EDIT: IT'S OUT
https://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t12086-the-line-rider-archival-project-public-release

I've decided to start archiving videos and .sols. Anyone who ever won some kind of major award like MOTW, or was cited as an inspiration by a LRL, or was on the exceptional playlist, or had a track featured, or collaborated with anyone who had any of those things. The goal is for this is to not just be a dump of stuff but for it to actually be organized and easy to find things. I'm labeling .sols with tracks and names and youtube archives with date uploaded and sorting them into folders by creator. I'm going to start with the earliest people and move forward.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
- dump all of the .sol files you have (yours & others) in a zip and send them to me
- suggest people for me to archive who might not be obvious
- check the wish list to see if you have anything I might want

Wish List:
Spoiler:
Feel free to suggest people I should archive! (Or comment on anything else)

People whose videos I have archived so far:
Spoiler:
SOL (or TRK/JSON) Archives so far:
Spoiler:
Other interesting things:
Spoiler:
If you would like anything at all please just ask and I will upload it for you! I'll make this whole thing available on dropbox once I am done.

archived namtlade and iamsorrydude.

IASD deleted his account so all I can find is scattered collabs and a recording chih did for him. Anything you have related to him would I would love to have as he was a major early quirker. (first quirkology, invented AGWs...)

namtlade I have all the videos but if anyone has a .sol that would be like christmas.

archived (or attempted to) CaptainSlug, willster092, ilT, x612nt13, Aldrasio, and Nollez.

CaptainSlug: only trace is Body Breakdown rev. 2, all the other vids are gone. There are screenshots in the description that reveal that (!!!) there was actually more track and unfinished scenery than was revealed in the video

willster092: one video of IRTLTube, one video off Chih's channel, and that's it, which is sad because he was a hugely influential scener.

ilT: kontrol, hell rider, cabin fever - that's all. recovered on chih's account and IRTLTube.

Nollez: literally the only thing I have is the pan over a screenshot of his intro in his honorable mention in DaPoe's most influential series. His shading was dapoe's #1 scenery inspiration too. So sad.

Aldrasio: plenty of tracks though I think some of the older ones were deleted judging from descriptions

x612nt13: everything is there except quirkology 4 because of music copyright. I ahve what I think is the sol for it though.

going back a ways, I'm pretty sure wendel deleted a lot of his older videos, unless crazy castle was his first? which would be nuts EDIT: confirmed it was his first released video. nuts.

Making a Big Fat Line Rider Archive Empty Re: Making a Big Fat Line Rider Archive

Post by rabid squirrel Tue Jan 05, 2016 7:04 pm

I got sucked into the linerider.org movie index today. The search function is broken but you can browse through them one page at a time, which is what I did lol. found the text and date of posts by unconed, holcomb, nollez, kraettz, daugystik, ilT, and protocol. As well as posts by bhcs, znf, abysmal pea, moizut, and djkooo which I will get to later.

went to archive kraettz and all his videos have been removed. I uploaded my copy of floating island to IRTLTube so we have that but on org I found out he had like 20+ other tracks that are now lost Sad

I found one track by Daugystik that Harpo scened, that and cabin fever which is on IRTLTube thanks to chih are the only traces of him even though he uploaded something like 15 videos very early in the beta 2 days. sad.

was able to get some thumbnail images of ilT's old tracks of which there were about a dozen (we have three actual videos)

archived some others who never really were active on forums:
dwhitmire - line rider roller coaster
cforce05 - mc escher & others
threedeziner - the long journey home

also archived protocol, who made jump around, and breaking loose (backflip record of 103 flips), and others. he was a VIP rider on IRTL way back then and beta testing 6.2. Now he has over a million subs making minecraft vids on another channel, check this out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkIU0TzDDYQ&t=9m55s
he talks about line rider in his youtube story million subs vid

Post by rabid squirrel Thu Jan 07, 2016 2:42 pm

Thanks guys. Efraz, all those guys are planned for archival Smile (except IGLima actually. I'll make sure he gets on the list)

rounded out the french people:
KCBM / Cedric Le Mercier
Scully / ScoOlly
flodux / flodu85 / flo9627
titi7611 (can't really find many videos, not sure why)
LineBuster / Canaljeu / Florian

Also added these people because I ran across them and thought I might not get them:
linejs / Jseb
AngryFishMonger (never was active on any forums)

Also found a preview for a massive IRTL & FR collab. Organized by titi7611 and namtlade, track by ZNF, Eachare, joonas, crazyjade. Scenery by Moizut & Rembradt. I don't know if it was ever finsihed.
I also have a partial .sol for it, with joonas, ZNF, and Moizut parts.

Post by bibliOly Thu Jan 07, 2016 5:21 pm

I just found five CD-Rs from 2007 - 2009 that are mostly full of LR videos except for one that also had around 150 sols included. Some sols are partial tracks or contest starts but I think you might find a few you can use in building this archive. I'm going to put them in dropbox later and post the link here unless there's a better way of getting them to you(Did and done, see below.), there's even a Bolted to the Wall zip pack in there. lol

EDIT:
Here are the sols:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6271sdjzhrhbh85/AABreEyjI0vjYfMETpRHf7nia?dl=0

As far as the videos go I'll hold off on uploading any unless I see something on a wish list.

^ HOT. DAMN. I'm pretty sure some of these .sols are of lost videos too!

