It happened when I tried to click on the song tab

edit - happens every time

First replaced just the .exe file. Moved all the files, works now!

Would there be a way to copy and past sections of scenery? If not this would be very useful for doing animation.

Also this is no longer causing a false positive with my antivirus. Inverted Onoz

0.3 is out. Has a ton of new feature if you read the main post. It isn't completely bug tested so I'm setting it as a release candidate. I need bug reports _badly_. If 0.3 has too many problems, I left 0.2 available, just in case.

thank you for the new release! feedback below :)

Post by hypothet on Fri May 27, 2016 5:51 pm

bugs:

  1. 1. 0.3 lags pretty decently on my machine,
-I'm using a razer 14 2014 if you need the specs,
-even right clicking on the icon will hang windows explorer and the taskbar for a bit

  2. cannot move lines?
-edit: resolved itself (nvm, see edit2)
-edit2: problem occurs when playback is paused, is not an issue when stopped

  3. onion skinning not live-updating when stopped.
-rather a large problem in combination with bug #2,
-best workflow atm in this build is beta 2-style workflow

problems/suggestions/criticisms:

  1. the pointer is difficult to see in night mode, at least on high DPI settings.
onion skinning + night mode + low speed = low line visibility,
-I have no clue where the line I placed is in this mess
-edit: onion skinning at low speed with or without night mode causes visibilty issues: http://puu.sh/p7oDb/75ab51af58.jpg
-believe it or not there is a blue line behind bosh in that screenshot

    onion skinning:
-would like to edit frame transparency
             --(ties in with visibility)
-would like to edit number of frames displayed on the screen at one time
--(mainly I would like to reduce them)

  2. improved visual feedback through icons
e.g. the cursor could change when hovering over a line you can select
-also might allow for a greater degree of control over line selection/editing if you want to include subtler editing features in the future
--e.g. (spitballing ideas at this point)
--pressing control could change the icon to show that control is pressed,
--or hovering the mouse over a line in a certain area could enable display of a certain function (move point, move line, etc.)

indeterminate:

  1. space bar will not trigger play when on frame 0/stopped/reset. seems unintuitive
  2. flag does not live update after line is moved (at least when playback is stopped)

<3 will look into everything said here

What causes the lag, playback of a specific track, or? I have a hard time replicating this on Archaelogy scened (60fps zoomed fairly far out)
What are your settings on? Can you screenshot them? I can't replicate your issue of paused playback and being unable to move lines or onion skinning not live updating.

maybe reduce the the boundaries on the screen?

blank track, the program itself seems to lag but the playback does not. default settings.

I can probably stream myself messing with it tomorrow past 12pm EST if that helps Smile

Console is the window for the song file converter. I use ffmpeg.exe which you can look up. I let it open in case the conversion process takes a while. This is especially true for the recording feature, which also requires ffmpeg.

  • Are you using the save menu located in the gear tool
  • Are you naming it something a file can be named? No ? marks, <>, etc
  • Is your Line Rider Advanced folder located so far in your computer that the path to your save file would be >255 characters long? I think that's the cap, could be shorter
  • Are you on Windows? If so what happens if you run as admin? Although it shouldn't require that.
  • Other OS?

Uh oh.

And Ill get on that recording problem soon.

Post by rabid squirrel on Sat Jun 11, 2016 5:28 pm

beta testing report time

Things that drive me crazy:
1. T hotkey for hand tool doesn't work, still, and spacebar only works if you're stopped. Only way to pan while live editing is to click on the pan tool.
2. Stopping the track resets the timeline to nothing which means I then have to fastforward through it (also not being able to navigate backward from the flag)
3. Super easy on a trackpad to accidentally change the zoom. I like working at a consistent zoom level while scening.
4. Doesn't save my setting which means everytime I open LRA I have to go turn off smooth camera, turn on white background, turn on disable line snap, and set the playback zoom to a number I have written down.
5. No way to select a line and delete it, thus requiring super careful use of the eraser tool
6. Everytime I click away from LRA and then click back e.g. skype chat, it registers a click at the last registered mouse position. Even if I click the title bar. With the pencil, this makes unwanted dots that I have to delete. With the eraser, this deletes lines I don't want deleted, much to my horror.

Crashes:
1. Was drawing with pencil tool, crashed. Asked something about if I wanted to do something with the stack. Sorry I didn't take a picture. It saved a backup.
2. Whatever the fuck this is:
Was still able to save and close, reopen, and track loaded fine.

Minor annoying things:
1. Tracks now take much longer to load
2. OGGs are saved not within the app pack but in the folder the app is in (aka my general line rider folder)
3. If I ever hit backspace in the specific zoom text window I then can't type any numbers in anymore without clicking out of it
4. Fast forward with music is quite choppy/laggy
5. No way to quickly open preferences or song menu, or quickly toggle things that I really want to be able to quickly toggle such as preview mode, song enabled, contact points, line snap, xy snap
6. The totally uncalled for passive-aggressive remark in mouseover text for white background
7. Bosh's body outline being thinner than the sled outline. Looks terrible IMO compared to alpha
8. Having to manually set the zoom playback level, or play the track from behind the last zoom trigger line, without backtracking, in order to get the correct zoom level for a section
9. Not being able to start zooming during airtime, and not being able to easily see or change when playback zoom events occur
10. Smooth Camera seems to lag behind Bosh's movement, and it's still a rectangular bounding box which is the main issue I have with the beta 2 camera.
11. I think the song converts every time I open the song window. It lags.

Yay for these things:
1. Being able to use an mp3 for syncing
2. 0.5x and 0.75x playback with music
3. Much nicer logarithmic zooming
4. Not stopping the track when I open preferences

I can definitely get to a lot of these things. Thanks so much for the big post. I don't think I'm giving hand tool to T, but I will be adding spacebar support during pause. I'm also not sure how i can fix your trackpad issue without disabling zoom with scroll wheel.

The 3rd time the crash happened I got a picture

What I hate about the lack of T is the fact that there is no way to actually hit a button to select the hand tool, you have to either continually hold down space, or click on the tool. I use the hand tool all the time in scenery - which includes frequent use of T as well as space. Of course I prefer just being able to pan with my trackpad in LRJS but I greatly preferred beta 2's controls to LRA for moving around and looking at things (tab, T, preview mode, and locking scroll zoom are all things I used a lot)
