Purtle has a point. You can't really sepoarate them into true and false because thet're oppinions. The false comments you wrote down, obviously podpack (and only podpack... I mean Helios Pavonine) thought they were true. These aren't as simple statements as "the sky is blue", even though it seems like it is to the general population of the linerider forum.

Reading all of this and seeing how much of a dork hp is ( Hehe ) I think more threads like this should be made more often. Look at how many people have responded, giving a lengthy, honest opinion about how they feel about line rider. It helps the community to grow. Naw I meen bros?

Re: Line Rider

Post by Helios Pavonine on Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:37 am

^ Exactly. I don't create these threads for fun or to bother/annoy people, I just feel like I have the right to say what I think about this community and Line Rider. I do read most of the posts and often agree with them, but if I don't, I can't seem to use any arguments against them. That's probably because all my arguments are stated in the OP.

In the future, if I think something needs to be changed or added, I'll make shorter threads and actually discuss. Or I don't make any threads anymore and play Line Rider more, so I become a little more respected.

But really, I'm not mean or rude, but sometimes I need to vent and that's mostly in a negative way. So sorry.

Exactly how is the community growing from this? This does nothing but start arguments. It doesn't attract new members but repels them and, at rare occasion, makes active members leave.

Threads like this are pointless. Go play Line Rider :|