EDIT: FLYNX?! BURNED?! XORRY?! CYDONIA?! LOOPLAND?! this is GOLD

As for videos, here's what I have so far in the wish list:
- Quirkology 4
Dutch Devils
跨 山 (Cross Mountain) by LineBuster & Moizut
NFQ by KCBM
Any video with Nollez
Any video with Holcomb (besides scorpion)
Any video with daugystik / Dus (besides Cabin Fever or Ownage Force 5000)
Any video with (besides oriental, quirkology, WAM, or Collaborasian)
Any video with kraettz (besides floating island)
Any video with willster092 (besides forbidden paradise, erosion)
Any video with Captain Slug (besides body breakdown rev. 2)
Any video with ilT (besides kontrol, hell rider, cabin fever)
I will continue to add stuff to it ofc. I don't know exactly how far along I am but it's definitely less than halfway.

wayback doesn't archive individual threads much. Definitely doesn't archive videos. Usually what we get are snapshots of the forum sections with the most recent post and sometimes the most popular stickies. I might dig through it anyway sometime but I haven't come up with much in the past.

Making a Big Fat Line Rider Archive Empty Re: Making a Big Fat Line Rider Archive

Post by Noname219 Fri Jan 08, 2016 3:06 am

I have kept all my .sols (everything I've touched, challenges, collabs) namely an unreleased XY collab with GeorgioJC, Redcap and MartinJulenissen. I will dig up and see if I find anything by Moizut, LineBuster, LineBenji or KCBM. I can ask a few people to see if they have kept anything.

I have used footage of Cross Mountain here (5 second preview) if that helps : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRpB_ACtDDU (enjoy the leet 2003 celldweller track) -oh and there's probably very little more useful on that channel...

Meanwhile, linerider.fr is going bad. Basically, the server is dying (it has purged edited posts and I believe whole messages with accents "é" ,"à", etc.) and I'm not sure how I can contact Ravalum anymore. Urgh, that's depressing. I have lost some important information I should have saved somewhere. Gonna dig up around the website to see what needs to be saved asap. (will probably be using wayback machine A LOT in the next days...)

I also remember Chih was making something similar way back in the day, don't know if he kept anything.

Also holy shit Crazy Castle/wendel.

EDIT :
Just posted a news article on LR.FR (http://www.linerider.fr/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2920) - somehow cannot be displayed on the front page and in a thread on the forum (http://www.linerider.fr/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=5234&post_id=98493#forumpost98493). Also asked to a skype group with the following people : "Flodux, kanafan, Pikierre, Moizut, valent19, Crazyjayde, Olip96, SmokyBird, Sandy01, and someone else I can't remember (maybe maziks or _camille_) ?" Note : Moizut has never connected or posted anything, but I'm friend with him on Facebook and -just so you might want to know- he's in a semi-famous j-pop french band (https://www.facebook.com/shindehai), so if you want to contact him there, go ahead!

Also, I think I'll be able to trace Ravalum and get him to fix the website, at least for the moment while I can back up things on my side. That said, I'll save everything I possibly can (from videos to .sols) and will keep you informed if I have anything interesting you might need. Consider that a complementary archive.

Oooh, that sounds great! I'd love it if you could just send me all of them in a zip - I can sort through them and categorize them and keep what I want (as long as they are labeled with trackmaker and/or track name... if not then that would make it more difficult to ficure out what the track is unless it is super famous)

*archives every video on that channel anyway because it is .FR history* That's definitely better than nothing! Thanks!
The biggest issue with Moizut is that he has made all his videos unlisted so the only way I find them is when he posts them somewhere and I find the post. I realized last night (while I was half asleep, lol - I'm officially having dreams about Line Rider archival work) that Moizut had posted Shindehai (his last track) on this site so I was able to go and find it and get it (yay) Cross Mountain is the only one I've come across that is actually down though. I have:
- shindehai
- cataclysm
- dystopia
- krystal
- the fall
- valley peaks
- legend of the cursed land

Making a Big Fat Line Rider Archive Empty Re: Making a Big Fat Line Rider Archive

Post by rabid squirrel Fri Jan 08, 2016 8:05 pm

I'm entirely addicted to archiving. LOL. What is my life.

I ended up browsing through .org archives anyway on wayback machine. There are so many archives and so many of them are utterly useless. but about every 100 archives I come across something useful (e.g. a make believe preview gif, a thread about features to be added in beta 2, profile of a member whose tracks have been delete with a list of them in his sig) and every once in a while I get something awesome. I'll keep going - I'm through about 500 archives of about 12,000 total so it will take a while though...

iamsorrydude (whose tracks are lost, besides the collabs he was in) posted a .sol in march 2007, and miraculously the download link still worked! I couldn't believe it lol. I recorded the interesting saves on the sol and made a little video which I put on IRTLTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q4_frCb4vE
it's early anomaly-esque quirk stuff mostly.

Going through bilbiOly's sol archives and it is really a gold mine. What I've found so far:
- x612nt13 sols of Reality, Utopia, Claustrophobia & more
- daugystik/Dus sol: Oddball
- ilT sols of Kontrol & Hell Rider
- Ram Tzu sol of Loopland (with a different ending, maybe it was extended but unfinished?)
- A HUGE amount of ClosedDoor .sols including tracks that I thought were completely lost (acid aroma, funky flyin, nose manual madness, & more) and collabs with anomaly, Snooze, Steffo & more
- A HUGE amount of ZNF .sols including tracks that I thought were completely lost (xorry, flynx, burned, ELITE)
- Aqua sol: Black Sea
- Abysmal Pea .sols including tracks that I thought were compelely lost

I'll get in touch with ZNF and see if he remembers the music for his tracks and CD's tracks so we can get them on IRTLTube (or ZNFrecovery...)

Don't be afraid to just zip them all and throw them at me

Thanks for Brightsteel Wilderness! Too bad the others are all down. But I did get Krystal both from his channel and from your vimeo.

I have tons of space. (like, a terabyte). With 60 people archived (that's every video they have on youtube) the archive is about 12GB. If it's too much I can always throw stuff away myself but I'd much prefer to get it all and then decide what to throw away.
