Im Giving In

Post by Morgan on Wed Jun 01, 2016 2:03 am

Ive been stubborn, Ive legitimately never really looked at any tutorials. Its time. I am going to absorb everything I can, that I can understand at least. I am starting with manuals. I will look for some useful tutorials, but if anyone has any certain ones, send them my way

It's easier just to change it usually.

I also have to ask, does anyone have a huge youtube playlist or anything of tutorials from basic tricks to experienced ones? The only tutorials I've ever watched were for manuals and fling quark and I actually want to start playing LR again and maybe release something good.

No one has made tutorials in a long time. Any that are still out there are usually very outdated or simple. A few of the good ones were lost due to people privatizing their YouTube channels and such, shame really. Now the best thing to do is to arrange a Skype conversation with someone who can teach you or watch the twitch stream if you can to see some one making stuff. The new versions also have some helpful tools to make track making more precise, but can be overwhelming if you're not familiar with them so make sure you ask questions and read up on what the features are and what they do.

Best current tutorials would be:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqGvsglc3d4
(for list of different contacts and what happens with them.
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_4y3ncTqAE
(for list of tricks and where referenced tricks come from.)

Also for kramuals you might as well turn yourself to these:
http://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t10750-kramuals-actually-explained-and-why-diagonal-kramuals-are-possible?highlight=kramuals
http://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t11579-asiq-hyperkramuals-revisited
http://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t11385-new-techniques
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IIUnGcUMI9ABEWpc-RJkldtPDEco3c5B1GMz_IwIwIo/mobilebasic?usp=gmail

Also another good resource:
http://nunzioweb.com/games/line_rider/user-manual.htm

I hope that these somewhat help.

I'll add that most tricks are named off of contact points and what happens between frames, or how many frames are within the space of time that the contact point happens.

Nobody has made any tutorials since LRA was released, unless you count JC's lifelock demo. Or the squirrel broadcasts where anton teaches me kramual stuff.

Also in preferences, you can see all they key bindings+if you hold your mouse over some of the checkable feature in the preference section, it will give a description of the feature.

This is actually a good idea. I know Anton is putting together a bunch of high level quirk stuff, but with the release of a ton of new versions of the game, it may be nice to make some tutorials for them all. Small little video tutorials that go over most of the elements they can use, and maybe demonstrating the basics of track making with the use of live line editing.
