The Big Picture

Our method for running earlier ToCs work very well, so we're going to apply the same method.

The big idea is to start out with several large, randomly seeded, multiple choice polls and seed the entries for the rest of the tournament based off of the results of that poll. We will use a formula that incorporates both percentage of votes and number of votes received in each large poll to rank the tracks accurately (Because different polls will have different amounts of voters and different numbers of votes). We will also re-seed just a tad bit after each round to account for slightly inaccurately seeded tracks and other factors (like voters changing their minds lol).

Through seeding, we want to roughly pit the best track against the worst, and the second, best against the second, worst, and so on, (to keep large confrontations form happening early on) and we use these polls to roughly determine which ones are "best" and "worst". They we go to polls of six or seven, and once we get to the Thrilling Thirty-Two we have polls of four, eliminating two. The sweet sixteen will then be decided with good old-fashioned one-on-ones down to the end.

ROUND 1

- 7 multiple-choice polls of 12 videos each. 3 videos eliminated each poll.
- 4 multiple-choice polls of 11 videos each. 2 videos eliminated each poll.
- Narrowed down from 128 to 100 videos
- Each poll will be open for 5 days, one posted every day
- People can vote for up to 8 videos

Round 1 starts this Saturday (December 19), and ends January 3 of 2016.

- Each poll will be open for 5 days, one posted every day.

Round 2 starts this Sunday (January 10th), and ends around January 27th (depending on tiebreakers).

Scores were calculated by adding up percentage and amount of votes.

Ranking after round 1:

Polls are determined by putting the first 6 (or 7) of the list against the last 6. The polls should be progressively closer.

I can't describe quite why, but this track puts a smile on my face whenever I watch it. It's probably due to the music syncing that give rise to emotions. "to the bottom baaaabe", "when you fell from heaven that daaaaaaaaay...", "but I don't even care notin' about it baaaawweeebeee..." is like a rifle of fabulous syncs. It just makes me so happy
And the ending, oomph, so smooth.

The OP says round 1 starts December 18th, but it's now December 19th. Soooo when is it starting?

EDIT: I guess if ZNF is lobbying for This is Love, I'm gonna entreat everyone to vote for Happily Ever After by Commandercoke. To me it is the utter essence of Line Rider. A beautiful story told in line art, Bosh effortlessly floating through a gorgeous yet simple environment, a perfect unity of track and scenery. Don't get trapped in the misconception that more work = better track.

^ Yeahh about that.. I was tired when I made those polls. It wasn't 1 track that would be eliminated, 1 track would go through :S. The same goes for poll #4, where I said that two tracks would be eliminated. 2 tracks would actually go through! (Meaning Phantasmagoric Heart is in round 2).

I'm gonna have to intervene here because the round two polls were not created correctly.

You put the top 7 and the bottom six all in one poll. What you should be doing is putting the top one and bottom one in the first poll, the second from the top and second fromt he bottom in the second poll, etc. We don't want to put all the top tracks in the same poll.

I hope you don't mine but I am going to clean up this mess and redo the first round 2 poll.

Okay now I've gone through round 1 and cleaned up. Any errors should be noted at the ends of threads. let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

The solution to the math error that won't make us have to wait even LONGER for round 2 to start is to let both pillars and gospel through in poll #7. Not ideal but far less confusing and consistent than the speed tiebreaker solution.

Overdrive was also listed twice in the round 2 rank thread. Took me while to figure out why there were 101 entries.

ANYWAY, here is our final list of ranks:

Actually, I've found it's even better if you do it that way for the first 8, and then you do it backwards for the next 8. so #9 goes in poll 8, and 9th from the end goes in poll #8, #10 and 10 from the end in poll #7, etc. Balances things out a bit more so you don't have better and worse tracks in poll 1 than in poll 8. I'm working on this now and I'll have it up soon and then make poll 1 in round 2.

I would recommend having people only able to vote for 4 in round 3, since only 4 will make it through each poll. But I'll leave it up to you.

Biggest upset so far:

Cosmic Underworld was ranked #62 out of 64 tracks for round three. But it made it through poll #3 to round 4, beating blue champion which was ranked at #19

My guess is a some people never watched Cosmic Underworld and consequently didn't vote it, weird though

Honestly, just rewatched Cosmic Underworld to see if I forgot something, and still wonder how it's getting to round 4. The main thing it has going for it is it's a massive scenery track, and historical. The scenery itself is just barely above acceptable imo, very lifeless during the whole thing. Additionally, the bare track on its own is nothing special.

Not only that, but the presentation is terrible. Here's a list of reasons (all opinion):
1) Track is obviously slowed down, almost agonizingly slow at some spots. Perhaps to make the scenery easier to see, perhaps just bad lag, but still, way too slow.
2) The music is least fitting of probably any other track that was in the whole ToL. The juxtaposition between the slow track and fast song makes the track feel even slower.
3) Not only is the screen blurry, there's extra motion blur. Seriously?
4) Second song just for credits. Barely an intro, nothing during color replay (which is still super slow, just barely faster than the normal playback)
5) Speaking of color replay, it's so zoomed out you can't tell what color anything is.
6) The intro and credits (what there is) is full of bragging and pride. Not fun to watch.
7) If he slowed the track for anything, he made it so the ending and cuts between the main track, color playback, and titling where very badly timed. He could have at least made an effort to make the editing cuts work better if nothing else.

Honestly, I guess there's just a lot of nostalgia in this for people? I'm a little surprised this made it to round 3, let alone round 4.
