The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
https://www.patreon.com/posts/line-rider-12139236
It’s up!
The link above has most of the relevant information about this endeavor as well as links to both the archive itself and a roundup of all the related sub-projects. Also, I encourage you all to take a look at the README at the top of the archive itself for a more formal FAQ of sorts that covers much more than this post will. However, I also want to less formally address some of the same things here as well, since if you’re reading this you probably have material in this archive, and thus it directly relates to you, so I want to address some anticipated concerns.
First, it is NOT my intention to dox anyone with this archive. All information about people contained in this archive was information I came across while browsing public websites directly related to Line Rider content and communities. That said, if there is personal information in this archive that you are not comfortable with being included, please let me know and I will accomodate those concerns as much as possible. There is a balance to be struck here, between preserving history and protecting sensitive information, but I’m confident that we can work out solutions that everyone is okay with. I encourage everyone to go look through your folder and contact me about any concerns. Also, please let me know if you spot errors of any size! I am but one man.
Second, The vast majority of the material in the archive was published and distributed publicly, but there are some files (mostly track files) in the archive that were sent to me privately at some point. I have a folder on my computer for files that it would not be appropriate to publish at present, mostly because the creator plans to extend and/or publish them at a later date. I encourage you to check your folder in the archive to make sure there are no track files that you want to keep out of the archive until you release it in the future.
Third - Please help me continue the archive! Submit files to the archive here:
https://www.dropbox.com/request/4tqU7np9RJrfu17LvBae
Additionally, please point me to Line Rider stuff on the web (such as a YouTube channel) you would like me to include that’s not already there (This includes asking me to archive your work if it’s not already there!)
Finally, The README encourages you to email me, but I will also be checking PMs, Skype, Twitch, this thread, etc so feel free to contact me any way you like. Heck, tweet at me if you want lol. Email is just the most reliable long-term contact method if I vanish from other places.
Thanks for reading! Enjoy this easy reference to practically all of the recoverable Line Rider history in one place (I spent about 1400 hours on it, if you can believe it!)

Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
You know, I would have at least appreciated it if you at least asked to upload my files elsewhere. I would have assumed this would have been something I made painfully aware that I would have at least wanted.
EDIT: I would have said yes had you asked, but now I want them off. Please take them down.

You srs m8, you really expected him to contact all 1k+ creators asking permission to host their files. You would post this, not a thanks or anything. smh[senpai] kevans wrote:You know, I would have at least appreciated it if you at least asked to upload my files elsewhere. Rabid, this was a huge effort on your behalf, and its almost invaluable. Who knows how many tracks you prevented from being lost forever, and how many tracks you recovered or unveiled that creators weren't necessarily going to post in the process. Amazing job!

An incredible and tremendously valuable effort. 10+ years of LR history, in one place. I'm more than happy to have supported this, and will continue to do so

Great job stealing people's art (or whatever you call it) and making money off it with Patreon, stellar work jerkbag. It was bad enough when you were retaining stuff the owners wanted deleted when there wasn't money involved. You're too much of a hassle now to deal with directly since your so hopelessly obsessed, but in case you didn't see the comment I added to the video, I'll leave it here so you don't miss it, because I'm sure you're obsessed enough to care:
That was when I thought OTDE was running it, as I was lucky enough that someone linked me over to it (thanks again, you know who you are) and nothing really indicates who posted it or that your Patreon was involved, so any good will you may find in that comment should be disregarded.
As an additional note, a few of those are finished and you might want them in separate videos, I dunno though:
Whyxy is done, there was never a stall
Do A Barrel Roll
Push the Weak Around
Blur
Gaea's Cradle
Rain
Will be taking the comment off the video itself, guess it doesn't matter too much since you'll be putting up a proper version later with all the fixes, as if you're going to publicly display this shit without the decency to even ask for consent, then I'll make sure you at least get it done correctly.
And if you get pissed off by seeing me here, because I'm sure someone does, just remember that you brought it upon yourself for doing this. If you expect anyone to just step away when this place has taken up so much of their lives (whether they like it or not) and you just keep digging the wounds deeper by doing this crap, then you're a devil
- Spoiler:
- Wow, now THAT is a lot of stuff I never thought I'd see again. Sometimes I hate that this place had such an impact on me that I"ll never forget it (particularly considering things I've done making it impossible to return), but I guess it helps in this case because I remember nearly every song to those tracks (though I appreciate the respectable choice of filler music). If you ever feel like remaking this with proper music, here's some help: Do A Barrel Roll = watch?v=MympFLCWEJU, start track at 0:09 on beat Push the Weak Around = watch?v=BkkOQjK71Ss, start around 0:17 with vocals Blur = I don't really remember, but the music choice was part of the contest so it should be listed in the old thread Gaea's Cradle = watch?v=NFN0GLAMJ3k, track starts around 0:33, can't remember exactly but it should be easy to find the sync Rain = watch?v=YeawgwjjgC0, pretty sure it started with the vocals around 1:15 bak (real name was Genesis) = watch?v=ja3LGFY1i0o, starts on-beat around 0:42, flatsled was heavily synced, so should be easy to get "Untitled" was going to be the second part in a series with watch?v=sqFspblSyFk as the song and 2 track on album, but was scrapped and released incomplete with watch?v=j7bPePvGnJw instead, choose whichever you prefer and just use the song name as the track name as that's what it would have been in either case Undefined (real name Supernova) = watch?v=No230vTfJOE , he should hit the first reverse red line on the beat at 0:45 (right before the silent bar) Viper = watch?v=onLIQrJ7gMQ, track starts with song, sync is easy to find Mezza = Was actually released as Eclipse and is already on this channel Song corrections: Feel the Flow is by Felt Ienu Ato is the track name, artist is Sync Arts Hello Hello is by Est featuring Yufu Sekka. Fun fact, the first part of this track before the high speed was meant to be synced to watch?v=NWDAjOsTYC8, starting with vocals (and sync is really cool to that song) Comet Storm, probably the best thing I ever worked on, no real problems but it's zoomed in a tad too much I think Everything else was either too short or not synced well enough for me to care Even with all that, there's still quite a few tracks I wish were in here that don't seem to have made it, funny how despite how much I want to forget, the time I was there was such a big part of my life in 2012-15 that I'll probably remember these things forever. I guess if people are going to be so adamant about keeping my old stuff I don't want to remember around, I might as well make it be remembered correctly
That was when I thought OTDE was running it, as I was lucky enough that someone linked me over to it (thanks again, you know who you are) and nothing really indicates who posted it or that your Patreon was involved, so any good will you may find in that comment should be disregarded.

I've known you were working on this for a very long time and am so happy to see it done. Thank you for taking so much time to do this. I'm pretty sure everyone that ever plays Line Rider from here on out will remember that you did this. Great work.

I think I'll rationalize my reasons for being upset over this.
I want to make it clear that I don't expect him to ask everyone for permission, that's obviously not going to happen.
The issues I've had is this got a little personal with how this relates to me. I've had this idea for a massive archive project from way back ago, you can see this with my efforts with archiving builds and saves, obviously. Why I never actually took it to this level was because Rabid had verbally discouraged me in several attempts of trying this. Ranging from, and I paraphrase, "This is a dumb idea", "No one is going to use this", "we already have something like this". These are pretty frequent criticism I receive from a lot of people from this community, but I've never really let that bother me. Or at least I try to. But point is, it's frustrating to see stuff like this done by the very person that shut you down over it.
He's also frequently ignored other artists wishes. Anyone here would be lying if they said that line rider has never become personal to them to the point that it starts dragging out the worst in us. Some members have even tried to separate themselves from their work to this community, as leaving it up just serves as a painful reminder. We shouldn't do that to our community members, none of us should. This is why I keep on spouting about us being objectified over our efforts, because if we really are a community, we need to start treating our members better. Rabid has had several people more than enough ask for him to not re-upload their tracks, as seeing them just flat out makes them feel awful. No one wants to be reminded of why this community makes us so angry. A lot of us, myself included, are trying very hard to bury this past behind us, but it's not easy when it keeps being dug back up.
And last, he's also ignored my requests to not leak my projects out in the open. Many times have I tried to "get over" our past and include him in my development projects as my sign of apology for how shitty I have been to him in the past. Every time, he has ignored my requests to not share the builds I have made that I want to keep closed, constantly has ignored really simple and basic instructions, and tries to blame a lot of problems on my end despite my best efforts to explain otherwise.
This is the only art community I have been a part of that prioritizes the art more than the artist.
No, I can't expect the entire entity that is the internet to not re-upload my stuff elsewhere. It happens, I've done it, you've done it, everyone has done it. But what you can do is at least respect someone's wants to not to have their works distributed outside their permissions.
And Rabid would be lying if he said this has never affected him before.
Rabid I have already messaged you twice through PM politely asking you to remove my files. This is the fourth time I'll be asking. When you do, I will provide a zip/link/whatever containing the files I do want here.
EDIT: By my files I should clarify, exclusively files that only I have worked on. Collabs and what not are whatever, that would require the entire group to verbally state their opinion, and I do not speak for those people.
Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
For anyone curious, I have responded to kevans privately. But a few things I want everyone to know:
- If I ever told kevans that I thought his archive project was a categorically bad idea, that was super shitty of me (and I was lying).
- If I ever shared a build that kevans asked me to keep private, that was also super shitty of me.
- I don’t want to drag out all the Blackheart dirty laundry publicly, but for anyone wondering, Sheldon and Ian/Dap/Scrungle I are on decent terms today.
- If anyone feels like they can't escape from ghosts of their past related to Line Rider or WRTL, please let me know.
- If anyone wants to ask me questions or express concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
We have reached a compromise. All is right with the world now. Much appreciated.
Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
Not that I ever made tracks as important as some of the others in the [Recovery Projects for Lost or Destroyed Accounts]
But I was wondering how you recovered lost or destroyed accounts/videos. I'd certainly love to be able to get back videos of my account that got banned in ~2012/3. I still get deeply sad when I think about the tracks that I no longer had the files for and were lost forever.
Also I put a request to the dropbox thing was some stuff I found on my computer. Dunno how much of it is new. I know some stuff in there are from other creators like ZNF etc

A few ways:Purtle wrote:I was wondering how you recovered lost or destroyed accounts/videos. I'd certainly love to be able to get back videos of my account that got banned in ~2012/3. I still get deeply sad when I think about the tracks that I no longer had the files for and were lost forever.
1. I had already downloaded the video in the past
2. The creator themselves sent me the video file
3. Someone else had downloaded it and sent it to me
4. I was able to find it uploaded to a different site somewhere
5. Myself, the creator, or someone else who sent all their files to me had the sol file, which I then recorded and uploaded.
Did you check your personal archive folder to see what I did manage to find of yours? (For the record, this sort of thing is why I've never deleted a sol or original video file of my tracks)
Thanks for all the sols! I'll go through them on my twitch sometime this week and see if any of them are new, and add them if they are.Purtle wrote:Also I put a request to the dropbox thing was some stuff I found on my computer. Yeah thats how I knew they were lost in the first place. This all occurred because all the old tracks were on the family computer (remember when those were a thing lol) and before I had an external HD/as I was getting my own computer, the family computer completely crashed and nothing was recoverable. I didn't think to download my tracks via youtube.
I just did extra searching via google to try and see if there were other remnants or possible leads. After a couple pages into google I found this
https://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t167-lr-library-downloaded-list
chih used my original account name Purtle28Patrick so he had it at some point.
edit: just saw the 2nd page. now im so so sad. Ill have to keep searching.
Also for the lost tracks file. The very first track I ever made and uploaded was a super mario bros track where I drew a bunch of the mario characters/enemies/castle/etc. Can't for the life of me remember what the exact title was but it was on the same account the other videos that were lost were posted on.
Additionally, I think i may have found some other .sols and some videos files. (the video file for the power rangers collab is one I saw). Ill try to look through them before sending another chunk to try and not contain duplicates of the stuff from yesterday.
Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
I was devastated that Chih lost that archive too, he had The Amazing Nose Manual by Holcomb! And I never asked him to send me a copy!
No worries about duplicates, TechDawg sent me hundreds of duplicates lol. I can sort through them fairly quickly. Thanks for the info about the lost tracks!

Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
Finally getting to your sols ppt (it took a while, a lot has been happening haha) and this is seriously a goldmine. I've found at least one track I thought was lost forever (Atomic by Devray) and a whole bunch of stuff I didn't have before, and I'm not even halfway through
Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
Oh damn glad to hear it man. Thanks for continuing with the work of this. Would be curious to hear what the other stuff was you found. I havent gotten around to sending the other folder of stuff, I'll have to do that this weekend. I forgot where it was already :p
Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
Hey Purtle, I found Danger Cliffs X in your sols and want to give it an archival release and was wondering if you remember the music (I'll PM you this too)
Also I did put some old Devray tracks from the sols you sent me into an archival collection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_upjeYV379g

Re: The Line Rider Archival Project: Public Release
Hey so I went through my external to check what I thought was a different set of .sols and stuff.
Took a couple minutes to check myself to save you the effort but it was all the same stuff I had already sent you. Oh well. Once again thanks for the great work
